    The mission of the Walter Bradley Center for Natural and Artificial Intelligence at Discovery Institute is to explore the benefits as well as the challenges raised by artificial intelligence (AI) in light of the enduring truth of human exceptionalism. People know at a fundamental level that they are not machines. But faulty thinking can cause people to assent to views that in their heart of hearts they know to be untrue. The Bradley Center seeks to help individuals-and our society at large-to realize that we are not machines while at the same time helping to put machines (especially computers and AI) in proper perspective. 27:30 Do the R E S E A R C H . . I've worked in High Tech Wireless Communications for the last 23 years. The Technology she is talking about will be commonplace 15 years from now. Today's printed circuit boards are NO THING LIKE the PCB's of tomorrow. All the signalling is light based. Think I'm wrong? There have been optocouplers embedded in Chips since the 1980's. Copper is going to lose favor to fiberoptics INSIDE the computer. Higher Data Rates, multiplexed signals across the light spectrum, less power consumption. Nothing but upside.

    • @musicboy2003
      @musicboy2003 Před měsícem +7

      Housing prices have risen because of many factors: cost of materials, higher labor costs, Boomers staying put instead of moving up, and higher bank rates. You can’t just blame inflation. It’s at 3.48% today. That is damn reasonable, historically, for the past 45 years.

    If by the analysis of historical economic transactions, the harvest of life sustaining value of this living quality could be quantized in terms of measuring grains, livestock and metals to be held in reserves, then it's only the regular participation by the people engaged in the general process that attributes value to the system of measuring rules and regulations who can sustain it by providing cyclical services for health and welfare to the population.
    If there's anything wrong with the current system as it consists of rules and regulations, the concept of Constitutional Democracy is the standard decided by the people who know what they're getting for their contributions and therefore know the values of mutual respect and protection, which means universal education.

    The big technology that she's missing is brain computer interfaces, and not ones that require a hole in your skull. Meta and stability have already demonstrated images that capture an object from picturing it in the mind. AI can already pattern match brainwaves and hardware that already exists will eventually go the other way and be able to stimulate the right neurons to invoke a picture in a human brain.
    The other is nanotechnology or atomic engineering. The chemistry equivalent of Alphafold that knows all organic and non organic pathways and can create catalysts and enzymes on demand to deal with waste but also carries the risks of designer poisons and pathogens.
    There's probably other AI enabled technologies that will tackle the biggest problems beyond mental health and pollution that I don't know about. The game theory of politics being one possibility that we can right now only dream about.

    • @peterbelanger4094
      @peterbelanger4094 Před 10 dny

    I think Cathie can be directionally correct on this and still make all the wrong calls with respect to trading, because she keeps falling into memes that don't really disrupt the Wall Street understanding of the world. If Bitcoin is going to be an increasingly big asset, that means the dollar trade will be comparatively weaker, which supports the popular narrative of inflation; if you want to make a crypto play you have to treat it like a "book to movie" adaptation: it might seem like traditional finance some of the time, but the qualities aren't the same. If the future is AI-driven robotaxi, then why would Tesla, who has positioned themselves as a traditional auto maker, be the right company to make the transition into a market whose economics are going to most resemble bikeshare? If Tesla is driving down prices, why does she later say that they are trying to be a higher-end producer than BYD?
    I believe the survivors in this period are mostly going to focus on keeping their cashflow in order, and some of the safest bets will be outside of the "tech" sector, already working on thin margins and in a position to adapt to new tech without wasting their existing capital investments or changing their core business. Businesses that are trying to hold up margins or make a sudden leap from one business model to another are likely to get blindsided.

      Really good insights. This is why open ai beat out Google in AI, Google is optimized entirely around search engine and AI was not it's focus. So brand new companies entirely focused on a new service will probably be dominant. Any idea of some companies in that direction?

    • @Kenny-tl7ir
      @Kenny-tl7ir Před 13 dny

      The dollar will be going into inflation yes, but by that point no one is going to be using the dollar to trade goods. So any inflation that happens with the dollar is irrelevant. Secondly she is also right about deflation because everyone will be using Bitcoin to trade goods.
