- The Panasonic Lumix GH6 with the 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 lens is a great combination when you need a versatile lightweight combination. This lens is perfect for travel and outdoor photography and video. It's lightweight and covers a broad range. On bright days I'm often stopping down to f/5.6 anyway, so it's not a huge loss outside.
I've discovered when using this combo with a Rode mic, the need to edit is pretty much eliminated. I'm able to record tons of footage and use similar tags and keywords when submitting to stock agencies. This streamlines the process and saves a ton of time while maintaining high quality. It could even be argued, not editing will help the next person as exporting compressed formats causes quality loss each time. That might be going a little far, but it seems to work, so I'm going with it until it doesn't.
Have you used a similar combination?

I like my 14-140 a lot it does no have the best optics but it does very well for filming outside.
It’s pretty much my go-to for outside. The dual IS is super beneficial and the range can’t be beat. Not sure I’d be able to tell the difference between it and my Olympus 12-40 Pro on a sunny day.
I tried v2 of this lens on my GH6 but the stabilization was super jittery at the telephoto range. I am using the olympus 12-200 now and think its the perfect "daytime" one and done lens. thanks for your informative videos.
The range of the 12-200 is pretty amazing. Were you using the dual IS on the Panasonic lens?
Olympus 12-200 lense hase no lens is at all.. my 14-140 is very stable on my gh5
I too like my 14-140mm on my gh5. But, the zoomring is still sticky at times 😡 and the AF is to slow for zooming. What are your experiences with this lens and the zoomring.
Thank you, Frans/Bali.
Hi Frans,
The AF seems pretty good in my experience for stills and video. That depends more on the camera body than the lens. Both have firmware that can be updated. It might be worth looking into.
The zoom ring was super sticky when I first got the lens. It’s broken in now, but briefly sticks at unpredictable spots. This problem seems to improve over time, but it probably won’t go away completely.
@@mattfowlerkc thank you Matt for your swift reply 😀👍👋, Frans
How did you get so sharp video?
With a fisheye, or just the videos in my office?
@@mattfowlerkc in your Office.
@@alexced3923 That's mostly lighting. I have three small LED lights mounted about 3 feet from my face. I just clamped them to my desk so I can be ready to record in less than 30 seconds :).
@@mattfowlerkc thanks.Beautiful video.
