    Great video! My favorite profile on my GH5 II is the natural one.

    Excelente video. La maravilla es que Panasonic ha hecho los menus tan bien que puedes encontrar las mismas funciones en los mismos lugares en distintas cámaras. Tengo una GH5 (la amo) y una G9II y las explicaciones se aplican perfecto a las dos cámaras.

    I am a total noob at this, picked up a GH6 to record some car/truck videos and take pics. It's so much deeper than I thought lol. Started with a Mavic air 2s drone now I want to get those sharp and close up shots. Wish me luck lol

    Just picked up an 18% Gray baseball cap at the Eastman museum in Rochester NY to be able to practice your techniques on our next trip. I guess a viewable film outweighs my area code. Thanks for the super info to help me get up to GH6 speed here in Rapid.

    Seems to me that "middle grey" in a natural color profile should be at the middle reading, or 50%. Why 40%?

    OHHHHHH ZEBRAS IS CORRECT?! Ahhhh I’m such an idiot man I was fussing over the camera all day trying to get them to disappear cause I thought it meant blown out. Anyway, thank you so much for this video!

    Hello, I have a question. Some bloggers mentioned a defect of this camera, that is, in low light environment and high light ratio, when shooting in vlog mode, green bars will appear in the picture. It seems that this problem is quite common, and Panasonic has not been able to completely solve this problem after upgrading the camera firmware. Some people say it is a CMOS problem. I don’t know how serious this problem is in practice. To be honest, I like this camera very much, but this problem involves the purity of the picture, which I am more concerned about. Have you done this test? Have you been troubled by this problem during use? I hope to hear the real voice, thank you very much!

    Great stuff Caleb! Does you/ anybody else have any further advice on like.......ok.....once we have VLOG grey card set to 42%......do we still need to be overly concerned with skin tones/ underexposure/ over exposure? Or does the VLOG 42% pretty much cover it? or is there a 'stop' number (eg.4.5?) that correlates to being overexposed? cheers! ro :-)

    Which method should we choose to set the correct exposure if we are in a dynamic environment where we have to react quickly to events and there is no time for precise settings?

    Celeb, Is the spot meter we were using here different then the spot meter mode in my exposer meter. The icon looks the same but I'm not sure? I've watched this video before but now after a while I'm starting to get. Sometimes you have to watch a video and come back to it after a while and then it clicks. Very cool too.

    Hey there Caleb, thanks for all the information!
    After I got my GH6 i used on a Thailand vac and shot a lot with the luminance spot meter. I always tried to expose for a 0.0 for the faces of my subjects... But I'm not satisfied with the results, mostly the background (sunny island stuff) is unsurprisingly overexposed and even though I shot in 10b-422 there wasn't enough breathing room to get to a nice picture in post (at least with my lackluster Davinci skills).
    ... My question is: I get exposing for neutral Grey, but in a reallife situation, exposing for human subjects in front of bright backgrounds, what should I go for, to get an overall nicely exposed result which leaves me the best options in post?
    Thanks in advance, have a nice day!
    Dave

    Socool. I shot continuous 5.7 k 30 prores on Angelbird 4Tb CF Express until i updated to 2.0 FW . Panisonic answer to my issue is FW 2.0 did not address card capacity. Thank s to being able to record to the ATOMOS NINJA W NO CARD IN CAMERA although i took a big loss on selling all my v90 cards and my small cf that came w The gh6 i now have a high capacity option w a lot of added weight of course. Angelbird was a great help with great products. Would love to try the 2tb version when im able to drop that jack. Does shooting in vlog,dynamic range boost w nd filter and external monitor or recorder effect the auto focus that requires certain settings?. Thanks

    Thanks Caleb! I'm getting used to using this and I get confused when aiming for 42% (vlog) or 40% (flat or natural ) and using the zebras with the new luminance spot tool. The image looks too dark and the histogram and waveform readings are way low too. I end up eye balling it and the reading is 70% instead? I am using too many things at once?

    • @hansweston
      @hansweston Před rokem

      @McSnapples Thanks! Yes so you're right, practice, practice practice. They give us so many exposure tools with these cameras, its a matter of finding our own workflow we can trust.

    Caleb, are you still having noise issues with the Dynamic Range Boost? You and I were both having trouble with it back when the camera was released, so I haven't been using it. Was there a firmware update that fixed it?

    • @Balvarez02
      @Balvarez02 Před rokem +1

      I'm also having the same issue. I'd love to hear an answer to this. I've stopped using dynamic range boost because the gains aren't worth the noise IMHO. That said maybe I'm doing something wrong.

    Hi, I understand you are well intentioned. Your microphone and your voice are a bad combination as you use it. There are lots of free Audio Loudness Meters and learn to eq your voice. I also notice that you suck at shadows lol. Simply add more lights on camera. Ring, controllable main light. Respect the 3 or 4-point lighting principles at all times. In or outdoors. In the last case increasing ISO. Hope this helps. Good luck
