  • Labour’s GB Energy policy will result in “giant bills”, Penny Mordaunt has claimed.
Speaking at the seven-way BBC debate, the Commons leader said: “It’s not just your taxes that I’m worried about, I’m worried about my constituents being able to afford a Labour government.
Talk’s Julia Hartley-Brewer is joined by former Labour Party official Richard Power Sayeed to discuss this further.

In Scotland 16 year olds can vote in their national assembly, but there was a case recently where a man got away with a rape he committed when he was 17 against a girl of 13. He was given community service, and the judge said if he'd committed the rape when he was over 25 he'd have been jailed. If they want 16 year olds to be treated as adults and allowed to vote then they should be treated as adults when they do wrong.

Then the EU legislated that we had to buy the cheapest materials from the cheapest supplier and our industries went down the toilet so we buy these “renewables “ from other countries, have to pay them subsidies when these wind farms don’t make enough money (!) and have to pay again to replace them when they stop working after ten years. Where’s the wealth creation in that? The only way this country can create wealth is to start making things again.

@@F.O.O Electrical energy storage is one of the most unproductive use of resources there is. Pumped hydro fares better but you need the vast area for the reservoir.
Energy storage does not generate any more energy for use, it simply stores existing energy for later use. A 100W solar panel with energy storage still only captures up to 100W in solar power.
There is a reason why historically electrical batteries used in mobile devices are kept as small as possible. Energy storage is never a good solution; people only pay the cost of energy storage if there is no other choice.
