    Stunning film - Pure racing - Thank you so much. LOTUS is synonymous with the following icon of the sport:
    JIM CLARK - By far the greatest driver ever - no doubt. He is and was "The Best of the Best" (Fangio, Senna, Prost, Stewart and countless others about Clark). No other driver in history until today was so superior as Clark - No other driver as so much "Grand Slam" - Pole/Win/Fastest Lap/Leading every lap of the race - like him. And all that from just 72 starts... !
    This man is the Olymp of driving - the Michelangelo of racing - a dynamic art at the highest level. So smooth, so precise, so fast....simply out of this world. One, who won in Spa by 5 minutes (!) in monsoon rain with only one hand at the wheel (!) because of gearbox trouble...One, who takes back a complete lap (!) in Monza and back into the lead... One, who took pole on the original 22,8 km Nürburgring track by 9 (!) seconds and more....One who won Indy by 2 whole (!) laps...For eternity and by lightyears unmatched in the sport. That`s just four examples of his mesmeric unique genius..

    One can imagine just how lovely the handling balance must be with the suspension sorted.
    Four-wheel drifting on the edge of tire adhesion, the car makes the driver look like a star.

    Great lil cars. Such was I from 1963 to 1998. Won the Div 1 GTP championship locally in '97. Won every race but one and sneezed a motor that time.

    Interesting. I have just watch another video on the same car and racing series that was presented as being current to the 1964 racing series. That state the Ford engines were delivering do Lotus producing around 85 horse power. In this video, the same core engine, still using carbs, is delivering 125+ horse power. Amazing what years of refinement and newer technology can do for an engine.
    Great cars. Loved this video.

      Many thanks. The period film you mention is on CZcams and is called Sisters under the Skin from 1961 and is incorrectly labeled 1964 Formula Ford.
      The early Formula Junior 1 litre Ford engines produced 85bhp, but by 1963 Formula Junior season the Cosworth 1100cc MK X1 and XV11 engines produced 120bhp.

      @@merryprinters7284 How on earth did they get 120 /230bhp out of it .would you please tell me the information I need ,I presume the proverbial A8 cam and Weber's are two item s .and I seem to remember someone did a downdraft head for the ford block .the info would be well received .many thanks .

      @@merryprinters7284 Hi Simon, wonderful video. What happened to the VW Beetle HRDC project from a few years back? My HSCC Beetle will be back in a few years (change of job ended my racing for a while) I'm going through a full rebuild so it'll be 126bhp and under 600kg when completed. The 90kg weight reduction should give the Mini's something to think about!...All the best Ian czcams.com/video/loDjQb3DYV8/video.html

    Love the video ,but must querie the 125 bhp out out of the 1000 cc MAE engine even with the Duckworth downdraft head on it ,which I don't think it had . I personally think it to be more like 85 /90 bhp .

    • @merryprinters7284
      @merryprinters7284 Před 2 lety +3

      Dear Mark, the engine is 1098cc and will produce 120bhp+. Geoff Richardson Engineering is the expert in engine building being ex Cosworth and the parts he remanufacturers, cams and heads, are FIA approved to period specification. RM Wilson Engineering's Sam Wilson who is ex QED also builds engines to period FIA rules and both these companies have reliable dyno's and produce engines that will rev to 9,000rpm as they did in period. You can check this by looking at lap times of period races. It is only recently that we club racers have achieved the period 100mph lap average at the Goodwood circuit which is unchanged. Mike Costins 1098cc down draft engine produced 130bhp in period. Best regards, Simon Diffey.
