  • In this video I will show you how to troubleshoot and repair inoperable trailer lights on your 2015-up Ford F-150 and F-250 / F-350 trucks. Ford started using a module to control trailer stop and turn signals, which can go bad and cause the loss of these trailer lights, even though the trucks brake lights and turn signals are still functioning normally.

    You just ran down the entire list of my issues with my new to me 2015 f150. I appreciate you posting this. Now I know where to start looking.

    I ran into this issue this morning on my new to me 2020, everything worked the day before. Chased the fuses and nothing then found this video. Many thanks because I wouldn’t have known to look at the module. The CANbus wire was disconnected completely, probably bc my big feet. Anyway, you brought me back from despair. Thank you!

      Same exact issue on my 2019 F150; All of the trailer lights worked fine on my 2011 Expedition, however only the running lights worked when connected to the F150. Watched this video which was extremely helpful, and I checked the CANbus wire first which was disconnected just like noted above. Now the brake and blinker lights work too. Glad it was something so simple.

    Had the same problem and thanks to you for your video showing the module I was able to take it apart and resolder all of the big connectors. It fixed my problems. Thanks again.

    Thanks for making this video. Was in Canada, trailer lights quit working. Watched your video, this corrected my problem. You saved me big time.

    Thank your for your help. My project just happened to be the 3 wire connector you referred to as CANbus was disconnected. The component description you provided lead me right to issue.

    Had the same issue on my 2020. The small connector was unplugged and hanging down. Problem solved😅 Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing this video. I also appreciate your methodical approach to diagnosing the problem and articulating how you arrived at your conclusion. I'm having the same issue on my 2015 F250 but with the trailer running lamps only. Tested all the fuses and relays under the hood as well as the BCM...all good. I've found no issues with the wiring or any of the connectors both inside and on the exterior. My trailer tow module is mounted (buried) in a different location than yours making it difficult to test for power at the connectors and tracing the wires under the dash. A wiring diagram would be helpful so hoping you can suggest where I might get one for my F250. Thanks again!

    Ive got an issue where my truck always says trailer connected and the other messages are trailer module fault and left turn trailer fault. I replaced the module you referenced here. Chased a ton of wiring cabt find anything wrong

      So all fuses are good? Did you test power to the module? And power to the rear ? Also, trailer module may be the trailer brake controller, not this module.

    Thanks for this video. I will be diving into this over the next few days. Quick question though. I tested the 4-pin with a test light, and it is working fine. My 7-plug has no power. Does this provide any further proof that it might be the module? Thank you

      @JackofAllMasterofNone  Před 2 dny

      Hummmm. That is strange since they get the power for the brake lights and signals from the same spot. I would check your module at the rear (the part that actually has the 7 pin and 4 pin connectors)

    Thanks for this video - Question - Did you have to program the Module? I am trying to replace mine module but the Ford parts guy says that the module needs to be programed and wants to charge me a service charge for that.

      @JackofAllMasterofNone  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I just bought the same part number used on eBay. I do not think this module is programmable so he is probably full of s***

    I have a 2015 F150 and I have no lights of any kind on the right side; left side is working, but I do have trailer lighting control module fault message. I don’t know if I have a bad module, but at least now I know where to look if I isolate it to the module.

      @JackofAllMasterofNone  Před 9 měsíci

      2014 is different wiring. It dosnt have the module like the 2015-up. Should just be relays and fuses.

  • @Rob-ow3bx

    Whats the part number for the module?

  • @user-wy5ik6zq4r
    @user-wy5ik6zq4r Před 5 měsíci

    Do you know if the module can intermittently fail? I randomly lose my left or right turn signals. I thought I had a bad connector and swapped the plug. Still have the issue.
