The guy who plays James, David's right hand, is the voice and motion capture actor for Joel in the video games, Troy Baker. He's probably the top voice actor working today. So, funny enough, Ellie kills Joel in this episode.

Loved the reaction Liala. This is my favorite episode thus far, ellie went beast mode on David and rightfully so. The way Joel took out the guys was savage. When Joel called ellie babygirl it broke me. Since episode 1 I've gone through 3 full boxes of tissues. I have no idea what kind of emotions the season finale is going to throw at us. The fact ellie snaps out of it as soon as she realizes it's joel is so emotional. You can just tell how much they care for each other. Also baby girl just sent me over the edge.

The sound design for this show is amazing to infer subtext and "hey, pay attention, this is important". When the Silver Lake commune started eating their dinner, there is a reason the sound amped up the spoons clanking in bowls and people chewing. Also, the editing in why it focused in on Hannah and also James eating. Also, the writing. David was just talking to Hannah about her father. The writing is so horrifically brilliant!
the entire show once it’s down is gonna be insane and cause everyone to need therapy. hopefully we’ll have a part 3 to go off of by then (i’m pretty sure part 2 is gonna be split into 2 seasons). I hope you don’t get spoiled like half the of tiktok

As I've played the game through about a dozen times, I did know about 70% of what was gonna happen...but still...it doesn't ever come any easier...
Ellie saved herself physically. Joel saved her emotionally
And physically as well. She was going to have a next to impossible time trying to get back to him, since Joel had to torture the location of the resort out of the guy, so she would’ve been on her own if Joel hadn’t showed up. She’s a survivor and made it past this one, but a 14yr old with no clue where’s she’s going wouldve ran out of luck sooner or later. She clearly still needs him. Not just emotionally.

I think the next episode is going to be a really good one. There is only one thing that is going to make me VERY sad. It is also the grand finale which will hopefully set it up for season 2 and make us scream in anticipation.
I’ve really enjoyed your reactions to this series! This episode was done so well…it’s nearly exactly like in the game! There are some game vs tv show videos out there worth checking out. Bella is absolutely killing it and has me convinced she was the right pick for Ellie but Ashley Johnson who should be in the next episode was such an amazing actor as Ellie in the game . as well as Troy Baker who was James in this episode and Joel in the game. Those two were so good…their chemistry was absolutely the reason this game was successful! It’s in my top 3 games of all time!

Venison = Human Man
Elk = Human Woman
Rabbit = Human Child
James asked about all three at the beginning and then when Joel finds the fridge you can see the headless man, woman, and child hanging 😱😱😱
