5 key takeaways from this inspirational video to save 2 hours of your life:
    1. Don't plunge blindly into your aspiring business, but follow a well-thought-out plan for confidence and security.
    2. Utilize bottleneck analysis to overcome obstacles and progress efficiently towards your goal.
    3. Draw motivation from anti-goals rooted in past pain (as suggested by Dickie), or through gamification (as suggested by Ali)
    4. Only initiate a project when the worst possible outcome is a positive net result, the project has potential for immense success, and you have the capacity to commit to it long-term.
    5. Having more time in the day will not necessarily increase the likelihood of success (based on Parkinson's Law). Prioritize improving your time management and motivation first.
I found these insights very resonant and am motivated to apply them all.

The amount of value in this is mind blowing and potentially worth millions.
I made time to listen to this podcast by listening to it while driving both on my way to work and home. (I dont work 8 hours, I work freakin' 12)
I'm going to be breaking this episode down later on and turn it into notes, and then implement from there.

7:39 My personal & practical advice for no energy after day job: 1. Check your sleep. Bad Sleep will kill 100% of your productivity! I found out I had sleep apnea due to nasal inflammation. Once I fixed and started sleeping better, I was no longer tired after work.
    2. Switch job to something “easier” if you need to. I went from a demanding consulting job to a fulltime remote dev position. I started having more control over time and energy!
Good luck to yall and me on this journey!

This video was great as background to getting my kids ready this morning and cleaning up.
    Things I have learned...
    - Digital illustration
    - Surface Pattern Design
    - Living and Teaching Abroad
    - Lesson Planning and Material Creation
    - So many craft (embroydery, knitting, crochet, scrapbooking, planning, sewing)
    - Parenting (0-5)
    Things I want to learn...
    - Video Editing + animation in video
    - Art Liscensing
    - Designing and Manufacturing stationary and accessories.
    - more crafts (punch needle, beading, gouache painting)
    - Parenting and beyond
    - Dance
    - Writing children's books
I love planning, organizing, and inhaling all the information. My bottle neck is actually making progress towards my goals. Doing the work and not getting caught up in doing things that do not move the needle forward like Ali's friend and CZcams. I found it helpful to reverse engineer my goal of 2000 dollars a month from business. I definitely need more eyes on what I have to offer. And although I have been focusing on instagram, I love and spend way more time on CZcams. So I would like to try that being my main platform.

    My top lessons so far:
    - You always have more time than you think you have
    - The world around you is limiting your beliefs
    - Make content about what you 2 years ago would love to know
    - What do you want to know in 2 Years?
    - Learn it and then teach others through your struggle
    - Watching Netflix etc. will drain your energy more than working on your dream hustle
    - Apply your personal touch to some advice from e.g. Atomic Habits
    - Your ideal client should be able to say with 100% certainty
**AI won’t replace you but someone using AI will replace you**
    - 5000 years ago people already said
    - Get started
    - Be consistent
    - Learn from others and curate other models and then make your own
    - The coolest people are 1 year ahead of you

    This was packed with information!
It was clearly not an entertainment but something that 1) gave me content ideas and 2) Something that gave me the information to remove the bottleneck, in my case gave me the idea of bottleneck thinking and repeating this journaling prompt
My learnings (and content ideas :) )
    - Productivity content is procrastrination unless it helps in one of the 2 above
    - Make something sustainable by not requiring huge amounts of new effort (e.g. yt channel with lots of research)
    - Make a flywheel by always talking to yourself 2y ago.
    - If you feel drained at your job, that's the reason to work on your side-project, to leave the job
    - Having limited amounts of energy is a self-belief
    - Differentiate what you do to feel energized from what you do when you are drained. They are not the same. What you do when you are drained, drains you more
    - Niche down your content by applying it. Make another atomic habits video, but talking how you applied it
    - NIche down your service by providing very personalized service to max 1-4 clients
    - AI won't replace you, but someone using AI will
    - Nobody is creating something new. Quotes thousands of years ago said the same than productivity books now
    - Start curating for years. Then you can have your own frameworks that bulid on all this knowledge. Dickie did with twitter threads. Ali did with productivity videos. Now both have their frameworks, courses, books...
    - Break your brain more often. Achieve a next level of the game with delegation (e.g. selling while you sleep, having a video edited with 0h of your time)
    - Iterate on a product by having close contact with the first cohort
    - There's only one bottleneck at a time (reference book "the goal"). Same concept as critical path in software engineering and project management. No matter how much you improve things around it, until you improve the bottleneck things won't move faster
    - Repeat bottleneck thinking as journaling prompt: Find number #1 bottleneck, find resources to surpass it, consume just the resources needed and iterate
    - Example Ali bottlenecks:
    - Script of videos word by word -> Script of video by bullet points
    - Friction to start recording stacking books -> Buy a tripod
    - Takes 1 hour to setup recording setup -> Leave it always ready to hit record
    - Not enough content ideas -> Build the system.
    - Not enough content ideas -> Hire someone for it
    - only apply bottleneck thinking to something that will take you where you want.
    - Niche down your product picking specific platform (market in 1 channel and become excellent at it), specific problem (that you solve), specific person (depending on their stage of their journey), specific way (your solution)
    - PIck the money you want to make and work backward. By default we lower our expectations instead of raising our bar to achieve what we want
    - Growth is cyclic. You grow to next level, all your systems break, you re-create them to become comfortable again, then you are ready to push to next level
    - Your wealth is a function of the vlaue you create to others. This moves from zero-sum to positive-sum game. You create value and capture some
    - You have to charge for others to commit to it. This generates sunk cost on people and they see things through completion
I'm going to have content for my LinkedIn and my future youtube channel for a while after this interview

    Hi Ali!
Here are my 3 things I learned from this Episode:
    1. Don’t just summarize existing content. Provide a unique angle by sharing how you have personally applied the information into your own life.
    2. Share the knowledge and experiecences you gained in the last two years and create content around it, so people two years behind you can benefit from what you experienced. By continuously documenting your journey and sharing knowledge, you participate in an infinite game of progress, learning, and teaching others, ensuring continuous growth and creating valuable connections.
    3. The way to reach significant revenue goals is by follow the 4 layers of specificity on marketing. Focus on one specific platform, targeting a specific person with a specific problem that they are willing to pay for, and offering a specific solution in a unique way.

33:08 intentional content consumption. 1. Is this helping me create more in future?
    2. Is this helping me remove the bottleneck in my business or personal life

I loved this conversation and did do the exercise. But I wanted to take the space here to say I think it’s impressive how Ali and Dickie can both be so relatable despite being such extraordinary achievers. It made me think, would I still value the advice if Dickie did not work at blackrock and if Ali never became a doctor?
And the answer is 100%. This was a masterclass on value creation by covering the past 2 years of learnings. And talking 2 years out too.
What I love even more is how Dickie created value through curation when he started even though he could’ve leaned into his Blackrock experience.
I’d still love to hear Ali or Dickie expand on this at some point though.
For those who may not have the super impressive credential or resume item yet that builds trust instantly, does that impact one’s strategy with how they will go about shipping their work?
Thank you again for the amazing insights, this bottleneck analysis made me take it more seriously in my journaling. I had been doing this but it felt like a waste of time until I heard Dickie’s full rationale behind it. Made me go from guilty to proud that I’m spending time on this stuff

I need "Feel Good Parenting" now! I Love Ali's advice and videos, and this interview didn't disappoint. It's really applicable to entrepreneurs. I've worked for myself for the past 15 years, with lots of highs and lows. I've now got two businesses and multiple channels. But becoming a parent is a game changer. It's the most rewarding experience but so challenging when it comes to productivity and time management. How to balance being a present parent and a productive business owner. So intrigued to see how Ali does when he becomes a parent.

As a father of two small kids I can only confirm what you said about the time management. There are times when I don't have 5 minutes in a day to go to the toilet by myself. I have to admit I really felt the way you described "I will do it when I have more time, if only I had more free time I could do it ... ". Thank you for your pod. this made me realise I have to push true and not make excuses. I was really thinking about quitting my job not realising that is not the solution for my inefficiency. That's for the motivational part. You talking about AI was really eye opening. I almost started feeling very lethargic since the dawn of AI. Mostly because anything I wrote chat GPT just did better. It came to the point where I was really like not trying at all. I would formulate something and as a non native speaker GPT would just obliterate my sentence structure. Now this part was really genius " AI will not replace your job, someone with AI will... (Or something like that). I feel I looked at it wrong way. I should use AI to fine tune my content not to create it from the scratch. The basic ideas should came from my head and my experience to be unique and not generic just AI created. Now writing my blog really felt dull since chat GPT but this made me realise I should see it as an opportunity to improve what I want to articulate and fine tune it with AI. Now sure if you guys are going to read this but THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this! Cheers, Martin

What I've learned in last 2 years:
    - Make decisions based on how I'll feel after the decision, not how I feel before. - Helps me make choices that are difficult but lead to the results I am proud of.
    - You learn and gain 10x, 100x more from taking messy actions than by reading other peoples "perfect work" - I avoided doing the hard thing by just reading and listening but feared that actions I knew I needed to take out of fear of judgement.
    - You'll gain more traction in life by raising your standards than you will trying to reach your potential.
What I want to learn over the next 2 years:
    - How to run a successful Agency helping part-time coaches build credibility and respect within their space.
    - How to manage & leverage my finances like a respected CEO
    - Creating a successful podcast that provides real value for its listeners and guests.

Love this podcast! About time someone is giving a different perspective on side hustle’s and entrepreneurship. Too many ‘gurus’ tell the masses to quit their job, jump in the deep end …. This podcast is more valuable to 65/70% of people thinking of starting a side hustle. I work a job as a Senior paid search executive for a cruise company and run a solo digital marketing agency on the side. Everyone who knows me says why don’t I quit my job to do this full time but if I had more time, I’m not going to make more money and I’m happy earning a very decent income with security behind it.

@36:36 Watching this now as a parent and yes I definitely look back at my life before becoming a parent... I had so much free time! Saying that though, I see the silver lining in becoming a parent and working on my goals, I have no time to waste, every free time I get HAS to be smart use of my time, otherwise I have to either spend money on childcare or find another way to free up my time where I can focus on working on my goals. In a way, parenting has helped me reduce procrastination because I know I just don't have that luxury anymore lol. But I know when I look back to what I'm doing now with parental responsibilities, I can appreciate my journey a lot more because despite all the excuses I can make, I still chose to invest my time wisely to set my future self up for success. 1. You will become an expert one day but it doesn't have to be today, and that should not stop you from creating or posting content. You grow as you go
    2. Most of the content are repurposed and it's from someone else
    3. You are the niche as you apply the learning to your journey and document or share it with others who are behind you, or ahead of you
    4. Use both Positivity and some scary thoughts about how the future will be if u don't do anything about ur current situation to motivate you to take action
    5. Belief and mindset when correct, generates empowering thoughts, puts you in a better emotional state, encourages you to take action, consistent action brings about the dream life eventually

    - Figuring out what to do with my life/career path -- You don’t need a special skill to start sharing what you do, you need a vision and you learn as you go and do things. Try different things.
    - Sharing your little knowledge on the internet -- Expertise is not measured by follower counts or certifications but your experience with the topic. Your journey is the proof.
    - You don’t have to be boxed to one thing to build a brand (niche) -- Start early, and share your journey not just information.
    - Waiting for the perfect time -- You can do school and work and still build your brand
    ### What I want to learn:
    - Branding, brand psychology, and brand management
    - Entrepreneurship and business concepts
    - Digital/content marketing and sales
    - Content flow and systems management
    - Problem-solving and Product creation
    - Storytelling
    - Simple visual designs and editing for content creation
    - Critical thinking and leadership
    - Productivity
    - Wellness; body and mind

I like in the beginning of the podcast where he said not everyone is an entrepreneur. And this is really very realistic. He's not trying to sell a lifestyle that doesnt fit you or something that you are not willing to take a risk

Hi Ali. Hi Dickie. Thank you so much for this practical and valuable content. So much to learn, with practicable action. 2 things I wish my 2 year younger self knew: 1. I wish I had someone to guide me on how to make a great career choice, I spent so much time in a place of indecision not being sure what my strengths were and what I should align to. 2. I wish I had someone to guide me on how to not be stuck in the same place for so long. 2 things I would like to learn in the next 2 years: 1. Business development and growth 2.Creating content for sales and marketing
