I feel little bit better myself because my pickup truck is now cleaner and more organized 😬 I hope we will get the van modification video at some point! 👍
I love how they are increasing fore safety for buildings when it was a dodgy cheap fridge, flammable cladding on the outside and completely non-functioning fire systems. Regulations don't work unless they are enforced in the first place
Ahh the joys of rodding over joists as much as I love being a sparky I absolutely hate that part of the job especially if it’s lathe plaster black bogies for days
3 hours of pink board but I guarantee you will find gaps and places with out intumescent collars and sealant making all completely redundant... I see it all the time.
Awww man new video!!!... Thomas just wanted to let you know I am new subscriber to your channel and today I was speaking about you to my Scottish sparky pal at the gym today recommending he follow you as your such an amazing inspiring supersparky!!! Hope your get more followers. Your content is legit amazing!!!
ahh great to see you dug dave out of the van! lol jk, great to see you both happy as usual... now when is sparky #3 appearing? (well the three sparkiteers! lol) glad dave is better! hope your ok too tom! 😜 thought you'd get missed out didnt you! 😜 lol
Would you happen to know specifically the regs (that you mention at 3:00) that require houses to have some form of automatic fire suppression system installed? AFAIK the only changes to building regs approved document B were that "only desktop testing" of external cladding installations should not be performed. I'd much appreciate this info Tom. Great vid as always mate. Glad to see Dave is still with the living!
Just speculating here, but I imagine it's because they removed a partition from the kitchen, leaving it no longer separated from bedrooms or main living area. ie a fire in the kitchen could impede the escape route from a bedroom.
Hi, I just wanted to recommend M&J aluminum for your new van. They do a great job and the custom make the shelf to fit your needs. My dads been using them for years now they make great stuff that lasts.
often messages just need to be passed on {relayed} and they can be set to listen thus no hands required to hear answer for a message , some also have a VOX function and as such can "hear" back for a few secounds after transmiting
I knew there would be comments about the hourly rate. Let's break this down. Thom doesn't earn £70 per hour for 8 hours a day 52 weeks a year. He doesn't get paid holiday money or sick pay. He doesn't get paid for the work he does in the evening looking for materials, pricing work up that he doesn't get or planning the next days work. He doesn't get paid for sitting in traffic, he doesn't get paid for picking up material and he doesn't get paid for pricing jobs up. Ok, so that is probable 1/2 of his day taken up. Some days more, some days less, but you get the point. Now allow for the cost of the van, Insurance Road tax Diesel congestion charges parking etc. Now consider £10'000+ worth of tools which need to get a return on investment and you start to see that £70 per hour isn't that much for central London.
exactly! People say £70,80,90 an hour is extortion - but it isnt, its called charging fairly for YOUR skill that YOU spent five years busting a gut for being the teaboy bitch on a cold site. If you invest years of your time into a skill, you deserve to charge accordingly. Completely agree and well said that man!
@@thomasnagy Did you do Part 1 and 2 then? I also did an 'apprenticeship'. I did the 2330 for 3 years, paid out my own pocket, as well as the 17th Edition at the time. I never did manage to get my NVQ 3 portfolio together, nevermind the AM2, as the company I was with could never gte where they would be working one week to the next. So I could never get an appointment for anyone to come to 'site'. Jobs never lasted more than a few days at the most, as it was council work. College couldn't help that much. They had plenty of big firm apprentices to take care of so why would they go out of their way for me? A let down if you ask me. Big career, lol. I can't remember actually bending any conduit on the job. What was the f**ing point?
The only oxymoron to the fire rated cable of course is the (sub)main is not usually fire rated, so it's somewhat pointless unless the suppression system has battery back up.
6.55 Maybe I'm wrong Tom but I don't think with can put labels any more saying no RCD protection (for what ever reason) like we used to under 17th in a dwelling. We need RCD protection on all circuits?
this is the pickle... I was reading through the Manufacturer instructions and they say they dont want it on an RCD. Im guessing because its a life safety system and they dont want nuisance tripping but thats just my guess?
@@thomasnagy Yes I think you are correct Tom because manufacturing instructions do supersede the Regs guidance. So would we enter it as a non compliance to BS7671?
I would point out BS 7671 tells you in the front about other British Standards that should be referred to in specialised areas including BS 5839 the fire regs. In those regs it is a requirement that no RCD protection be fitted on any supply to a fire alarm. Because its a specialised area with it's own regs it supersedes BS 7671 in that area only.
have u ever heard of magnepull system. I use the 2 strong magnets taped onto 2 sets of rods. push a set into each hole and when they meet the magnets will lock onto each other. saves you cutting the shit out of your arms.
Hi. I'm interested in the 2 way radios you are using. What's the range of them and Are they free to use or do you need to register and have a monthly payment? I remembered you saying in a nother video they work of phone signals. Cheers.
I got pulled over by a cop for using a 2 way radio. I knew it was ok, he didn’t. I argued, he checked and found out he was wrong but because I’d made him look like a cock, he checked every part of my vehicle. He found nothing which pissed him off even more. He followed me for 10 minutes after letting me go to try and catch he me doing something like speeding. Nope.

Auto-mist systems seem like a good idea, until you have an oil fire 🤔

One benefit is you can legally hold the radios when driving.

They use the mobile phone bands for comms, therefore they are phones. Even if they look like radios.
