    It’s funny seeing people in the comments talk about the Kangoo’s lack of range

      That's an ok argument until we have an electric switch off as I experienced growing up as a kid. Also bare it in mind Tom charged up while working, that availability is so ready either but pot luck. On another day Tom's van would be useless as well. Stuck on the side of the N Circular, Time is money and all. I want this to work so badly, but we're nowhere near it yet.

    • @Azeria
      @Azeria Pƙed 2 lety +2

      @@wm6204 we’re literally very near, and the entire fact you have to state you experienced power cuts as a *kid* really doesn’t help your case either. This Kangoo is a last generation, small van full of kit. This generation gets vastly better range, and that’ll only keep improving, in ten years it’s a no brainer, especially if you can’t even buy a diesel van in the first place. And finally, again, I’m literally saying good bushiness practice is to not only rely on one technology to get your job done

    • @wm6204
      @wm6204 Pƙed 2 lety

      @@Azeria l totally agree with you, it's the way to go, much cleaner. but these vehicles are nowhere near good enough. Only for the luck of a charging station Tom would have had a long wait on the N Circular. He's stressed out enough without out worrying about breaking down. Unfortantly our government doesn't support this technology anywhere near enough. Instead only taxing us to push these big corporations. The market fails us but slowly pushes out this stuff only to buy again and again. We're supposed to be going away from the throw away society towards a sustainable one. It's not joined up thinking 👍 Atb.

    As soon as the vet practice know that you pet is insured they load the price and that's a fact it happened to me we were seen by the vet and then went to pay the cost was ÂŁ80.00 but when we said we needed a receipt for the insurance the receptionists put the price chart away and brought another charge card out a all of a sudden the bill went up toÂŁ180.00. Even before covid these guys were wearing masks.

    Looks like a nice intercom. You can run 12v as long as you want as long as the cables beefy enough to keep the drop down. If it will work on 24v you can double up the conductors for 12v. If your lucky enough to have 2 spares.

    • @mrfrenzy.
      @mrfrenzy. Pƙed 2 lety

      Doubling up cables doesn't always work. A lot of 24V equipment works fine on 15V, while 12V devices often die around 10V.

      To be honest it's not uncommon, I was having a moan about led stuff failing to my NIC guy, he said, it was because it's designed for 230v and our voltage is all over the place, so it's to be expected.
      I have also had the problem with pv inverters, have had a few that kept shutting down, and it was because it was greater than their rated voltage.

    The proper way to fix a sticking solenoid is remove it, take out the armature then thoroughly clean both the armature and the coil bore with a solvent (use kitchen towel twisted into the coil bore) WD40 will only be a temporary fix. I used to fix outdoor vending machines which contained LOADS of solenoids and yes I'd use WD40 as a quick emergency fix if it was pissing with rain, freezing cold or near going home time but next time I was near that machine or had spare time I'd clean it properly because I'd only be going back there soon anyway once the WD40 wore off. A properly cleaned solenoid doesn't need any lubricant, lubricants help dust etc. stick together and it will stick again. Good if you get paid for callbacks though.

      @@dazednconfused31337 that’s because the government state that cars made before 2011 may require the premium E5. The reality is that the major brands switch back in 2000 to cater for it anyway. Ford for example is fine for all made after this period.

    ÂŁ150 is a very good rate for the areas you are covering. If I was working at inner London I wouldn't do anything on less that ÂŁ100/h + costs. If you want to have a decent life you need to charge a decent rate. With the rates some people thing they can only work only I would rather go back in building sites

    My house (a rental) is wired like the East London job; 1 ring supplying a large 3 bed house. Granted, nearly all the sockets in the house are singles. Due to lack of sockets, I have break-out extensions all over the bloody place though. Thankfully; it's not caused a problem but it was picked up when the last EICR was done (as an observation).
    On the topic of rates; I saw something the other day (I don't recall where) someone was moaning about ÂŁ60 for the replacement of a damaged light switch in a flat. All the keyboard warriors were banging on about how they could replace it for ÂŁ3 and all that. But by the time you get a proper sparky to come to do the job, bring the part and pay for a call out...ÂŁ60 is pretty reasonable.
