Here on TheTopher, I'm known for putting a camera on my face and driving cars. Whether it's about any of my personal cars or reviews on weekly press vehicles, the goal is to give you an idea of what a certain car is like to drive or live with. Most of my videos are filmed in POV, with my clothes on, and (for like the 5th time) with in-ear binaural audio. Which, if I haven't made it clear yet, is why you should wear headphones. Because of the whole "woah" factor. It's there, trust me. Try it, it's pretty nuts. Or don't. As long as you whitelist me on your adblocker I'm okay with whatever you do or don't do with regards to headphone usage. That is all. Oh and I guess you should also probably subscribe. Bought my dad a long horn eco diesel. I wasn’t sold on the diesel since I love the v8 rumble. But they’ve done an amazing job making that Diesel engine so smooth. He doesn’t run quarter miles and drives smoothly and at high way speeds it’s way quieter than I thought. Amazing job ram
Diesel engines in modern vehicles are very refined now, old diesels we’re always known to be loud, dirty and clunky with power delivery, that’s no longer the case, nowadays Diesel engines are just as refined as gasoline engines. They’re very quiet and very smooth.

I love this truck and when you mention that this is a $70,000 truck, I believe its worth every penny. The level of luxury and capability that you are getting for the money compared to what other trucks in the segment are offering is simply unparalled. Ram really stepped up their game and I can't wait to buy my Laramie Longhorn when I graduate this spring!
It's still overpriced, this should cost closer to 50k than 70k.
If you are in Canada you can get the sport trim level and option it out and get literally every feature the limited has (and save $12,000CAD)
I’ve only had my limited crew cab a week and I’m still learning all the toys this truck has. I traded in my 16 Laramie and this thing is far and above that one. On;y issue is I want to drive it all the time lol. Great review.

Excellent video as usual, can you try to do one on the 2500 Cummins turbo diesel?
One annoyance that I forgot to mention with apple car play (I experienced this in the Wrangler last week, too) - there doesn't seem to be a way to set the voice volume in Waze or Google maps. You can turn it down while it's talking, but it'll resume to its default (and loud) volume level with the next prompt. This gets pretty annoying when you're trying to have a conversation in the cabin and just want your Waze volume on low.
Are you going to drive the 2019 Silverado/Sierra?
Is that maybe an issue with all apple CarPlay? My wife has a Buick TourX and I also can’t adjust the voice directions volume
Could be, but I haven’t noticed it in too many other cars.
I agree they need to figure that issue out. A temporary fix in the meantime is If you have on waze or maps, you can click to turn the guidance off if you dont want any directions being verbally said yet it will still show you the route and where to make turns.
I drive a 2017 Hyundai Elantra limited and when I use Waze in apple CarPlay, I can turn down just the navigation volume when it’s giving me a direction prompt. It does say nav volume instead of just music volume so that might be car maker specific.

MOPAR 401 pffft I’ll level with you I have a 5.0 2016 f150 I dragged raced a 2012 eco boost I got waxed hard. I towed his camper with it and wasn’t really impressed compared to the 3.5 I like the v8 but compared to the eco boost it just can’t compete
Reason I got the 5.0 is because I’m not planning on upgrading anytime soon you’d think the v8 would last longer but that isn’t really case
Ram does an incredible job at making a fast, smooth and comfortable truck. Even the tradesmen trim will comfortably cruise at 90 no problem. Love the interior here.

Agreed. Brings the point home if Toyota decided to enter the 3/4-1ton market with it's reputation for reliability and solid build it would in my opinion take out one of the big three or at the very least make them switch places with Toyota.
Just like the F150 is about the only thing keeping Ford alive and the Silverado/Sierra/Tahoe/Suburban are the things keeping GM alive.

Some of the strangest decisions is making the heater and AC controls part of the infotainment system because once you start putting some mileage on the truck the screens starts to act up, freezing and even deciding not to work at all. One thing is for sure is that RAM did not think about long term reliability when making this truck. plus RAM says that their transmission oil should last a life time of the truck whatever that means..for people who do some heavy or a lot of up hill towing you should change the transmission oil yourself just to stay in the safe side since the trans coolant system is not going to be enough..specially with RAM history with premature transmission wear. Truck manufacturers are becoming more concerned with making trucks more flashy than functional
the climate control has redundant buttons on either side of the screen.

There's controls outside the screen, and none of the trucks at my work have had screen issues and that includes many many years old trucks brought in from customers that need service

Personally I would settle with a Big horn or Laramie given that they are cheaper and have just as many features as a fully specked Ford/Chevy.
North Territorial, I take that to my grandparents every week or so. I bet that truck handled it a lot better than my Mountaineer lol.

Lexus has some beautiful interior like the LC500. But their infotainment are somehow the worst and most frustrating to use.

Great video. Month ago we got the Ram Longhorn. A real treat when driving around and on the highway. Great sounding audio. Don’t have the Etorq or air bags. Yes an expensive truck but the ford and GM were not much cheaper. Compared options to options. By far Ram was an easy sell for me. My second pick was the Ford.

No denying this is cool truck if you want luxury in a truck. I guarantee the problems will be overwhelming with time. This is not the truck you buy and keep for any length of time. This is a perfect truck to lease and use as a write off for your business and then dump it back in there lap when issues start. And they will. I’ve never owned a dodge or been a big fan hopefully they will work it all out. I’d love to have this truck in a 3500 diesel when I’m in my 60s to tow my 5th wheel back and fort to Florida. But as far as work goes I’ll stick with ford or GM.
Kinda agree. I own a Colorado and I'd choose GM or Ford every day over a Dodge. I've seen way too many issues first hand. I'm thinking this interior is like putting new paint over a moldy rotting wall.
It made my sweet Ford Ranger submit in shame specially the delicate tailgate move.
I have a 2020 Laramie Crew Cab with the 12 inch screen sport package and it is awesome. The color he has is granite crystal metallic clear coat. It looks ridiculous in the sunlight. Truly is the best truck on the market today. Ridiculous as in why does it look so great?

Tbh I prefer the older dodges from 2000s. I don’t like all the new stuff. Especially how they got rid of the key ignition. I don’t like the button ignition.

the tires on the rebel make the ride MUCH stiffer. crazy how big a difference off road tires have when it comes to comfort compared to a street tire. night and day.

Now the million dollar question. Do you trust the RAM’s longevity (paint, plastics, engine, electronics, etc.) over 10yrs+ vs a Tundra?
As. Ice as the 12” center is, I actually prefer the higher end 8” system better. I like the actual dials for the heating/cooling controls.
There are heating and cooling controls on the side of the infotainment system.

I have been watching car reviews from everyone for the past few months now because I’m in the market to purchase one. I must say you are in my top three reviewers on you tube ! You do a great job! I’ve never owned a pickup truck before and have always had a full size SUV both Chevy and Cadillac but this model may change my mind. The only thing that concerns me is comments from other people saying no thanks I’m not buying Ram rust! So now as I travel around and I’m looking at older models of the Dodge pickups I have noticed so much body rot on their trucks. I hope they have switched metals in their newer models to address this.

What equipment are you using for your recording
As much as I love my Tacoma I find myself needing a full size truck more and more and the ram is going to be my next truck, Big horn crew cab 4x4, I would love the power wagon but just way too much money.
pilot steve longhorn is better as far as I know sick interior and it just looks good
You can get the power wagon package on a Tradesman also for a lot less. Same capabilities

What is the little mirror meant for?
The only downside to this truck are the seats. That's the only place they did focus special attention. At 6'4 I live in a world of compromised thigh support where attention is given only within the super luxury sedans. These luxury trucks have the space but not the option. Even an aftermarket upgrade would move it from a 90 to 100. Alas, such is the world I live in.

Even though I don't need a truck I can confidently say I'd take a used Land Cruiser and save $30k + any day if I need to tow.
This is the most top of the line you can get. You dont have to spend 50-70k for a 1500.

It doesn't need it anymore than it does any of the other features and doohickeys found on modern vehicles, but it's a nice feature that some people are willing to pay for. If you want more simplicity, try a wheelbarrow.
Because it's a fad to buy trucks now that double as luxury SUVs.
@@MrCarGuy It's not a fad. Things scale up and spending power on vehicles generally increases, and more features become more common. It was once a high-end item to have power mirrors, but even low-end cars come with these things standard now. That in a whole list of things that are common these days.
@@MrCarGuy It's not a fad at all. Vehicles just inevitably become more and more packed with features and technology. You'd have had to pay $120,000 for an S-Class or a Range Rover to get half the stuff packed into this truck not long, but now it's worked its way closer to mainstream.

It’s a beautiful truck but, my brother in-law has the same truck only with a diesel and great engine! But the quality of the rest of the truck is poor! He’s had so many issues with power seat, buttons... rear passenger door outside handle literally is starting to separate from the door! And headlights shake up and down even over the smallest bumps like they are loose is the housings... plastic parts in cab are loose.... it’s a ton of money for the poor quality of this beautiful truck sadly ✌🏻🇨🇦
