They have enough obscure references that it is obvious they did the research, but so many glaring flaws that it is also clear they didn't care to be accurate. For the best, I suppose, the actual myth of Hercules is FAR from family oriented (he got his first murder in as a kid when he smashed his lute over his music teacher's head, for starters... not counting the multiple rapes, pillages, beating his own wife and kids to death, multiple sex partners of both main genders that they were *not* putting in a 90s film, etc)

Actually that's Roger Bart providing the singing voice of Hercules, not Michael Bolton. The Bolton version of "Go The Disctance" can be heard during the movie's end credits.

“Older Hercules” is still only 15-18 at the most. Likely more around 14 at first when he’s skinny, and 16 after training.

Meg basically showed her feet to Hercules because I’m Greek mythology Achille only weakness was his heel and he died by an arrow hitting it. I guess they made that reference as normal as possible since it would be hard for her to show him her heel in that position 🫠😂

So I know the Scar pelt was traumatizing, but it's accurate to the myth in a sense. Hercules defeated a lion and did wear it's pelt, they just threw Scar in as a reference to their other movie. Disney did that even back then lol

18:35 Just like you, I found Meg very strange with her feet when I watched it as a kid. But this scene with Meg's foot has a reason: ACHILLES' HEEL!!! Yes! Meg probably knows the story of Achilles, who was defeated by being hit in the heel. And she was looking for a weakness in Hercules and thought that he might also have a weakness similar to Achilles. Today I understand this, now as an adult.

"Strong Independent" Meg: Relying on a contract with the God Of the Underworld to fulfill her wishes.
