Vasanas and Samaskaras are tendencies. Desires create tendencies and grooves in the mind. Habbits become pathways.Vasanas and Sansakaras make you the type of person you become. Reincarnation is of Vasanas and Samskaras.

Does the trauma suffered by a kid by their parents is because of the vasanas?
6:15 The problem with that story is that a woman of her time would have naturally referred to a male acquaintance as 'brother'. So that doesn't prove anything.
