What a great blast from the past. Razer before it was improved. Blendo with the Mythbusters. Killerhurtz, Biohazard, and Mortis making appearances too!

Seeing Razer in the Battlebox with the Mythbusters bot is so surreal.
The BattleBots Beginnings video covers the Long Beach event, including the heavyweight rumble. I have it on VHS, tucked away in my garage, but I no longer have a VCR. The video can be purchased on VHS or DVD on Amazon.
That rumble holds my favorite fighting robot moment: Razer clamps on FrenZy's nose, piercing it. FrenZy whacks Razer on the head repeatedly, locked together. Then Voltronic picks them both up & parades them around while they continue to scuffle in the air, balanced perfectly!
I think Battlebots was the only place Mortis could fight without being booed.
First time I've seen Razer lose.

Killerhurtz was in there too, 2 great axes and 1 great crusher.
Because it wasn't originally designed for Battlebots, it was designed for the smaller, more crowded arena used in Robot Wars.

I didn’t know Razer competed in Battlebots too?! Huh. I thought it was just a Robot Warz exclusive
@infernolab Thanks, yeah I thought it may have been Kill-o-Amp at first, but I remembered it having a different shape in a later Battlebots tournament, maybe they added the plow/triangle at the front for extra offense.

I'll actually agree here with an explanation as to why they get an honourable mention. They're responsible for actually making robots HAVE to be equipped with decent armour.
Yeah, Grant Imahara also had a Battlebot, a middleweight named "Deadblow." Was Season 1 runner up.
Tazbot gave Razer a good run for their money. They seem to counter act Razers design. What a splendid rumble this was!

of course he is as he created ... blendo ( the short round shaped dome bot with the shirt yellow blade surrounding its base perimeter) had been deemed too hazardus in early robot wars...and tbh both his bot and grant imahara's Deadblow bot did influence a lot of later designs that adapted their design

We still fight these things. Just because you don't see this on TV anymore doesn't mean you can't participate in the sport.

Couldn't agree more! Mortis was a world champion if only they knew how to drive the bloody thing. It would've smashed Razer because it was bulletproof, but it never got to the finals. Whereas Ian Lewis and Simon Scott (Razer) drove every battle with their noses on the plastic shield like a computer game... Mortis took the robot building WAY too seriously and Razer takes the driving and the winning WAY too seriously... they should've built something together, it would've been invincible haha =]
Razer was doing well until the later half of the battle when something got tangeled into its front wheel. You can see it if you pause the video.
Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage are Creators of "Blendo",designed and built by Jamie Hyneman. Adam Savage wired the electronics and control systems. While Grant Imahara is the creator of Deadblow.
biohazard was the best and will always be my favorite battlebot

Was a little surprised that bot won. I thought its slow lift would not be that effective. Great fight.

Bummer that this is the closest Razer and BioHazard will ever come against each other and they were mostly separate ways with the other bots in the rumble. I've always wanted to see those two bots battle each other 1 on 1.
Biohazard clearly flipped over a bot off camera before flipping over Blendo. Which bot was that?
At 5:48, when you see Blendo flipped, the upside-down bot in the back is Namreko. Not sure if Biohazard flipped him, though.
infernolab I definitely think that was done by Biohazard,Jason.You can see it from the mirror image of the lexan,and Namreko was flipped by a lifting arm that's almost identical to Biohazard's.

This was a great battle with Razer and Mortis plus Biohazard. Although Razer seemed quite sluggish and Mortis wasn't working very well
I'd say Razer's the most destructive non-spinner. It was really effective, but machines like Nightmare, Son of Whyachi, Warhead (same team as Razer), Ziggo, Hazard, and more recently Last Rites have caused more damage individually overall.
I like how Tazbot holds its own!
@TheLegacyofHitchcock. Slugger did not lose its tires. Perhaps you are referring to Kill-o-Amp, which lost its treat, which was screwed on to its wheel rims. Kill-o-Amp had tremendous power & torque & stripped its tread.

Ok, you win. Razer won three "world" championships in the uk. Then he got beat by tazbot lol. Ill have to see some of these tournements. Never knew there was an world championships. I'm curious to see them. :)

I know this will sound biased, but it would be tilted in Biohazard's favor. Razer does well against any robot it can safely get under, like Chaos 2, Dantomkia, etc. However, Biohazard's skirts prevent most robots from getting under it, and although Razer was able to outwedge a lot of machines, it would probably be hard-pressed to do so. Also, Biohazard has a lot of redundant components and systems.
Razer, however, can't be immobilized by flipping because of its sirmech, so who knows?
Apparently the show was out of ideas and viewers and said "fuck it lets just throw every bot in the arena at once"
At the time, Hypnodisc was pretty destructive, however it didn't so much destroy entire robots as tear their armour off. It wouldn't be within a list of the top-10 most destructive robots, but it would definitely deserve an honorable mention.
I need to see everything Razer ever did at Battlebots.

Looks like him, I'd say yes. Adam and Grant both have robots, so it's plausible he'd have one too.
lol at Tazbot carrying Razer at 0:46. Also, how did that Perspex box (forgot its name- Slugger?) lose its tyres soon afterwards at about 1:00? And 4:08, Razer and Blendo, two mighty revolutionary machines in Robot Combat meet.
Commiserations to Razer for surviving to a judge's decision like it did here, particularly with its front-wheel drive crippled like that. Pity we didn't see more of Mortis or Killerhurtz, though =/

If so we have Razor and Mortis in the same 6ft space at 3:32. Both British winners of best design in Robot Wars.
Yes I mean robot wars, the robot wars WORLD championships, its called that for a reason. There were several american entries in each of the three tournaments.
Blendo did that first, but Hypnodisc really proved how important decent armour was even in a flipper-dominated scene.

I never thought I'd see the day, where Razer was in the Battlebox.
I also never thought I'd see the day where Razer performed so poorly, so today's just a huge surprise.
yeah, razor didnt do good at all in battle bots.. But if it came back i bet it would do something.. or even better, it would be amazing if they brought back WarHead, I miss that bot so much.

they got a scholarship along with bigger brother and killerhurtz to enter battlebots. Razer was replaced with warhead later on

That would be Megabyte, but he didn't make his appearance until season 5. In the meantime, we had to settle for wannabes like Mauler and Sharkbyte.
