EdwardsBots 2023 Royal Rumble (in Jan 2024...)
At my employer, @EdwardsGlobal , a couple of colleagues & I put together our 2nd annual EdwardsBots tournament in the Advanced Technology department:
10 teams, bots based on Fingertech Vipers but w/ a higher 700g weight limit, no dangerous weapons, double elimination.
We had a great time. This year, the teams were even more creative than last time--the variety & ingenuity of the bots (in both aesthetics & functionality) were considerably greater than in our 1st event.

mushi is a "smotherbot", that plays for score, you get weapon points for every bounce and drag him to floor hazards to maintain control of the match not a fantastic design but definitely had a win condition against other light bots

Where’d you get those parts to model a bot like that? It doesn’t seemed based from the EV3 Education Kit.
Thanks. Check the date. This video is from 2001, which is 12 years before EV3 was released. Some of these parts are from the original Mindstorms Robotics Invention System. The wheels are from the 8880 Super Car; they have large bores through which I could pass the hammer axles, so the gearmotors are inboard of the wheels & the axes are outboard. The other parts are common old Technic parts.
@@infernolab I had a Lego mindstorms kit as a kid and this exact video literally inspired me to build small battlebots and have tournaments with them lol. I tried to build that arm in the Mindstorms kit and I completed the build but missed a few steps as I couldn’t get it to move properly also
@@visual_bored thank you so much for writing, & I'm really glad to hear that you had the LEGO Mindstorms kits too. They're surprisingly powerful--I sometimes even use them to prototype mechanisms before making them for real. Please share pictures of your robots--I bet they're awesome.
