Hi Jamie! Have you seen the new Eldorado fortress? It's soo amazing and I think it recreates this very faithfully :)
I really hope you return someday - even if you don't like making videos, a lot of people would be happy to see anything from you - maybe just some posts on instagram or discord? ;)
Anyway, thanks for making whats already here: some of the best videos in all the seven seas.
It's a shame that Lego doesnt use those plates anymore. They make castles look so much more majestic
Agreed! The last set I remember them using a raised baseplate in was the big Pharaoh’s Quest set... that’s off the top of my head, though, so I could be wrong. Either way, it’d be fun to see them make a comeback! 😎👍
@@TrikBrix I think you're right. Also the indiana Jones tempel of the christal skull is build on a raised plate, the Im pretty sure that was before Pharaos Quest.
True
I’m not a huge fan of them as they look to flat and plain
I wish they'd bring back some of their older original themes.
This set reminds of hours of absolute pure playing Joy and lots of f fighting pirates
Still one of the coolest pirate sets LEGO made. I never had this one as a kid, but am currently slowly piecing it together from Bricklink.
I have to agree. I can’t wait for the remake this year.
This man need to come back 🙏🏻 you can watch your videos more then once and never get boring. Please make a review of the new coming Eldorado 🏴☠️
Your appreciation and love for classic Legos is something I share and respect. They might have had less pieces and elements back then, but no limits on inspiration.
For sure... while I enjoy some of the licensed themes today (mostly Star Wars), there’s nothing that compares to the pure imagination they put into sets like this.
It's funny how these old sets that are priced for hundreds of dollars are worth more than the new ones being released today.
Yeah, and I would imagine that trend will continue. The value of these old sets will just continue to rise...
Sure, you’ve got a handful of more modern sets that are worth tons of money (early modulars, for example), but for the most part I can’t see many of today’s non-D2C Lego sets really skyrocketing in value.
This is definately one of my all time favorite sets, also because i have fond memories of the boat ride that's themed after this set in legoland billund
This was my favourite kit as a kid in the 90’s.
This video has just brought back a flood of happy childhood memories.
For me this set is truly a magical and homely set, even just to look at.
Thank you for uploading.
Dude your videos are so well made, and I truly enjoy them. Your critiques are well thought out, your descriptions are meticulous, and you get the (steady) camera shot of every angle of any given set. Kudos! Incidentally I’m curious how you think this one stacks up to 6277, the trading post. Seems like that one is a little more fleshed out in terms of details.
this is in my recommended after just watching videos for the reveal of the rerelease version of this set for this summer
Hi Jamie, i watched a few Lego videos from you yet, i never saw other Lego reviews, neither in german or english language, wich shows such a passion and immersion while discribing a Lego set.😄
I love this set 🎉
The gap between the door and wall makes it easier to open the door.
Really enjoyed this review! Makes me really excited for new rumored version of this set! 😄
If you put tension on that string when the crane is swinged to the side it will somewhat lift a basket. That was the original idea. So, you can fix the other string end anywhere, but only if you tight the string it will work as imagined.
I wanted this set so much when i was a child😄
I’m sure you weren’t the only one! I was only 4 when this came out, so I don’t really remember when it was in stores, but it was on my wishlist for a long time! Thanks for watching! 😎👍
You need to make some more of your videos!! They are some of the best lego videos I have ever seen!! revisit this now that they are releasing a new version!
As a little kid I was eyeballing at this set from the catalog.
I guess the catalog has changed into CZcams, but my love for this set hasnt.
Thanks for the review ❤️
Great review on this classic set from the past!
Love this series. Thanks.
Thank you for your awesome reviews
Your channel deserves more subs I like your honest reviews .
I always used to use the pit as a dungeon.
I think we can all agree this is the best imperial fort and I only have the 2015 version, but a raised baseplate would've been perfect for a Hogwarts set.
@TrikBrix / Jamie, would love to see you do a follow-up / comparison video with the newly released Eldorado set! Any chance of that happening? 🙂
Your video quality is so good, I wish you'd still make videos, I love them
Nice series thank you for that :p
Thanks! A lot of time and effort went into this series, so I’m glad it’s being enjoyed! 😎👍
such a cool set
Really great thst they re-released this set i really loved it ad a kid and bought the 2023 verion.
I wish I could but I can’t just blow 215 bux on legos
Having one of the prisoners escape via the cell window, rather than the door, during a full blown attack on the fort is sadly an idea that I never even thought of....
I usually would use the Dark Shark to attack the fort, in order to raid it. There were times that pirates would be captured, but it was rare that they would ever escape, in fact I always used to have them simply spend the rest of their lives locked up, if I wanted to use the mini figures again I normally just pressed the reset button and didn't bother to try to make up a story to explain how they got out.
I would also add that I normally tended to portray the Blue Coats as villains and the Pirates as anti heroes, thus the Pirates would often have to save kidnapped Islanders, of whom the Blue Coats would always enslave, just like they would have done in real life.
Personally I never really played up the whole Lego element in any of my sets, I tended to just build the set, and just use it for whatever it was, thus this set was always used as the Blue Coats HQ and that was that.
I did used to give some of my sets and mini figures very minor mods, in the case of Governor Broadside, I ended up giving him a red cape from the spare parts to a Castle set, in to make him look a little more villainous and important.
Sorry if I am laying it on a little thick with the comments here but this was one of my favourite sets for many years and it provided many a happy memory for me.
When I say in real life I mean the Blue Coats enslaving the native tribes, not the concept of the Pirates saving them. Although they may have done so for a fee, my head Canon always had it that the Pirates and Islanders were allies.
I got this set for xmas, it was the best.
I am just so impressed about the impecable and elegant look of these videos. Great work!!!
Thank you so much! Glad you’re enjoying them! 😎👍
How in the world do you have only 263 subscribers with such awesome reviews from arguably the best sets Lego ever produced?? Will you do Lego Indiana Jones in the future too? Anyway, subbed!!
Thank you! I think there are just so many Lego CZcamsrs out there, it takes some time to get discovered. And yes - I would LOVE to do a few Indiana Jones reviews; maybe even a full retrospective!
Thanks for watching! 😎👍
That would be so cool! I just got back into Lego after almost 10 years of absence. Now almost 21, it's time to release the inner child again, although I don't know if I ever did grow up at all. Aiming now to get my (old) Indiana Jones sets complete again and after that I will be heading for the Adventurers theme. Although I was too young to play with it at the time it was released, I found out later it existed and always loved it.
That’s awesome! I’m still hoping that Lego revisits both Indy AND the Adventurers some day... fingers crossed!
Woaaa. This was my first ever LEGO set, so special memories are with it. Great to see it again on your channel! BTW, the bricks are looking quite new, which is unusual for a 30 year old set. You must be a lucky guy. ;)
Thanks! And this would’ve been an AWESOME first set!! 😎👍
Love this set! Very Ottoman feel to it.
Re-watch ☺️
Right on! 😎👍
they should remake those in cheap price,i bet they will make more money on this than today lego.
its my childhood
I think there is a yellow one by two brick missing at the end of the staires under the crane
Yep, looks like you’re right... I missed that one!
I don't know why the name isn't on the top. but its not because it's the international version I'm Norwegian and we still have the same English text on our sets.
This is a wonderful set! One of my friends had this one and I just loved playing with it! There’s so many things to like and the molded baseplate is definitely one of them! Other than that I like that this LEGO set is finished in the sense that it isn’t an open back / half build (except for the tower) In the Danish legoland there’s a life-size (but smaller) version of this! I basically agree with everything you said - it’s a cooool set! Thanks for sharing this and keep up the good work :-) I’m really looking forward to the next part :-) (And especially to those adventures sets :-D)!
Thanks! I’ll have to look up some pics of that Legoland version - sounds cool! And I agree about it having four walls; it wouldn’t be the same any other way. Thanks again for watching, and those Adventurers videos are coming soon, I promise! 😎👍
TrikBrix Cool - I’m really looking forward to those :-)
I believe there was a shark in the international version.
when i was a kid i really really like this set
but i got pirate island instead 😭
Are the so-called "Bluecoats" to be French and the "Redcoats" that came afterwards British?
I love this theme!
One of the all-time greatest! Thanks for watching! 😎👍
My dad owned that
Awesome I like your Set!
Thanks Erik! 😎👍
You're Welcome!
11:41 😍😍😍
😄👍 They’re coming soon!
@@TrikBrix Awesome!! From the Jungle theme I am now only missing 5986. It is so expensive and hard to find! D:
It can be ridiculously expensive... I was able to get mine for $100 on eBay, which didn’t seem too terrible.
@@TrikBrix Yeah that's a good price. I have been scouting ebay for weeks now, but buying one for 100$ means 30$ shipping from US plus import tax. That comes down to 160$ total for US -> Netherlands import. I rarely see anything other than listings from US which is a pain!
Ouch... yeah, that sucks. I guess my recommendation would be to save an eBay search with your desired location parameters and then you’ll be notified when one pops up in your area. Might take a bit longer, but you also might find a decent deal that way.
You're slacking a bit, Jamie. I see you have three pieces of 10 in that chest! Kidding aside, thanks for such an extensive video on this set, it's nice to take a look at this classic with the high production quality of your work/
😂 Lol! I guess I need to up my game! But I’m glad you could overlook that and enjoy the review anyway, haha! Thanks! 😄👍
Pls make new vids jamie
I feel as if they wanted to name it Legorado Fortress.
😄 I’m surprised they didn’t! Although these old pirate sets seemed to be a little less tongue-in-cheek than the newer ones.
But we DID end up getting Fort Legoredo in ‘96! 😎👍
Already a set!
This deserve more views. I enjoy very much listen your descriptions in all your videos, you have charisma and your videos are far more enjoyable than other bigger lego channels like Jangbricks, or Bricktsar. Have my subscription.
Thanks so much, I’m glad you’re enjoying them! And thanks for subscribing! 😎👍
Thanks for making these videos - great bit of nostalgia. I too wanted this so badly as a kid but one of the sets which got away. Treated myself and bought and built one (then sold on) a while back as just wanted to see/feel what I missed as a kid. Truly great set.
Indeed it is! Truly one of the classics. I’m glad you got a chance to experience it! Thanks for watching! 😎👍
Raised base plates were awesome
Agreed! They’re one of the first things that come to mind when thinking about sets from my childhood. Thanks for watching! 😎👍
I love your videos! It's great to see the sets that we used to watch on tiny promotional booklets back in the 90's explained and explored on detail, it's almost like having them!
Thanks so much for watching! I’m glad to have the opportunity to share them with everyone! 😊👍
Excellent review. Keep up the good work.
The Lego Creator set 31084 from 2018 has a tribute to this classic fort. I just wish Lego did more than tributes. The latest Pirates line from 2015 felt too stripped down. Especially in the 'buildings' department. Thank you for the in depth look. This was another wonderful series! Great idea to mix things up in the future. You have me excited, sir!
Yes! As soon as I saw that coaster it instantly brought back memories of the Bluecoat sets. And I agree about the 2015 wave... it was cool, but just didn’t live up to its predecessors, and everything seemed too small to me. I hope someday they give Pirates the modern treatment that it deserves. Thanks again for watching, Glenn! Lots of cool stuff in the pipeline! 😎👍
Yeah I only picked up one set from the 2015 Pirates. Just wasn't the same as these ones.
My favorite! Still got this one from childhood but I lost the box. Some bricks are yellowed so that’s why I asked you about hydrogen. Need to give them good wash in summer. Very very good video again!
Can you do the same series about Caste ‘84, as you did with Pirates ‘89? I really enjoy your videos. Keep it strong!
Thank you! And a good hydrogen peroxide soak will surprise you. Usually makes a big difference!
I definitely want to do Castle at some point... not sure when, but it’s on my to do list! 😎👍
Lego should use the same box design that they used to. The old boxes are worth buying to me even without the pieces. Maybe it's nostalgia.
There was definitely something special about the old boxes & product photography... it would be cool to see them release some retro packaging at some point (besides the 60th Anniversary sets last year).
I believe the US release has "pirates" under the "Legoland" logo.
Interesting... I also think it actually said ‘Eldorado Fortress’ on the side of the box. I bought this from a US seller, but it must’ve made the trek across the pond at some point.
Thanks! And thanks again for watching! 😎👍
Great set! I am looking forward to the upcoming videos!
Thanks! There’s lots of cool stuff coming in the near future! 😊👍
Yessssssss this is the best
Agreed! 😎👍
Great first part of the series, can’t wait for more, good idea to spice up the video selection in the future so exited for more adventurers and pirates!
Thanks, Steven! Yep, lots more cool stuff to come! I’m actually working on all of the music and graphics for Adventurers Jungle right now, so hopefully it won’t be too much longer! Thanks again for watching, man! 😎👍
Does anyone know why Bricklink lists a green baseplate as an 'alternative' in the parts list for this set?
Also: Awesome vid man! And I can't wait for the adventurers series 😍 still my favourite theme.
Thanks! And Adventurers Jungle shouldn’t be too far away! I’m working on music, graphics, and scripts as we speak, and it’s going to be a fun season!
@@TrikBrix How do you create the music for the series? Do you play instruments?
Yes and no, lol... I play all of the instruments in Music Studio, a midi keyboard/recording app.
@@TrikBrix interesting Gotta be a hell of a lot of work I could Imagine :D
Haha, yes it is! But worth it - I can get the exact sound and feel I want, and I shouldn’t ever have to deal with copyright claims! 😄
Fantastic as usual
Thanks, Tanner! Glad you enjoyed it! 😎👍
Grate set to end 1989 sets. O and i cant wate for adventure 1999 retrospactiw ^-^.
Glad you enjoyed it! Adventurers Season 2 is definitely coming soon! 😎👍
You should do a video showing off your collection. Would be very interesting seeing every Lego pirates set on display.
I may do that at some point! Thanks for watching! 😎👍
@@TrikBrix Yes please do. Even if it's a quick one.
I am sad for pirates
I am so excited for the lego adventurers jungle sets retrospective
It’s gonna be a fun adventure! 😎👍
Hey trix brix! I love the 30th anniversary pirates retrospective series! Check out my channel the lego office. I'm starting my own Lego pirates series
