This is so suprising, and when they said are you completely sober and she just looked up, when she said she doesn’t know why she’s sober and, then when she said she can’t see anything. Justin bieber and all the other stars that started off super young probably understand this documentary on a way deeper level than we do.
Of course they do because the title is literal. They were victims of abuse, rape and did what they had to in order to survive that world. Then, to become who they are, they literally danced with the devil and did the same things that were done to them, even eating children.

As I work through my own journey of sobriety, I find myself relating more and more to Demi and I feel for her when people criticize her for relapsing. There's just so much that goes on underneath our skin as addicts that are impossible to explain to people who have never struggled with any sort of addiction.
She may not ever know I exist, but I'm proud of her and how open she's been with all this.

I watched the whole season and it really had me saying ‘wow’. I just can’t believe she managed to pull through all of that. I know she’d roll her eyes, but she is strong. I’m only 23, trying to find and fight my way through some really severe trauma, and I feel like she’s someone to listen to about what NOT to do. I know we all live our own lives, and as she said ‘one size does not fit all.’ But if there was anyone I’d want to take advice from about struggling through alcoholism and trauma, it’s Demi. Thank you for sharing your life and experiences with us Demi. ❤

ones, hiding the facts and the truth. This is what makes helping an addict so hard because you never know where the truth is. You just hope and pray you are loving them enough to get through the hard times.
I have always loved her talent, She has always been my guilty pleasure lol. But I am one of those fans who had to disconnect from her after it happened. I am looking forward to this, and though it may be triggering I will try my best to finish it. I wish her the best. I wish her health. And many many blessings to pour down on her and her family

As a recovering (mainly heroin - fixing) addict, I can 100% agree. It took me 10 years to open up, admit I needed help YET still I am not 100% sober (no heroin anymore, only substitution- methadone) and I tend to unconsciously at this point hiding certain things or emotions.
That doesn’t change the fact I made a huge step forward and am aware and am working on everything. Mental health and actual support is more important than anything.

I love the fact that this doesn’t seem like a documentary like “ok I’m perfect I made an error” like no.. she made a documentary exposing herself, her problems, her being a human being that can feel sad, bad, fall into drugs and almost die without glitters and everything. My mom was on fentanyl my entire childhood....and it really messed her up. It’s hard for me to have empathy for people who abuse it because of my experience knowing it’s the most dangerous opioid. But I’m happy to hear they made it out of their situation

She isn’t strong. She is weak along with the rest of us. It sounds corny and Bible thumping, and you’ll most likely roll your eyes and keep scrolling, but real happiness is found through Jesus Christ. Trying to find true happiness through relationships or success will always fail you. Allowing God to reveal his purpose for your life will truly fulfill you and bring you true joy. Every success in your life you reach for yourself is temporary.
She's certainly not a woman to admire. I wouldn't want my 10 yr old daughter to look up to her. That's for sure. She can't seem to stop using. She'll make a "documentary" about her struggles and success, then go right back to drugs. She's VERY sexually promiscuous. I don't care how "empowering" she may think it is, being so promiscuous is a dangerous lifestyle and will only leave you empty, NOT "empowered"... with that said, we're ALL sinners. We're ALL hypocrites. We're ALL flawed and we ALL need forgiveness. I pray Demi finally finds peace in Jesus Christ before its too late. She's on a very dangerous path. The WIDE path that many are on, that leads to destruction. She needs to go on the NARROW path, that leads to Jesus. She's still surrounded by people that just want to party with her. Those are NOT real friends.

Honestly it's refreshing to see someone being open about this kind of thing. Although we live very different lives I was in hospital with my mental health at the same time as you and began my real struggle with opioids at the same time as you so your story has always kind of resonated with me. I have been trough hell and back many times, I survived many horrible things with zelo chances of survival. I never harmed my body in any way (drugs, opioids or suicide). Let me tell you why. Because before all of the shit, I had to face, I love and respected myself, my body and my soul. I was never going to let all of the failures and the losers around me to drag me down! Remember, THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY OUT! Even when tou don't see it, there is always a way out from almost every problem, and baby, I had them all AND I BEAT THEM ALL! So understand that you are a beautiful person in a ugly world and do not be weak, do not poison yourself, because of the negativity and hatred of others. Srparate yourself from the losers, free yourself from the grip of others, they are actually useless and you will be finally happy. No one holds a torch for the folks who persevere without addiction but we literally glorify those who overcome addiction as if it wasn't a choice in the first place. I wish Demi could see what many of us see ; she does know how to light up a room with her talent. Only my opinion but based of the trailer it just feels like alot of energy addicted to pain and suffering. I'm glad Demi feels liberated and empowered sharing her truth but what i'd rather see is Demi giving herself permission to be happy and in control. ❤️

If people could just decide to be happy, depression wouldn't exist. Mental illness is real, and it's not easy to cope with. There is no "permission to be happy". It's literally a daily, even hourly struggle, for many of us.

I see some comments saying that Demi "always" does a documentary when she relapses and while I agree she has done this, she has always been clear that she still struggles.
Her message was always to ask for help. Seeing a celebrity do this when no one was talking about mental health was awesome, but looking back I can see her team wanted to make her an image for sobriety and maybe that also affected her.
She actually waited 3 years to release this documentary so it seems that she took her time and didn't rush it. The reason we have footage of her last tour is because she was filming a documentary about the tour at that time and then it didn't get released because of everything that happened.

Loving this. Thank you for sharing. You should never see a person as just an addict. It usually always comes down to horrific trauma that is unresolved. Treat the trauma then you can treat the addiction. Substance abuse is a coping mechanism.
