      Yeah I think he meant “genetic” as something else, not actual genetic hereditary strength. What I think he meant was in the terms of passing it down from on generation to the next, as he said it is tradition to wrestle there. This is not only in Dagestan, but it’s found in a lot of places. Like the person above me mentioned, it’s also common in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia etc the list goes on.

    As a Pashtun Afghan, we have the same culture. I use to wrestle my cousins generally, and sometimes received gifts either money or something else if we did very good. If you lose you get a beating from your dad. I have never lost to any of my cousins, as I was good. But to this day I still remember regret winning this one time when my uncle beat his son with a chain he took off his dog’s collar.😂

    Me too even in Kalistan. When I was a little kid, I used to go to my mom's village to see my Uncle and my cousin's they would make me wrestle with the twins because I was one year older than them so they both had to wrestle me at the same time I had to take them both on at the same time, that's just the way it is.
