The father being alive thing is where the movie went left. Also, it was great advertising for Apple.
anyone in a witness protection program would never make an online dating profile! 🤣 also, how did kevin just so happen to run across her on a dating app, like what are the odds?! what would have been the plan B if she had never made the profile.😭
I hollered when Nick said he thought Kevin was the help. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I thought that he was the plumber or maintenance man 🤣
“I thought he was the help”😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣
My question: during the mom’s pov from 2008, we hear all her friends/loved ones comforting her and telling her that June will someday understand her decisions. Did none of them think to contact police when her disappearance was all over the news???
Wow, that is a massive plothole lol. Good catch
What would they have told the police? They didn't know where she was and they may not have known james was abusive. The way I saw while watching was nobody knew because the mom would cover it up. She was watching makeup tutorials to hide her injuries. Maybe when they said "June would understand", they were just talking about the mom moving and changing her name to start a new life without the father who died from cancer. It could have been they only knew the lie she told them. Which is why while we heard that, The mom was reading an article about lying to everybody you know in love when you start a new life.
@@JadaSnacks You could be right. It's been awhile since I've seen it now, did she give her former loved ones a specific reason for changing her identity? Either way, I would think that someone from her past would have contacted authorities and said something like "she changed her identity and moved away after her husband died" and that police would start looking into the ex-husband or try to find information from where she used to live. But I understand that the movie needed to build suspense, and I also could not be remembering something correctly
@sarahevans704 not sure. I watched it at home and we were able to pause the movie alot to read everything shown.
It was implied that she told various ppl lies to cover up the abuse and changing her identity.
I think the largest plot hole from that is choosing to not change the mom's look more in her past life and keeping June's name and identity the same. Unless maybe because she was only about yrs old, they felt it not necessary?
I think the cover up story was the dad died of cancer- instead of having everyone know he went to jail for drug charges. Which would allow her a reason for leaving town and not changing her identity too much.
@sarahevans704 this movie is coming out on Netflix soon!
For someone who is hiding from an abusive ex, I wouldn’t believe that Nia’s daughter be able to be so active online & her doing online dating. That exposes them.
Yeah, she would normally be blocked from all that but I guess she is 18 & graduating now. And young kids are generally so good with all that stuff, she may know how to do it even tho she wasn’t supposed to know
Also, if she was trying to sneak and have this big party, why would would you host it at home? You have a Ring camera. Your mother is going to see ppl coming in at out.
I just went and seen the movie in theaters on Saturday and I loved it. The ending had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I would watch it again ❤
I’m more interested in why a woman would believe nonsense from some “guy” online. It seems to happen quit a bit. Maybe be weary of anybody who tells you stuff you want to hear… perhaps don’t go out of country with a stranger… if he is worth your time he is worth a back ground check.
And, who would go to Colombia with someone you barely know??
@@zethraelofteldrassil3149 yeah…maybe start with Disneyland or Knotts Berry Farm.
No shit dude, wtf?! 😳
yeah she was slow for that imo. especially given his weird persistence… and her desire to protect her child
@@zethraelofteldrassil3149 the dating feed showed it was over 6 months they talked online
I just don’t understand why the dad who was in prison and said he would kill the mom wasn’t SUSPECT #1!? Her name change was private, but not the dads prison record. The writers got so lazy towards the end of the film.
I just left the theater about an hour ago and this video cleared up all questions I had. Thank you!
My audience was all in. I enjoyed the movie a lot. This has been a great January for movies unlike other years
got stoned before I watched this review and girl I could NOT keep up with the plot and now I’m rewatching sober and still…so convoluted!!! Thank god for you guys 🥰❣️
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really love Nia Long.
Thank you for mentioning the hair! Hair and makeup done while under duress always takes me out of the movie!
i have a problem with how the computer never went to sleep too, but then i realize when you watch a video content, the operating system can recognize that and prevent it to sleep
The premature grave digging I think could pass off as the dad being at his literal wits end. He is becoming erratic and desperate and is improvising and making dumb decisions. Just my opinion.
Just like how he sits down to look up hospitals instead of trying to stop the bleed.
There was a guy who set up an elaborate plan to kill his wife in a fire... Except it relied on her standing in the kitchen while the house burned. People are very smart, but very dumb.
@@jacobstaten2366 right.
Hey guys! Clarification here. June's FaceTime camera is always open because we are looking at her through perspective of James. We also see this near the end when he's about to die and trying to find a hospital. He can see all of the cameras that he set up including june's laptop that's still open from when she was Kidnapped. At some point Kevin hooked up a link to June's camera lens so that her father could watch her while he conducted this plan. That's the secure VPN reveal that we get with the secret chat between James Kevin and Heather. What's not clear is why heather was communicated with james and kevin. But it was james that could see everything and that is the perspective that we were watching the movie from.
I prefer Searching to this movie. This movie needed to be WAY more menacing.
Awe, I missed the live chat! I've been waiting on this one. I want to send y'all a king cake...I'll see if it can go to a PO box.
Then - - we realize in retrospect that Nia is in fact still alive at the same time that Kevin character is begging for money to get out of Columbia, so WTF - why not just go to the Columbian authorities and turn yourself in? You haven't killed anyone, you're only guilty at this point of taking a vacation with an actor, know what I mean? I agree with Joseph the first hour clips along, but the reveal is a mess. Why oh why doesn't he just kidnap her by his self instead of having to pay off Bunny, Kevin, the van "kidnappers" etc?
New subscriber.. .after "that hair is laid, I don't mean she had edges or anything". Lol
I agreed w you guys ...I just saw the movie....it was good but confusing at times.
Something 'fishy' like a 'romance scammer' is hot news topics these days! Young person does sleuthing through social media - shows a good brain! Nice to hear you two 'questioning' the plotlines!
I was thinking that her Photo Booth camera is always on because her dad hacked the computer and so he had it up constantly, but she was unaware of it
Did he get his watch back? That's what I want to know
The end section where it was like a year later or whatever had a message from him (Angel) and he was still wondering if he could get his watch back the next time she was in LA 😂
This film has many plot holes and a lot of things make no sense. Kevin's trip to Colombia with actor Rachel and the kidnapping was futile as the police and media immediately found out it was staged when Rachel returned. Kevin is killed on a roof despite surrendering. James knew the whole time where mom and June lived as Kevin was dating Grace. The kidnapping of Grace and June was also pointless. James could've killed Grace and lied to June that Grace was the abuser. He almost succeeded. Grace had no reason not to tell June the truth about James. Due to June hacking into Kevin's accounts and pretending to be Kevin, Heather was murdered. At the end, June watches a series about her case, which makes you believe that nothing was real.
Can you guys edit out the "Hey Siri call 911" bit out? My speaker almost called 911.... This was in the 19 minute block of the video roughly. Proof that technology has gone too far lol.
Thank you for the review. The minute I realized this story is going to be conveyed via screen time, I was very much put off watching it, but I still did want to know what happened.
I have been to Colombia, and people are lovely there. But it feels very odd to think that a Colombian man who was hired to help complete tasks for a stranger would then give free labor. That feels like a replication of the trope of the oh-so-helpful savior-type person from a foreign country, helping a protagonist avoid pitfalls. People in Colombia also work and have to make a living, like anyone else! :)
He never gave free labor… wow you missed that in the movie haha
3:13
@@kylebraby2357 they also missed that its a movie lol
I had fun with this one the same way I had fun with Searching and Profile. The Unfriended movies were just frustrating.
Merch Question - why isn’t there a Joseph shirt that says “And we can get into that” ???
I was looking through your recent posts to see if I've missed any of your new reviews and I haven't missed a spoiler in the past two years. 😵💫
Oh wow…I feel like you deserve a prize!
@@fishjellyfilmreviews I am getting a prize. I found a Fish Jelly shirt that I'm going to order. I just need to measure my size first before I order it 😁👍
Love your reviews as always! I really hope y’all review plane!
It would have made more sense if it was implied that jimmy stashed his drug money in colombia, giving them a not only a reason to go there, but providing a better explanation for how kevin was gonna get the money instead of from grace's account. Sometimes survivors of abuse will work at the centers, but that is not really confirmed even though grace says that she works with heather. Not sure if that's a lie. If she works there as a social worker and not an attorney, then she wouldn't have had that kinda money to steal, meaning it makes less sense to drain her account (or take some money if not all)...i guess so she can be more destitute and defenseless?
Great video!🌞
I love Nia Long so I'll check this out.
My favorite movie this year. A lot of things I didn’t see coming in this movie
I thought the vacation was in June cause it was on Father’s Day. And that’s why she didn’t have fun at the party. Or was that something else
If anyone is interested in a concept like this please consider checking out the movie Searching! It’s such an interesting story and concept done in much better way.
Yeah this is the sequel to that.
searching was awesome i agree !
I stumbled onto Searching a while ago and reluctantly watched it. I was so happy with that movie. I thought it was really good.
That movie left me SO UPSET!!! The twist had me rolling my eyes so hard lol. I really, really enjoyed it and recommend it.
its basically the prequel to this....
I saw this movie and enjoyed it a lot, even though the sequence with Grace and June in the shed was whack. I've read a lot of reviews and it's fascinating to me that no one has discussed the casting - this is a mainstream movie finding its audience, and except for Kevin and Heather, all of the characters are Indian American, Latino, Korean American, and Chinese American, with two Black American women in the lead roles. I love it!
BTW CZcams is full of sad stories about women who sent every penny they had, thousands of dollars, to overseas "boyfriends", based on text messages and stolen photos. They never even met these guys, who are mostly Nigerian scam artists. But these supposedly intelligent women were sure they were going to marry them and ride off into the sunset. So they sold their homes and emptied their retirement funds. Seems unbelievable, but women-and men-get fooled by scamsters every day.
True, people in general are very susceptible to conpeople, and conpeople are very good at what they do.
Yup. I helped a guy once in a case. He send 70.000 euros (approx 76000 dollars then) to a random guy online. He wanted to use that money for a downpayment for a house for jim and his girlfriend but unfortunately gave it all away. The scamming is super elaborate with multiple people being behind it. I know in India and some parts in west africa there are complete office buildings where people work in teams on scams. I would not have fallen for how they met and who that person was supposed to be. This person was supposedly some sergeant in the US army. I would not have fallen for that. I think the guy I helped started a secret online relationship with the 'sergeant'. Howeverrr the moment the scam itself started with importing something, following the track and tracing number and customs asking for some reasonable amount of money for the import made sense. And the story why my client had to help I could kind of get into as well. But then the scam became bigger and more money had to be send to customs and after that they started blackmailing him and making him believe he send money to customs regarding illegal things. While the whole customs website was fake and so was the track and trace and everything. It looked pretty legit. Although its not something i would believe. I'm highly uncomfortable giving people any money online or if people I know ask for money to help them. It's just so awkward to get into money talking with people you know. Eventually the people behind it were caught in the UK and sentenced. But my client never saw any of his money back. Scammers barely ever have money. They often immediately spend it or maybe work for someone higher in charge.
You mean James...... Kevin is the mother's Asian bf
I saw Missing and enjoyed most of it but after watching it felt like trying to find a nearest Subway place in an area going out of your way to get one when you're already putting gas at a gas station with a Subway station built in it.
LMAOOO girl this made me shriek

I really love you guys and appreciate your videos. Would you guys consider reviewing the film, His House (2020)? Thanks for all you do💜💜💜

Great review guys. I was interested about this one.
i haven’t watched “Searching” but i did watch “Profile” in 2021 & it was okay 🤷🏽♂️ might check this out..
Will you be reviewing Shotgun Wedding. Early critic reviews panned it which is a shame. Waiting for JLo to have her resurgence.
Yes, it’ll drop on 1/23.
The final third also took me out of this movie, just WAY too elaborate and over complicated. (Hilarious commentary about the description of the two actors paired romantically with Nia Long’s character!) Great review!
I think the film was filmed in an interesting way and this movie reminds of aa eps. of Catfish.
This movie was sort of interesting in the beginning, and then it just tried to hard and ended being really stupid. The whole Colombia trip makes absolutely no sense. Anyway me favorite part of this review regarding her Mom's obvious password- "I don't even know you, bitch...." Lmaoooooo
I love your reviews!!
Definitely watched this the whole way through for Miss Nia Long. The Actor playing as June i found to look really familiar though....isnt she the same girl that plays in Euporia with Zendaya?
Can someone tell me why the father had the nose bleed in the beginning of the movie
he’s an addict
Coke 😤
You prompted me. Ordered a V-neck😀

I figured it out as soon as heather the lawyer was killed.
Heather was my favorite character, sad she was killed.
I just watched it. I don’t understand how the battery of an Apple Watch lasted so long.
Will you review Pathaan (Hindi) I don’t know anything about it but it’s Indian and it’s like a action crime film I think idk and it was filmed for IMAX
Can you review Plane
But did my nigga ever get his watch back though? Cliff hanging ass movie
I loved this movie!!!!!!!
Searching is definitively the highest quality and best iteration of this kind of story/genre. (I’m also a hoe for John Cho.) As soon as I saw this trailer, I knew it would necessitate too much suspension of disbelief bc there’s no way a girl of her age in this era is doing all that through her laptop and not her phone. I’ll check it out anyway, though. And Nia has definitely been paired with hotter guys in other movies lol
♥️ ♥️
I thought this movie was OK at best. Not sure I agree with the rating it got on RT and IMDB. I appreciate Josephs's hair-spective on these movies reviews ..lol
Saw the preview for this when I went to see M3gan. They really fooled me, now I know I won't be watching. Lol The new M. Night Shamalan (sp.) movie coming out did look pretty suspenseful. Can't wait for you guys to check that 1 out.
I knew I wasn't interested in seeing this. Great synopsis!
Did y’all notice that Kevin is Jun Tao from Rush Hour?!
Once I got a closer look at his face, yes. Lol
And don't forget one of the bad guys from lost

@@fishjellyfilmreviews Any idea of where will you both be next? And honestly, he's doing the smart thing by staying home. It's too fucking cold and also COVID
Are you guys married ! :)?
This movie kind of sucked saw it today. Thanks for the review
You all are really reaching.. "Searching"
😁 This movie was excellent. Suspension of disbelief is needed in every movie. It's so creative and seemless like Searching movie. Telling the entire story "online".
I need you to please stop commenting on black women's hair. You dogged Janelle Monet in glass onion, and I looked and tried to see ...there are no flaws. Just stop 😑 it's a movie, lol..what do you want? Nia Long to come out with no makeup on? Then you would talk about that. I also laughed at them being 42, born in 1980 😁..she's is Def. Ten years older than me when Love Jones came out. Ken Jeung is not bad looking, esp in his 'Lost' days. They made a cute couple. He seemed sweet and interesting and opposite her abusive ex. I agree with you that I also wished that at least one person in the movie would have said out loud that she would never just leave her daughter. The detective was useless.
When I saw this trailer a while back; to me it looked just dumb and way too Lifetime for my taste.
What do you think about the studio casting a biracial child and family just they could cast the white male in a negative light? Why is it when an interracial family is the cast of the film and the father is black and the wife is white that the black father is portrayed as the hero?
I just saw Scream VI yesterday and the entire cast is "diverse" but guess what color the killers were? White. I see a pattern.
