end of video shows EVAP purge valve replacement. the brake switch wasn't shown but solution to code was it needed recalibration, zeroed back out via scan tool. someone replaced it before it seems. or, it lost it's positioning die to age. not sure but recalibrating adjusted the numbers😎

I totally enjoyed and appreciated this video presentation. It was very clear, the camera work was very good, which made it very easy to see what was being done. You continually explained what you were doing while you were doing it 👍, your speech was also very clear, and you didn't over talk or say too much. Great job, totally appreciate your skills.

Pro tip, but a cloth on the pipe underneath the regulator so you don’t get fuel all over it. Also, change gloves before touching the new one. Keep things as clean as possible.

At least you have codes. My nieces' husband thought it was the battery since it died on the road while driving. So after putting the wrong battery in it, it came out of a truck, didn't work. In more ways than one. I charged and tested the old battery which is fine. Of course all the codes where cleared, if it had any. Put my reader on it and looked at voltage, fuel rail pressure and fuel gauge pressure. Both pressures would fluctuate between 56 and 70 psi. So I found the issue pretty quick. Just waiting on the part.

  • @eskimo2k
    @eskimo2k Před rokem +2

I have to give you a lot of credit for getting that bottom bolt out without removing that coolant pipe. I removed mine last night (waiting on the part to put it back together) and after about 15 minutes of messing with it I gave up and removed the pipe to give me a little more room to work. Even then it was a pain. Too bad because the rest of this job is so easy.
For others that are wondering if this was your issue, here were my symptoms and diagnostic. 2013 Buick Enclave, drove fine on the way home, went to leave an hour later and it was sputtering bad, flashing check engine and stabilitrak message. Threw code P228C and P00C6. P228C = Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Exceeded Control Limits - Pressure Too Low, P00C6 = Engine Fuel Rail Pressure Low. Hook up my WiFi OBD adapter and fired up the OBD Fusion app on my iphone and setup logs on Fuel Pressure Rail and Fuel Pressure Rail Gauge. One of those is the pressure before the high pressure pump and one of them is the pressure after (sorry, I forgot which was which now). On my car they were both basically the same pressure, around 60 PSI meaning it was only getting pressure from the low pressure pump in the tank. My buddy happens to have a 2015 Acadia, which is the same car as the Enclave, so to make sure I was logging the right PIDs I ran the same logs on his car and one was 60 PSI while the other was going between 600 and 800 PSI. So the problem is either the pump failed or the pressure sensor on the pump failed. The pressure sensor for the high pressure pump is built into the pump and isn't serviceable so that was pretty much the end of diagnostics.

I wish we could see footage of your diagnostics process, and how you come to the conclusion that it needs a pump, ect.. My 3 favorite channels are "Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics" -- "South Main Auto" -- "Watch Wes Work".... These guys show all the diag and troubleshooting breakdowns and it makes really good videos. If you ever wanted to add more videos to your channel, this is a good way to do it. I've learned so much just by watching these guys too. If you've never heard of their channels, I'd check it out, just for the knowledge expansion alone.

Dang it, I just bought a 2011 Arcadia that starts fine but won't go over 15 mph. Lady I bought it from told me the shop told her it was the fuel pump. I'm guessing the High pressure pump since it idles fine. There's a seperate computer just for the fuel pump in these, It's around $100 on Rockauto from my earlier investigation. I think it's called a fuel pump control module. Mine isn't throwing any codes at all. Did you maybe forget to plug yours in? If not maybe you need the control module too.

I have a 2009 Chevy Traverse. It shut off on me while at the red light. No check engine light, got it scanned. Codes said Ignition coils. Ended up changing the throttle body, got a tuneup. Could it be the fuel pump that's causing the issue?

Hey there, I'll need more details...
After the replacement, have you cleared the codes and seen any immediate comebacks?
Also... is it rotating and trying to start? Is it not?
If it's cracking and not starting, try spraying supplemental fuel into the throttle body, if it starts, you have a fuel related issue. If not, check other things

Could also have been water in gas... rare but can affect combustion due to fuel quality. Pulling plugs will reveal this plausibly also.
MultipleSingular Misfires codes are generated from most likely tune up negligence.
(MAKE NOTE) the above is primarily stating to check plug condition to determine environmental circumstances.

Sorry I didn't document diagnoses, people typically just want answers. Diagnosing, people don't have the attention span for it mostly.
But to answer your question, In the scan tool, you go into pcm and In the live data, you'll see "high pressure fuel pump DESIRE".... and you'll match it with the "high pressure fuel pump actual" PID (parameter identification) if they aren't matching, you then go into a testing function and further isolate issue.
Example, if pcm desire 600psi the actual value should be at 600psi -+3psi
If the fuel pump value can't stabilize, replace fuel pump.
There's more involve but this is the gist
