    In this video, producer, engineer, and recording studio owner Matt McQueen takes you through his microphone placement and equipment set up to record a band live in the same room. Live recording can be challenging, but it can also yield a product that sounds and feels unique to the band.
    This video is 1 of 24 videos from Capsule To Cone's first full-length course, "Live From the Floor, Recording and Mixing a Rock Band". The Course is 4.5 hours in length and takes you through the entire setup, including placement of the band in the room, placement of all the mics, patching to all the outboard gear, session routing for the control room, and headphone mixes for the band (IN PRO TOOLS). The course also includes videos for all of the overdubs that were layered over the live recording, including, vocals, gang vocals, B3 organ, and additional guitars. Once the recording is made, the course shows you had to get it all edited and feeling good, without destroying the band's live feel in the room. Finally, there are 6 mixing videos that take you from the drums all the way to the mix bus so that you know how to take the song from recording to finished mix, ready to be mastered.

    I record bands in a room at a youth pop rock project. It took me a while to develop it but it's working very well now!

    I have a 264 sq ft home studio. Do you think this technique would work in space that size?

    Hi. How to deal with snare buzzing that is triggerd by amps? It can really get extremely loud at some tones/chords.

    I own a mixer and I want to record a band, but I don’t know how to put the mixers chinch output into my Pc. Maybe I need an adapter or something like that? Maybe I have to buy an audio interface? I don’t know. Can anybody help me?

    • @chinmeysway
      @chinmeysway Před 2 lety

      If your mixer has usb you can do it that way I think but yeah otherwise or most often you’d need an Audio interface with at least two inputs, use line in, from mixer. Or get an interface with say 8 mic inputs; skip mixer, if 8 is enough channels/ tracks.

      We’ve temporarily taken it down. The course has gotten picked up by Produce Like a Pro/pro mix academy, and it’s going to be re-released in a couple weeks on their platform.
