My band director uses a zoom H4 that he has attached to his podium pointed at us. It works and honestly doesn’t sound horrible.

Shocked to see the Zoom H4 so low on your rating. To me, as an audiophile and with my experience with sound recording, the Zoom H4 had the best sound in your demo. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I'd much rather have a direct and even sound across the frequency spectrum and add my own reverb later if desired, than have a mic that picks up a lot of ambient sound in the room which can't be manipulated or removed (like the Blue Yeti). I have that PreSonus USB interface with a pair of condenser mics mounted up in the front of my band room. I can easily plug in my laptop and record whenever I want through GarageBand or Logic, and then immediately trim my recordings to share with the class. Easier than recording through a device onto an SD card where I have to then transfer the files later.

That's great info - I'm sure many viewers will appreciate the details you are offering. The Zoom definitely captures a pure sound without reverb, but it sounds more heavy on the high frequencies to me. However, I tried to make the video so that each viewer can listen and choose their favorites. Thanks again for your comments!

Thanks for the great video and evaluations. Do you think these options/recommendations would be good for school choirs and some smaller vocal ensembles?

Yes - they would work great for choirs. For smaller ensembles they would also work, but you may prefer to have each singer on their own mic so you can adjust the balance in the mixing phase.

I feel Blue Yeti was a clear winner, I am disappointed by the Zoom H4

Yes - I thought the ZOOM was supposed to be an AMAZING portable recorder, but I was not happy with the sound quality on that. One more point for the Blue Yeti!
