The house speakers are JBL but not Vertecs actually. Those are the VLA cabinets. Kind of a hybrid with horn loaded mids and highs.

Thanks for the clarification! I know the system was replaced two years ago. I swear Chris told me they were Vertecs. Maybe that was the old system. Please comment if you know. Thanks!

getting ready to setup a system for our high school band. do you ever have any feedback issues with the mics that close to cabinet? i’m learning as i go, so any advice would be awesome thanks

HI Eric, yes, acoustic feedback from mics in proximity to the speaker is always a problem. In this case, I am using a "mix-minus" approach. Each speaker stack is a zone, and using bus routing, the mics closest to a zone are subtracted from the mix that is sent to that zone.

@@gigbutt so if i understand correctly , you send each mic feed to a different zone so that the mic tone doesn’t create a feedback loop?

@@gigbutt also, you have the mics setup in a crossed over shape. what advantage does this help with? is it a phasing issue?

@@eross21 That's correct. It takes quite a bit of time to bring all mics up to max gain while feeding all the zones and creating a workable mix that sounds good from all zones and seats. You'll also need to create a mono sum of everything that you can use for the upper levels and TVs.

@@eross21 I think you're referring to XY mic technique. Review XY technique for stereo field imaging for more information.
