The group also reacts to comments made by Sergio Ramos about Lopetegui's man management, and whether they were valid due to Lopetegui's success with the Spain national football team ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Madrid ownership only have themselves to blame. How can you bring in a coach and not let him buy a single outfield player? You loan out players that could help you such as James and Kovacic without a replacement. You sell arguably the best player in football history and you replace him with who? Mariano, a player you loaned out to Lyon who has done very little to justify even wearing the no. 7 jersey. Worst of all, your players simply turned on Ronaldo and kept saying how much better off they are without him, while they forgot to play like a proper team

Lotepegui's mistake was to go with possessional football with players who only know how to play direct football. But he's biggest mistake was ditching Spain for Real Madrid. As an individual, Lopetegui hasn't accomplished much to handle 3 times back to back champions league winners. On the top of it, Ronaldo left. He was everything at Madrid. He took all the spotlight, pressure, criticism, hatred, every possible kind of attention. It was all on him in past 9 years. Other players were unhappy about their game time. Where are they now? Real Madrid's style is star power. But these current players can't play individually and now it's proven that their ego is getting in their way to play as a team. Real tried to bet on Bale but they forget he is the injury wizard of Wales. And benzema , he had power to destroy any team but now lost that potential. Isco as a forward? Lol just lol. Ramos? No doubt about his captaincy but he's ego is just too much. Better without Ronaldo huh? Yeah better at losing without him.

Conte is too smart to go to Madrid. Real represent the opposite of what conte represents which everyone fighting together as a unit and following the mangers vision for the team. In Madrid, they have success with individual stars and it’s always been about the star power with real. I’m not saying real doesn’t play like a team because you have to in order to win three ucl but what I’m saying is that there isn’t a system in place like juventus or Barcelona. Look at real without Ronaldo, if there was a system in place they could handle his departure better. Also, with Real Madrid even if you win the league you still can’t get fired so conte is right to go to a club that will appreciate and value him because he is the type of manager that gives everything he has to the team just like he did even he was a player. Conte doesn’t need the money either so he can wait for another club that has lower expectations. Hopefully he goes to Milan and brings them back to the champions league where they belong.

The team has now lost their offensive threat and other teams are not afraid to attack Madrid. The only reason Real was good defensively was because they were good offensively. Many teams had to stay back and defend. So to say Ramos is a good player is a joke. You put Ramos in another team or keep him at this current club without a Ronaldo and see how many goals they concede. A player like Ramos needs a player like Ronaldo to make him look good.

Ronaldo carried them on their back. Without Ronaldo real is not going to win anything. That's not Ironic, its a simple fact. It's like what Alex Furguson stated. Ronaldo could play for any team and be a winner. How is Real Madrid doing without Ronaldo this season? I don't care about the old generation they were different players. Liverpool also had a golden generation. That doesn't mean they should be the best now. I can guarantee that Real will not win anything this season. Why? Ronaldo is not there.

outlawfly Dude. Everything you said I already know. The fact is Real Madrid needed Ronaldo. It’s as simple as that. I can take you through all the stats and how Manchester United won with Ronaldo too and how many times he won the premier league with Manchester United and how Alex Ferguson stated he could play for any club and be a winner. That’s from a legend! Not from you. But I am not going to do that. Because it’s pointless talking about the past. The past teams have long gone. Players make the team. So, what I will do is very simple. We will see if Real Madrid will win anything this season. They have won the champions league 3 times in a row. We will see if they can do it again. And your argument for Real Madrid winning the league multiple times with Ramos doesn’t make sense at all. It’s a 2 team league. Recently it has been a 3 team league. It’s not amazing to know that Real won the league during that time. Because there were only two teams competing for it during that time. The real answer will come at the end of the season when Real Madrid will win nothing. Until then. You can give me as many stats as you like. History is not now. They will win nothing. And that is a fact. Real are now nothing without Ronaldo.

Player management is very important like Ramos said but Madrid didn’t do very well last season in La Liga, the champions was won with lots of Ronaldo goals and last minute saves (Juventus), and so far this season the defense has been mediocre at best, midfield below par, and no attacking prowess whatsoever. So the players can blame the coach all they want but the truth is that the players do the talking on the field and they haven’t done much talking at all this entire year (except for the champions trophy, which Ronaldo was a part of). Reality needs to hit Ramos very quickly

They were really struggling to keep hold of this game. Busquets, Rakitic & Arthur Melo bossed the midfield. They controlled the game tempo. Madrid forward lack penetration/no link up play. This team look disoriented hardly trouble Barcelona defence. Benzema at least tried few times but my oh my Gareth bale was absolute disgrace. Hardly had any impact on this game whatsoever. was so poor Madrid needed to sub him off the field. As a star player in this team he needs to step up the game and get more involved. No diagonal run to create overload, no dropping deep to help team in build up play & disrupt Barca defence when your team really struggling to get hold of the ball. Jordi Alba ran all over him absolute disaster class perform for him. Against Barcelona you need to have good team pressing and not allow them time & space. They failed to do so and was punished severely.

The problem isn't just CR7 but Zidane. I remember Real struggled before Zidane came in and fired Mourihno and then Benitez and have a history of not keeping managers for too long! So CR7's departure for sure didn't help and only made things worse but Zidane's departure was far more damaging for the club! Zidane was the best they've ever had...simple as that! If he was here today, I'm pretty sure Real would probably be the same as they were last year if not even better. Remember when CR7 won the balandor for the first time after helping UTD win the 2008 champions league and lost the following year to Messi. CR7 was the most important player for UTD. He left and UTD were pretty much the same a year later. They won the premier league in 2011 and were back in the Champions league final the same year which they lost to Barca again! Well, Man UTD had Alex Ferguson arguably the best football manager in history! So if you have a good manager, no player is irreplaceable not even Messi coz Barca just beat Real 5-1 while he was out injured and they did the same in the fall of 2015 by beating Real 0-4. When Neymar left, all Barca fans were devastated but they actually did better without him. If Messi now leaves, I'm pretty sure Barca will be fine as long as the manager understands to adjust the squad and adapt to the change and keep their good football going and ofcoz get a decent replacement. Ok, I've said too much!

Lopetegui is another manager of the old school to hit the dust. Mourinho, Lopetegui - they're all showing their outdatedness. There are two schools of managers - the new kind and the old kind. The old kind are the ones who managed Spain, Germany, Argentina and Italy to oblivion. The new breed are Pep, Emery, Sarri and Klopp.
Low is struggling to change his managing and stay in his job. There are signs he is awakening. But his old Germany games are exactly the type of managing that gets you nowhere these days.
I'm not sure Conte is the right manager either. He flopped in his second year at Chelsea. I think he's got one foot in the old school.
These are managers who cannot show imagination when attacking. Their defending isn't so good either.
Plus Courtois is not good as a goalkeeper as everyone thought. I can see why in the Premier League he was not in the top 2 of goalkeepers. He looked good because Chelsea's players sat back a lot of the times. He comes out too forward too early. Same as what Lloris is doing. They do this because they're nervous. They must stay back at the net no matter how threatened they feel. Lloris is too proactive - he's trying to be sweeper-keeper. And Poch has him doing these long balls for goal kicks. These long balls are old-fashioned and statistically proven to result in a high rate of dispossession for the club compared to shorter passes from the goal.
There were signs of improvement in their last game, the one with Barca, but it was a case of too little too late.
I think it's right he be sacked. There is no excuse for losing against smaller clubs lower in the table.
And Benzema should have been replaced instead of the goalkeeper. He is a liability. He cannot get sitters in. He's not a playmaker either. Either you assist, set up plays or shoot goals (or do all three). If you do neither, then you should get out.
He's been underperforming for too long. He coasted by because CR7 was there next to him shooting most of the goals.
He should have stepped up once CR7 was gone. Why should they buy another galactico just to support Benzema and carry the team for him and other non-performers in the club?
Bale showed signs he was not up to snuff in the preseason games. He's probably getting older and losing his touch. Also, he cannot fill CR7's shoes.
CR7 wasn't just a crackshot, he knew how to create plays and get the attack going and do team play.
People just look at his goals and ignore all the other stuff he did. Compare him to Harry Kane. Kane is all but invisible except at the last second when he runs forward to tap it in. (Kane is trying to improve his forward playing but he's not quite there yet.)
CR7 offers much much more. He truly is a wonderful forward wing as well as a great marksman.
Number 9s these days are required to do more than be there to shoot the goal in. Firmino works hard as a defender, not just a shooter/false nine.
He tackles and presses hard as any other player in the team. When have you seen Kane and Benzema do that?
The bad crossing was another factor. I can't tell you how many teams fail in their attack because of the nature of their crosses.
In Real's case, the cross is too LOW. Such a little detail like this can have a big impact on the game.
I saw them do it consistently. One failed cross after another - too low, so easily intercepted by the opposition.
These are the things the coach can change. It's not beyond the ability of the players to give their crosses a bit more lift. He's not asking them to do 30-yard goal shoots while doing a somersault.
I am sure these poor crosses are because Lopetegui hasn't told them to do otherwise. These mistakes he should pick up every game. I don't understand how coaches can go into the next match not seeing these errors and repeating them.
They must examine every failed attack with a microscope. It's their JOB. They are paid 10s of millions to do that.
You play with these errors consistently and you will get consistent losses.
These errors are systemic. They are not the result of a player's individual mistake. And the manager is the one who should be recognizing them and stamping them out.

Sacking Lopetegui was Spain's loss, as the Spanish national side was playing quite good football under him and were in with a chance of going really far in the tournament. Getting rid of him caused a lot of disruption. Going to Real without enough prior preparation and without time to supervise additions to the squad was Real's undoing. So, Lopetegui ended up falling between two stools and sitting on neither.
