My husband Gus has raised my daughter Alexa since she was 2 1/2. After she lost her own father to gun violence in the streets of Philadelphia just a week shy of her first birthday. After 10 years of being her Dad in every way she finally asks him to make it official in this Fathers Day surprise video. Something he’s always wanted to do but wanted to wait until it was her decision. He had no idea and was totally shocked!
We have a son together, Noah, and we used him in the surprise. I told him the kids picked out their gifts for him on their own this year and each gift was personal. From kid to Dad.
We made him a picture book of just him and Alexa. Starting with the very first picture they ever took. And on the last page there’s a pic of just her holding a sign saying “Hey Dad! 10 years seems long enough don’t ya think?! Wanna adopt me?”

Got that right I was married 7yrs raised her 10month old daughter and 2yr old son been divorced 5yrs now and I see them every week I drive an 18wheeler and they take turns coming with me on the road

@@ChiefJayBinns I get no help from anyone, I do everything on my own. Dont need the "state" to get involved. His mother left to be out in the streets doing drugs and who knows what else. Its him and I living our lives and me keeping him as happy and care free as he and all kids deserve. He's MY BOY that's all there is to it

Do you know what I love about this video? His daughter probably spent a lot of time putting that book together and he studied EVERY page. He didnt just breeze through it, he took the time to look at each pic and reminisce about every event when each picture was taken. In the meantime, those of us who know what the video is about were like "hurry up, get to the end to where she asks you to adopt her" lol

We adopted my son when he was 6 months old, he is 3 now and still doesn't know that we arent his biological parents, even though he is black and we are white. I worry sometimes about him as a teen pulling the "you arent my real dad" card lol. But every night, when he goes to bed, he says "I love you dad." So I'm not too worried, he is my son whether he likes it or not lol
As someone who was adopted as a baby, I don't think I'd ever say to my mom that she wasn't my real momz because she is. I don't know any adopted kids who were adopted into loving households who would ever pull that card Because to us is simply isn't true, no matter what disagreements we may have
Started being in my step son's (Andrew) life when he was 2 years old and had to be dad right out of High School because he had a deadbeat father, 17 years later, I have no regrets.
Now Andrews in the Marines, and I can't be more proud of MY son!!

As an adopted child myself who has suffered with high functioning autism my whole life, when I get frustrated, I pull that card sometimes and my parents know that’s it’s not true. And if he ever says it, he’s lying. You and your wife are there for him when no one else was, and he will love you for that.

That's amazing. That's exactly what my daddy did; my baby sister is his only biological child, but he's been in me and my brother's life since I was about 2 and my brother was 4. My sister came when I was 7, so he always says I'm his first girl. He and my mom divorced when I was around 9, and I'm 39 now, and he's still a huge part of my life.

From growing up with a dad that declined me as a baby because he wasn't ready and from having the worse relationship with my step dad, this gives me joy for those young girls knowing that they have a good male figure in their life. My dad never really cared about his family... I know that he “loves” us, but he never cared for us... every time I see these kinds of videos, I cry because it’s so touching to see that there are men out there who actually love their family and have obviously sacrificed much of their time and patience in building up the trust and love. I can relate my dad left with his gf for about 6 years or so and still wants control over my mother, his mother, his gf and tries to do the same with us. He also never cares about our emotions literally if we're depressed or going through a negative emotion he won't care.....ugh i couldn't handle his shit back then when he was abusive and have ptsd from it.....i can't handle talking about him sometimes tbh but, we all gotta stay strong and grow better than our parents.

This reminds me of my dad, he stepped in to my mom's life when she had three young children, two girls and a boy. Later my mom got pregnant with me and unfortunately while pregnant with me she was diagnosed with scleroderma, that disease would take her life 10 years later. My dad continued to raise two of my older siblings and even after he got remarried to a woman who you guessed it had two young children of there own and also raised those children up too. My step mom and my dad then had my little brother to tie this new family together. All and all my dad has raised 5 children not his by birth but, his by being a real man and doing what's right. He raised 7 all together when you include me and my brother his by birth.
I believe all but one view his as there father or at least have a deep deep respect for the man. All but one visit when they can.
I also love my "technical" step mom, although in my heart she's my mom. She raised a very broken little boy and was there for everything that brought.
Why is that one sibling like that

Most of the time, we praise these dads for coming into ready made families, and stepping up to be fathers. But the good work of the mum is on display too, when we see that the kids have welcomed him into the family, and supported the new relationship developing. so for the dad, to see these kids want to carry his surname, must be so overwhelming. I speak from experience as I have two stepdaughters myself and have raised them since they were young. I've been with them for 22 years and they are both adults now, but I would love to adopt them in a heartbeat if they ask me.

My daughter was one when my husband stopped up to the plate. We took things slow, didn't move in together for months, maintained two households. He's been the best father role model for 8 years now. I hope one day she is capable of doing this question.
