Transmission has always slipped a little and the suspension is in need of service but, other than that, still going strong. @@nicholass281 Kia/Hyundai has had its fair share of problems... Mind you so has toyota especially as of recent. That being said, my forte has been exceptional, with the clear white and tinted rear windows.. TL;DR if you're curious about recalls at botttom.
The GDI 2.0L version of my engine was one of the biggest engine recalls in history and some of the fortes with e MPI 2.0 and 2.4L engines have issues too. Good news for me, since if mine ever goes out theres a extended engine warranty waiting for me to replace it for free, and I've got a 200k km one thats perfectly healthy at the moment! Also the "oil cap recall" for the 1.6t, since they originally said 0w20 but they really need 0w40 or else you'll blow the engine/turbo early. Similar to German turbocharged smaller engines since the early 2000s, they need heavier oil because those little turbskies get hot. They did it so they could report a couple more MPGs on the specs of the car... Very Shady. In my case however, I drive my car hard, all i've ever replaced are fluids, brakes, tires, lights.. and now a upgraded radio and new light switch/turn signal stock.... that's nothing for a 10 year old car! In my opinion this car is a hidden gem.

We did talk about what Houston is turning into and I was sad to hear he is moving, but happy for him. You may see a for sale sign in his videos showing the front yard. He is a hoot, the same man in his videos. I live in Tomball Texas so I intend to move farther from Houston as well.

Your demonstration is why I'm prepared to pay for a good mechanic. Sure a lot of checks and jobs can be done by most people. However not everyone (non mechanic running off memory/ general DIYer etc) will do all the checks or do the job in a timely manner. Sure I could potter around on my own car but I can spend my time doing 'stuff' that I'm proficient and efficient at doing.
    Keep up the great work!

@K Y Description and operation of pushbutton start for 2018 impala. Right from service information. GM tech here. It's actually not easier to steal a push to start car. Here's the way it works. Doesn't seem easy to me! When the vehicle Stop/Start switch is pressed, the low frequency antennas emit a challenge to the keyless entry transmitter. The transmitter receives this challenge and emits it's response as an RF message. The transmitter transmits a signal that contains its unique value, which is received by the BCM through the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver. The BCM then compares this value to a value stored in memory. The BCM also monitors various control modules to determine if the stored environment identifiers match.
If the correct transponder is detected, the electric steering column is unlocked, and there is no start disable from OnStar the BCM will send the prerelease allowed message via serial data to the ECM. The vehicle will be allowed up to 3 seconds run time. If the theft check is incorrect, the environment identifier check fails, the incorrect transponder is detected, the electric steering column is locked, or there is a start disable from OnStar, the BCM will send a negative response and the ECM will not start the vehicle or will immediately shut off the vehicle if prerelease allowed the vehicle to start.

For the Bluedriver check their website and make sure your car is supported for the Mode 6/more in-depth info. Most companies are supported but some only have certain model years. But it will do the basic scanning of any vehicle with OBD2. Very happy with mine, watching the live data is pretty awesome.

I own a 2011 Kia Soul sport, bought it used 7 yr
ago with low miles. I currently do home health and drive 800-900 miles a week for work. I’m approaching 178,000 miles and it’s still going. My only issues last 2 years have been- new alternator, a new battery and fixed the a/c for $800 because of a short circuit after hitting some road debris. I’m happy with the car and the spaciousness of the cabin. It’s great to haul stuff, too! It’s hard to consider another car, since it’s my second Kia. I think- once a Kia owner, always a Kia owner.
Scotty- how can I ensure to keep this lil hamster 🐹 car going and going, specially when nearing 200,000, due to high mileage job?
Thanks for your advice or suggestions!!!!

I had a 2012 Kia Forte EX, Originally my mom's from new. It was always a solid car for us, the only check engine light we had on it was for a faulty gas cap, nothing else. We were particular on maintenance (which is why I think ours was fairly reliable) followed everything by the book EXCEPT FOR OIL, we changed that every 3 thousand miles with synthetic. I sold it as of recently, it was bittersweet. The Forte, AS LONG AS ITS TAKEN CARE OF, Is truly a decent car. When I sold it, it had no signs of mechanical issues, transmission and engine were running nice at 115k miles. Scotty is right about the "rough ride". Suprisingly it was a sporty little sedan, definitely had firm suspension, even the base 2.0 was QUICK for the class.
