- In this video, I try out Gouging Fire! While it has a lower usage rate than both Raging Bolt and Walking Wake, it has a ton of potential. This team features a Clear Amulet Dragon Dance set that can sweep through teams with the combination of Dragon Claw and Heat Crash. Gouging Fire's signature attack, Burning Bulwark, is also especially useful as it can burn opposing physical attackers.

What a pleasant surprise to pop on my feed today 😲I honestly didn't think this team would make a Cybertron feature! I do love this team - I got 6-3 in Portland with a pretty tough schedule but ultimately struggled with TR. I've actually replaced Landorus with Corviknight for certain matchups (including TR) and it's worked wonders. Got top 4 at my PC yesterday and Corviknight was MVP.

@@ronnycrawf2441 Set is Tera Fire Rocky Helmet Brave Bird/U-turn/Taunt/Roost. Completely checkmates Landorus-I, "walls" the Ursalunas (realistically still takes a ton but still helps with TR), reflects intimidates, breaks sashes with helmet chip, forces comical amounts of recoil on some mons. Good against some other things too but the ones I listed were things I've struggled with without Corv

While we're talking about Encore Whimsicott in a Gouging Fire video, it's worth mentioning that since Burning Bulwark does NOT block status moves, if a Gouging Fire ever tries setting up in front of Whims you can get a guaranteed encore off since it goes through the Bulwark

I've been using a rain team with Lando-I Quaquavale Archaludon Ogerpon Hearthflame Amoongus and Tornadus. I've been really successful with it so far sitting at top 1000 atm.

One thing I appreciate with these new Pokemon are how many of them have incredibly acceptable nicknames that aren't used as jokes or memes, just sensible time savers. Flutter, Hands, Ogre, Bax, big stapler bridge.
PTP is an insane player and team builder. Just played against him with a newer variant of this team yesterday at a 30 man local and it was one of the more intense sets I’ve played. Really strong team with a lot of options!
Aaron's mentality is always so impressive. I've never seen him tilt or misplay due to emotions.
I think it's impossible to tilt if you've missed that many Will-O-Wisps in a row before

I absolutely love Gouging Fire. Currently running a rocky helmet/howl set along with a DD set on different teams and trying to figure out which I really prefer.
As for QOTD: I find it hard to do just one… but go give TheFatRat a listen. He does something really cool with his songs, which I won’t spoil. Specifically listen to ‘Stronger’ followed by ‘Close to the Sun’ or the whole Parallax album in order of chapters

QOTD: If you like piano, "vs. Yinu - No Straight Roads - Piano Duo" is a piano only version of a Malaysian rhythm game. Each song has an EDM version, rock version, its own theme version and there's a bunch of YT videos out there with multiple combinations of each version of each song or simply isolated versions (like the aforementioned Piano duo, which is one of my personal favorites).

Glad to see the Gouging Fire showcase! I've always loved Fire Dragon as a defensive typing and I think it has a great set of offensive and supportive tools. I've been interested in pairing it with defiant users rather than running clear amulet, especially since it can offer howl support.
For QOTD, my most listened artist of 2023 was Bowery Electric. They published a few drone-heavy post rock albums in the '90s and early 2000s that I'm very fond of, though they're admittedly a little inconsistent. I'd highly recommend listening to the songs Empty Words, Lushlife or Next to Nothing.

QOTD: Very late here, but I really like "Derby Girl", by Warpstar. The whole album, "Live from Your Stereo", is one I highly recommend. Super varied, a variety songs from the up-tempo to the balladic to the philosophical, even - it's tremendous stuff.

You were asking about that slow Flutter Mane being Pixie Plate or Choice Specs, when you already saw it use a Special Attack Boost energy. You also said “I don’t need to use Tailwind since his Flutter is slow” but you actually would’ve lost if you didn’t, since he still had one turn of Tailwind.
In Game 2 Aaron was like Oh Booster Flutter special attack, then completely forgot and started thinking other items LOL love u man

Are the games in the same order in the final video as they are in your recording?
Because it always seems like game 1 in the video is about showing like a best-case scenario for the flagship Pokemon of the episode (Gouging Fire in this case).

Fun fact: Dino Entei is the heaviest paradox pokemon overall. (590 kg! Even Emboar's 150kg lol) So heat crash's gonna deal 100+ most of the time, having stab, harsh sunlight, protosynthesis and an extra dragon dance is a literal overkill.
Highly recommend Morning sun for him aswell he learns it at 42. With harsh sunlight its 2/3 total hp!

Out of the three paradox beasts they've released, I think Gouging Fire is probably the most well designed both in singles and doubles. Such good typing both offensively and defensively, it reminds me in a way of Heatran.
Album rec would be Cibo Matto's "Viva! La Woman", been listening to it a good deal lately. The first song off the album Apple is immediately attention grabbing.

I think that Burning Bulwark, as well as Spiky Shield, King's Shield, Obstruct, Baneful Bunker or Silk Trap (hope I'm not forgetting about others) should activate their secondary effects against Unseen Fist. At least Unseen Fist, less sure if also against other moves that slip through Protect status like Hyper Driller (definitely not against Feint, which deactivates Protect).
I feel like that would make Urshifu way less oppressive, by making it get afflicted by those effects and get punished.

QotD: Anything by Chikoi the Maid, but I highly recommend the whole Leaving Reality album. It's purely instrumental, so it's just about the music. The opening track, My Sweet Little Maid, has some amazing riffs in it.
As for Pokemon, while Paradox Pokemon may not explicitly be Legendaries, I still count them as such, similar to Ultra Beasts. So, when I see a team like a lot of what we get now a days, I don't get excited by playing them or by seeing them. At this rate, by the time all the content for Gen 10 is out, teams are going to be nothing but Legendary Pokemon and that's just boring. This may be the last generation that I play and I'll just stick to the older games from there on out.
