- Articuno just won a major Pokemon VGC tournament! Nikhil Reddy used a really unique Choice Specs Articuno with Alolan Ninetales to win the Utrecht Special Event. His team is easily one of the most creative teams that have come out of the Regulation F format and it's incredible to see Articuno thrive and rise to the top after so many years!

Showing the rental code screen before the showdown analysis is definitely really helpful as it lets us get a really fast, Birdseye view of the sets before the deep team teardown. You can just see really quick stuff like "OK, standard Lando-I set, it's follow-me Ogerpon not Swords Dance, and it's one of those AV Raging Bolts that drops Thunderbolt for speed control, cool". Once you have that knowledge from the jump it's so much easier to focus on what matters in the detailed analysis.

The Legends Z-A reveal made me hungry for mega Pokemon so I've spent the last couple of days sorting by oldest and catching up on Aaron's earliest CZcams vids in ORAS. It's been years since I started watching these videos every night before I go to bed, often taking multiple nights per episode, but I have finally caught up on videos.
It is actually pretty nutty to hear the words "bulky" and "Articuno" in the same sentence, since in the past Articuno was more akin to a wet paper towel when it came to the VGC metagames of the past. I absolutely adore this change to snow in ScVi. Gives opportunities for these cool (pun definitely intended) Pokémon to shine.
QOTD: Since gen 1, I've always loved Articuno. I still remember feeling like it was actually the most legendary feeling of the bird trio since getting to it actually required solving a proper strength puzzle (which I absolutely despised, which made the reward of being catch Articuno feel even better!) And ever since I've very much liked to use it whenever I had a chance!

I would love an episode of trying out like, 2-4 gimmick sets, a video of trying to get stored power amnesia dudunsparce sounds hilarious and you can also do an analysis throughout the episode on why gimmick sets don't work outside of bo1. not that it has a complicated answer but seeing why firsthand could be interesting and very entertaining

Damn, and here I was tapping out early on Sunday because I thought it was going to be a loooot of similar balanced team matches and I was burned out on them. I should have kept watching.
interesting how sacred sword ignores defense and evasion boosts. But ice types in snow and snow cloak are not considered boosts. So they both still get their value.
Held items also work the same (Eviolite for instance isn't ignored), it just ignores stat changes

Hey Aaron I was wondering why fire is a better defensive Terra for nine tails than electric. It seems to me like they both resist steel which is important, but electric is only weak to ground whereas fire is weak to ground, water, and rock (which ice is also weak to so u can’t terra out!)

Resisting Fairy is the main reason - allows you to survive Choice Specs Tera Fairy Moonblast from Flutter Mane, which is one of the biggest threats to denying Aurora Veil
