  • Hey guys, thanks for watching!
Lots of people ask what toys we use to train our parrots and where we get them from. This video tells you where and what they are called!
I'm leaving links for all the toys I can in the description below!
Positive reinforcement is one of the best ways to train your parrot to learn basic behaviours and bond with it! Target Training is also an essential skill that helps so much in training. Introduce the toys slowly and at your birds pace. Let them get used to them and enjoy the experience.
Training provides mental stimulation for your bird and can be fun for both you and them!
Don't forget to keep your training sessions prompt and no more than 5-10minutes. Also try to end each session on a positive note.
The clips shown in the video show just what you can achieve using these toys, but don't forget it takes time, patience and effort too!
As usual, any comments please do leave them below!

My budgies love those rattan balls, they tend to pick 1 up from 1 area, and carry it all over the place. Then give me a look. and toss it down between or behind the cage where I cannot get to it easy. (I tell them not to do it, and sigh when they do) They have trained me very well lol. I have about 50 rattan balls now I think. at least 40 of them are behind the cage now lol. (I scoop them all out of the back with a stick when I do my cleaning). It is fun to watch. I plan on buying more :D
Buddy will yeet the rattan balls around, still teaching him to interact with more things. He seems to like to play with items when he is on my desk foraging area. Maybe he just likes an audience more. The larger plastic balls with a bell in them are still kinda scary, pretty sure its the noise. Not sure if he would be into the plastic toys at any point. Still getting him used to natural toys. 6 years in a cage alone, no toys, didn't do him any favors at all.
I did catch Holly playing with one of the foraging piñatas from Planetpleasures a few days ago. She is still not sure about things. She does come out a lot more on her own now though. She gets so floofy, love it. Even does a little call every now and then to let me know she's out.
After 2 months the 2 rescue budgies I got, finally figured out I am not attempting to eat them and have started taking millet seeds from my fingers on their own. That was a huge break through. It was amazing the female did it first then the male was like WHAAAAAT. He had to see what she was nibbling on from out of nowhere lol. Now they spend a lot of time in my hair xD
Just made some new chop today, turned out awesome. I added some herbs from your video to add some extra to it. Rosmery, Thyme, and Mint. Gave Buddy a tiny piece of mint to try, he loved it. Put some more on the chop plate for everyone else to try, by the time I came back, it was all gone lol. So I think they will really like what I made for them.
Hope you guys are doing well, great video btw, love the Ferris Wheel a lot. I might see if my budgies would play with that one. They seem more keen on moving parts than my cockatiels. Anything for millet really... lol!
(wish it would stop snowing here, hope you guys are having better weather than I am!)

    • @TheParrotTeacher
      @TheParrotTeacher  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey An!
Blimey, I knew budgies loved throwing them around, but yours take it to another level haha.
Plastic toys are hit/miss with many birds. We've found some that almost all the birds like, some some of them like and some they hate lol. Also it's the assessment of if they are dangerous or not that consigns some to the bin!
That's cute! Seems she is getting used to them and seeing them as fun!
That's great! Glad the herbs were a hit too lol
We are alright, doing the usual and trying to make as much good content as we can! It can be tough due to stuff we don't talk about on here, but we work hard!
I think it's worth a go, it's a real hit with our birds!
