I love how they made Zuko and Katara wiser, because that makes sense for their characters, but having Toph stay the exact same after 70 years was a fantastic choice.
Young or old, she's my favorite character, period.
She became more "open to spirits" and went just yoda way of being old and powerful but yea it was great choice

I love how they use that trait of your old days being your second youth, she was so serious in the flashbacks when she was chief but now that she's retired it's like her young self

No one ever talks about Korra's connection to Jinora, Ikki & Meelo. Its so beautiful since she is the reincarnation of their grandfather. It's like Aang got to know them through Korra for awhile & they got to know a part of their grandfather.

I appreciate the genuine effort Kuvira puts in to keeping specifically Bolin on her side, just because of the strategic value of a lavabender in any conflict
I don't think that's the reason lol. I mean..it would.help. but I've always interpreted it as she's using him as a pawn..like a big fck you to everyone of the "good guys" or to tone down the conflict between them...Because Mako is Li ked with everyone.....apart from his bending skills that is. Because I'm sure Kuvira is sure as hell Bolin ain't using it to harm others.

I see it as the usual keeping people under your control. If you can't use fear, you use propaganda. And here is like a mind conditioning tactic being used. Kuvira's whole schtick is the cult of personality. The more people are loyal to her in such degree, the more she can easily exploit them and easily discard once they're done being used.
Toph move to the middle of nowhere so she didn't have to deal with frisky couples within a hundred meters anymore.
Toph either needs to become immortal or reincarnate to whoop the ass of every Avatar going forward. So far it's worked well for two of them.
_Apparently_ there was an earthbender that, I guess, went all Zaheer, reached enlightenment, and then basically just bent the minerals _inside his own body_ to basically just _stop aging. For like, hundreds of years._

Just a reminder that yes that is the exact same swamp from the first Avatar series and it causes people to have hallucinations/visions. This explains why Korra had visions of the enemies she took down in previous seasons. Toph likely doesn't get any visual hallucinations cause she is blind. Although it may be possible Toph could have at least heard voices from the Swamp she has lived there so long that it no longer effects her.
also, some ppl live in the swamp such as the waterbender tribe, hallucinations only presents in certain ppl
toph is basically the iroh of korra, the old and lovable and everyone would miss her, she is a savage but you can tell she hasnt change one bit, just grew wiser

One of my favorite scenes, in the 4th episode Toph explains how all Korra's past enemies had convictions that weren't inherently bad. Equality for all, spirits reconnecting to nature, freedom, all good in their own right but shouldn't be taken to the extreme, because everything needs balance. This was such a profound thing for me, cause it also makes you view the "bad guys" and just opposite/different views in a new empathetic light. If only we treated everyone and all situations in the world like this. Take a step back and try to understand. I have kept that to my heart since and I try my best.

First off, nice callback to Bitter Work. Second off, I think it's perfectly reasonable and makes sense that everyone thought there was no more poison in Korra's body given how small the individual traces were. Think of how many people in real life think they've fully recovered from something only to find out later on they haven't. Maybe she subconsciously kept some in her, maybe she didn't, who knows? Either way credit to Toph for pointing it out before things potentially got worse.

One thing i like that they did with Korra. Season 1 and 2 the main villain was a Water Bender. Season 3 was an Airbender. Season 4 is an earth bender. The main antagonist is never a fire bender. Which is a nice break after 3 seasons of "the fire nation (and dai lee however you spell it) are evil.

I just realized that the protectors of the swamp follow the same pattern as the avatars reincarnation cycle. The last protector was a waterbender and now its an earthbender. Idk if thats just a coincidence or if the writters purposely did it.

Correct me if I'm wrong - I don't think Korra ever told Katara that Toph was alive, and Katara thought Toph passed along with Sokka and Aang. I understand Toph just wanted some peace in the swamp, but with how she and Katara bonded, no matter how rocky it was, it would've been so damn heartwarming.
