  • The Caro-Kann can be the most aggressive opening in the right hands. Alireza Firouzja is a great example of using it to attack like a madman. I tried to go for the setup he used to defeat Tari.

    Awesome analysis. I struggle in the Caro-Kann Exchange so this was a timely video.

    3:25 - this actually is the way I play against the London. (Just with the Bishop on f4, but what we see here can transpose with Nf3 Nc6; Bf4 e6; Nd2 and so on.) I play an early c5 and to e3 I answer with cxd4 and that transposes to an exchange Caro-Kann. Of course, there are other ways to play and I am familiar with them - and I'm still yet to lose against the London when I play an early c5 and cxd4 - but you get the idea.
    This all is thanks to you, Stjepan, who showed me very useful plans, introduced me to the minority attack and of course made me understand my moves better abd understand positional weaknesses. Something I can only thank you for.

    I find your commitment to positional chess rather noble. One day it will all be detonated in a stunning sacrificial brilliancy and I will weep for what has been lost

    On the plan with Kg7 - I found Qa5 before you played it, but after Qxc3 I couldn't find Bf4. I would have taken the rook directly and supposedly lost. This is something I should improve in my game. I didn't even see Bf4 when the analysis got to that move.

    Hi, I was thinking about the position at 14:19 you say that this position is winning for white but I was not so convinced so i tried to but could not find a way for white to take advantage of his bether pieces quality. aldough his pawns on c3 and a2 are weak and the knight can not move, he can always defend these pawns with his rook and knight and i dont find a way ton infiltrate with white pices either. Finaly i didn't find a way to make something with the pawn majority on the king side either. I tried it with an engine too but aldough it gives a 0.7 advantage for black, it seems like the engine is not able to break the position. So my question is did you found away to do it or did you think about it during your game? (I use stockfish 14 on lichess to analyse this game from 3 different lines at depth 32)

    What do You think is the best dutch defense for 1200 players?

    • @ChessHoodie
      @ChessHoodie Před rokem +1

      For 1200 players opening doesn't matter, it is not where a 1200 player wins or loses the game. A 1200 player needs to improve his overall game

    I don't understand how Queen C2 prevents Bishop F4. If queen takes, then white can take the B2 pawn and cause all kinds of havoc.
    I'm not highly rated. What am I missing?

      I assume you mean 4:35, if Bf4 is played:
      Bf4 Qxf4
      Qxb7 Qc1+ is checkmate

      @@simonkeyes6860 I saw that, but I was thinking of a funny line, does Bd7 works? If the white Queen takes the rook, then Qc7 and the queen is trapped with Bc6 coming to collect it?

      @@simonkeyes6860 I checked with the engine, white can play a4 or Na3 to meet Bc6 with Bb5, pinning it to the king, that's funny. Also a master game went Bf4 and black didn't take the bishop, I guess they didn't see checkmate haha
