    The single feature of many of these games that amazed me is how Firouzja disdained castling, took his King on long walks, and yet somehow the monarch was never in trouble. Great selection of games!!

    I finally realize what alireza reminds me of, hes alphazero. Hes not afraid of weakening moves, he plays for activity and likes moving his king a lot :p

    I had a Rapid tournament on Lichess, I came accross this video 1 hour to the tournament, all my games as black was the Caro Kann, now guess what! I won it all!! awesome video

    The game against Tari is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. There are no sacrifices, and all of Black's pieces are perfectly connected, and White doesn't have a chance to defend himself, and White didn't make any major mistakes. Beautiful.

    Very nice video! You bring Firouzja and also th Caro-Kann. The last game, as an amateur player, I would never imagine the black's King walk to b8 and his queen's pawns attack at the same time.

    The Caro-Kann is an opening that's always intrigued me very much, but I'm hesitant to learn it because white can steer the game into many different directions. And that's me saying that as a Sicilian defense player lol
    I'm enjoying your breakdown of Alireza's games, and it's good to see a top player utilizing one of the all-time greatest openings and giving other people the confidence to do the same :)

      after e5 white has only a few practical lines, the sicilian is far more tactical and complex I would argue

      So you are not afraid to play the sicilian which is a chaotic opening for both sides, but you are afraid to learn Caro Kann which is less chaotic? Black is solid in caro kann in 95 % of the positions. For us amateurs caro is a perfect choice. But it all comes down to preference at the end of the day

    Great video. Lots of new ideas to improve my (admittedly shallow) understanding of the caro kann. One suggestion - please use the usual circles and arrows because post beginners like me have a hard time following all the rapid coordinate description and some of the more advanced tactical ideas.

    Sometimes I get annoyed when my Caro kann doesn't work out the way I want it to and then I end up losing the game. This kid always finds other plans. Very instructive

      I can't find Hikaru's comment on that game. Do you have a link? Let me guess. Hikaru thought 17...fxe5 was a mistake. It does not look like black's best move. But that does not prove that the caro-kann is unsound. I'll bet Firouzja will play a different move if he gets the same position again. 17...b6 looks OK.

    I think there is also play-style and strength you need to take into account next to just a strong player playing an opening. There are some openings that are so versatile that you can play them in many different ways. Some players play an opening very agressively and have good results, some play it positionally. For example not everyone will be suited to play the Caro like Karpov but will need to play it more acitvely.
