i have driven an FH500 I-Save from late 2019 with about 23 tons loaded. i was very impressed by the engine, gearbox and overall driving that the volvo presented to me! easily the best truck i''ve ever driven just talking from the driving site of things. can't comment on space offering
Very good review. The light payload doesnt do this engine justice. A 420hp engine would had been a good option for this combination. I drove a timbertruck here in sweden 60ton grossweight with a 540 and that load suits it realy well. The 16.1L 550hp is the more affordable big volvo engine but it has 2900nm of torque instead of the 2600nm of the 540. The most common in the timberhauling is 540 and 750hp from my experience. I hope you get to try the 750hp truck someday.

Had a v8 600 actros before it was traded for one of these fh 540’s and have to say pulling power sucks compare to the v8 but the comfort is unreal 👍🏻 all round good truck. Well done Volvo 😁

Chatta290 funny. I was going to say the same about how ugly these flat-nosed Euro trucks are. We had a flat-nosed eurostyle Freightliner for a few years but the ultimately preferred type of truck is the one with the snout. In the US, these are preferred because they are much easier to maintain and gain access to engine components. But I do think these flat-nosed designs are more appropriate for tight European roads. A large Freightliner, International, Volvo VNL, or Peterbilts could never make tight turns.
Juan Zingarello If you compare them they are worlds apart, American trucks are like euro trucks dating back many, many years with the nasty wood trims and the dials, sorry but I just think they should move with the times. But yes having a truck half the size of the trailers they tow would make the truck unsellable in the UK, trucks have a hard time already navigating around the country when off the motorway so any extra length would only be a major issue. It’s not just these trucks though, in the US everything is huge, buses, ambulances, fire engines etc.

The mode you call i-mode is actually called ecco roll, but who really cares. I love the video and the truck. I actually worked this summer on the production line here in Gothenburg where they put together the Volvo FM, FMX and FH. It was a great experience.

I was driving for 4 years by one of this truck, some years ago, before Covid. I had an I-Shift FH 460. I really enjoyed.

You don't want air suspension. When it pops it will lean until you get it repaired and it is not cheap.

The US doesn't get these Volvo FH trucks. What we do get is the V-Series with a large snout. Also a nice truck.
All American Trucks look ugly thanks to that ‘snout’. Their cabs are half the size of the trailers we have here. Simple a waste of space

volvo fh 16 is famous for its powerful engine .this truck take any load easily.also it has a emergency break system
But the new scania gearboxes are more responsive and faster
I know it’s the washer fluid there in the blue tank but I refer it as blinker fluid tank. Not everyone has it topped up and the indicators won’t work.
