      Volvos are not very good at cabin space and that gear shift has the worst position of all truck brands.

      Personally Volvo from my experience have the worst dealer experience. Promise the world and just don't deliver. Not sure what your local is/how they are, but look into it. Experienced it myself (I'm only a driver, so doesn't affect me) but have also heard it from other companies when talking about trucks with fleet departments. Out of our 5 local dealers, only 1 is okay, has you in and out quickly, stocks stuff. The rest you sit for hours and the trucks ends up VOR for 2-3 days at a time because nothing is in stock.

    Wow laying here in my bunk of my KW t680. I used to think this was a little on the small size. I'd go nuts in a truck that small. I'v always liked the idea of the cab over that thing had one hell of a turning radius

  • @truthseeker4823
    @truthseeker4823 Před 8 měsíci +1

    The Turbo Compound engine is all about low rpm pull(green zone) and preferably E- mode driving*one can always give throttle if the truck is slowing down to soon before descent(I-SAVE etc). The performance is amazing compared to the other manufacturers when it comes to heavy uphill pull due to engine and gearbox for example a 460TC will overtake 510Mercedes,500MAN,510DAF,500Ford and of course the usual 450Scania maybe 460 but the 500 inline 6 is faster. Of course one can compare the 500 TC from Volvo but than again most manufacturers offer stronger options on these engine sizes so it all depends. When you compare the torque on the 500TC (2800nm) with the strongest engine*increased capacity (770 Scania) which has 3700nm one can't complain! Let's not forget that we are not racing these trucks but delivering goods on public roads with normal, more or less experienced drivers within a time/schedule window and with driving time regulated by tacho by minute so eventually one would think that every second matters and in perfect traffic conditions it might be so(hence the powerfull-high maximum speed limitation will be the 1st to reach a target location but perhaps just a few minutes faster than the other(lower power/lower speed limitation/less experienced driver etc.or even later if one makes a coffee brake) Unfortunately someone needs to push(overtake when it's safe /overtake a small car if driving slower than a truck and so on) because otherwise traffic will not flow normally/in a good rhythm so eventaually this is the Volvo TC experience(a good driving rhytm). Enjoy driving!

    The big gaping grille looks horrible imo.

    Scania used them for years on the 470,480 and e5 420's i think... Brilliant idea but you need to change the turbo at a sensible mileage because if it blows on the exhaust side the only place the impeller will go is straight into the compounder... Then your into a rather large repair bill.. Plus it adds more back pressure to the engine thus raising already hight EGT that modern trucks run at... In my opinion these will become an unreliable truck at high mileage

    • @ram89572
      @ram89572 Před 4 lety

      Any time you make an engine more complicated that's what happens. Adding all that extra after treatment crap is what has made them not last as long as they did when I was a kid back in the 90s and early 00s. Just like how I've got a reliable Vortec V8 in my Chevy pickup but the new engines Chevy offers in the Silverado all have that cylinder deactivation crap that ruins the engine around 100k miles. I've personally got 150k and still going strong. My dad's Silverado is 3 years older and has about 215k miles still running strong. But those trucks were 2004 and 2001 respectively and the new ones get less reliable each year thanks to "improvements" in engine efficiency technology

  • @ajidamarjati

    Dear Stavros969: I Love Your Videos. So Thorough. Great Video this time as well and its Lovely the Volve FH 500 TC. I wanted to ask you some questions Please. You are an independant Truck-Driver and You have your own company, I believe from your father, if I am not mistaken and that you drive loads with your own trucks, isn´t that correct? I myself really want to become a truck-driver. But how do you find your loads, Stavros? Do you use some of the "Load-Boards" in Europe, like for instance 123Cargo, Eulogis, Della, etc. or how? I would guess that by now, you have your own faithfull clients, but is it possible to make a living via Load-Boards in Europe, just like many do in the US? Do you have your own trailer or do you just have your truck and then the load comes in an already loaded trailer or what? Is it absolutely necessary to have your own trailer, to survive as a truck-driver in Europe or is it possible without owning your own trailer?
    Thanks Very Much in Advance.
    Sincerely Thomas Lerche.

      No - technically - if you increase the tractor length you'd have to decrease your trailer length to meet the length regs. A longer cab is available - but are hardly ever optioned for this reason. Be good for liquid or tipper work where trailers are shorter because of the heavy weights.

    Not to rain on Volvos parade, but I would go for the Scania. We bought 5 of theese and the fuel efficiency is not that great compared to Scania. The overall quality is not up there either.

    Unfortunately silly Volvo don't know what makes a truck tick,why would u have a control panel on the rear bulkhead ,that can only b used if u r straight in front of it ,u can't use it from the bed ,u can't turn the night heater on from the bed again u can't see it do u want heater on ,do u really want it on ,do u really really want it on,why would u want to unlock the doors from the bed ,unless u were having a heart attack and need to let the ambulance men in .it's a heap of fhit

    I do like the Volvo’s, especially the XXL cab, does anyone know if the XXL cab can pull a 13.6 m trailer?

      I think it depends on the type of operation used. General haulage possibly not.

    Right Stavros, we know already what the interior is like on the Volvo Range, get too the nitty gritty on what it’s like on sipping diesel 😉 10.2/4 mpg 😳that not great is it

      That's great for a truck. Even 8 is fairly decent. The big Peterbilts and Kenworths they use in the US only do about 5/6mpg

      @@chappy2121 aye but they tramp on them lot,60/70/80 mph, hell I even had one pass me doing 90mph when out stateside many years ago

      @@exsoulagent no doubt. UK they're restricted to 56mph still arent they? I think its mainly due to them being engine infront making them very un aero. Strange that you seldom see that type in the UK anymore. Pretty much only cabover here now haven't seen anything else for years
