- After almost a year after purchasing the Black Hunter Longbow here are my thoughts.
This is still a great bow for the money regardless of your experience level.
I know the shooting wasn't that great it was 100% me not any of the equipment.
I highly recommend this bow for anyone wanting to tryout traditional archery.

I definitely need one of them "designated arrow retrievers". 🏹🎯😏
A nice and genuine Southern.
Respect to you Bro.
I like your Military Police bazard on your quiver ! I was a 95b also. Good review. I’m in SC, I wish we had the hogs to hunt like y’all do.
I have the black hunter recurve in 30 lbs and ordered 40 lb longbow limbs. I have many bows and this is by far the cheapest price bow but I shoot it more than all my others
Young buck is probably a pro with that bow by now .
Nice one
I bought 2 of them last year, love them for the price, recurve and the long bow have the same riser ,also got extra limbs from Twig archery
Shoot Twig, Score BIG! :-)
How's your black hunter holding up? I've held off due to the multiple reviews of the bow splitting and the string breaking. It's such a good looking bow with seemingly a lot of potential, but I'm not interested in throwing away my money or smacking myself in the face on the draw...
@@chriss.3476 Those are old reviews.
I heard this a nice bow for the money too.
Hey Andy ! You and several others have talked me in to this bow. Got it on eBay for just a tad over $100 ! Can’t find a flaw in it, and it shoots hard, no hand shock, and quiet as a mouse fart. First arrow I shot was in to pond bank from front porch,(you know the shot) held way to high, that one is stuck in the mud at bottom of pond ! 😄
Buddy of mine wins or at least places with his at big shoots in the super senior class. It’s fun to watch him spank the high end bows with his cheap china import.
Hey Randy did you get the longbow or recurve version?
@@BigRigOutdoors i got the longbow. You going to cloverdale next month ?
Expensive bows don't shoot themselves and sometimes suffer from bad engineering.
Need new carbon arrows finding them is a problem
What distance were those targets?
I have this bow with 55 pound limbs and a 28 inch draw. Took my first shots this afternoon. Never shot anything but a crossbow before. After about 50 shots my left elbow hurts. I can't even draw the string to my cheek so I ordered the 45 pound replacement limbs. Hopefully they will be easier to draw
If you never shot a bow before you are better of with a 30-35 pound bow. 45-55 are hunting weights, not beginner at all.
@@antoespiga My comment was posted 4 months ago. It's no longer an issue
@@ElkArrow That's fine. Maybe someone reads it and helps.

@@chriss.3476 The string issue is with the string that comes with the bow it's a endless loop Dacron it's cheap and not worth using. Get a Flemish twist string B50 and you'll be set.
The bow it self is great and a lot of the issues with the bow is caused by user error.
Laminated bows need a little TLC you have to be careful how you store them and exposer to heat.
Like leaving the bow in your vehicle under hot sun can cause the glue to soften.
Also limbs crack if improperly strung.
This can happen with any trad bow.
Cool vid, what brand originally makes the black hunter? I see many brands with that model.
Mandarin duck was the original I believe, but almost all of those bows are manufactured in the same two facilities.
@@BigRigOutdoors so would any black hunter suffice?
Junxing Bows is the original maker. They sell it and other companies including Mandarin Duck rebrand it. They are all the same great bows.
Gostei de mais do vídeo cheguei pra somar e espero que some comigo tbm abraço
Bring on some more fish videos😁
I'm working on it, been super busy with work but things are going to slow down soon I'll be back to fishing soon
I have the recurve version. What's the fast flight like. Wasn't even sure if bow could handle it
Yes the bow is fast flight compatible, the best way I can describe it is you want feel the stretch of the Dacron and you'll notice the weight feels like it's a bit heavier
@@BigRigOutdoors ok ty. 👍🏻maybe I'll try it.
I'm really interested in getting one of those, but I'm undecided on recurve or long bow. Could someone tell me pros and cons for both, thanks.
Recurve will have more speed usually, longbows are a little more forgiving
They both shoot dam near the same speed, the longbow is quite a lot quieter, i have both and prefer the longbow.
What about vibration and noise?
@@philiprogers4071
Where did you by your black hunter longbow from
@@philiprogers4071 I second this if anyone is still shopping.
Can you use fast flight string?
thanks
Yes this bow is fast flight compatible
What fast flight string did you buy and from where?
It's been so long I don't remember I what material I believe it was a D97 and it would have come from 3Rivers Archery.
My black hunter longbow is back hunter and glurak it seems 10 different people have sold this bow. Anyway mine is 40lbs and 8 grain per pound my arrows are at 190fps. Are you sure it's at 155? Do you have less than a 28in draw?
My draw length is only 26.5-27 inches and I shoot 10gr per pound on most of my arrows some are higher than that.
@@BigRigOutdoors ok that makes sense.. thanks for getting back to me man.
What is the best long bow ? You can recommend.
Either the Old Mountain Mesa or the Old Mountain Mesa 2 or the Bear Archery Montana. All three are fabulous bows for the money.
But they are all one piece.
If your looking for a takedown the black hunter is a good bow.
@@BigRigOutdoors thanks for the info !
They used to have hogs down in Kentucky about a decade ago there was a problem . Them suckers can make a mess out of anything .
I grew up in Ky I used to hunt hogs in the estelle county
What ya really need is a PSE with white limbs, 35#, and a bunch of mismatched arrows ! 😂
I kept that old thing for years.
I gave it to a friend that was getting into trade bows about six years ago.
It's hard to believe I had that bow for over twenty years.
So that bow is capable of harvesting deer?
Yes it's more then capable for hunt big game animals, I took a 180# wild pig with it last season @ 15 yards
@@BigRigOutdoors nice, I'm just looking at bows to get into bow hunting and compound bows just have no appeal to me. Just too much to mess with. I want something clean and simple.
An Asian with a southern accent!!!
That bow is made and devised in China, but if you go on Ali Baba the Chinese refer to it as an “American Hunting Bow”.
Why do you kill animals? You don't look hungry or underfed. Frustration? Agression? Triggerhappy?
