The Black Hunter longbow is a bit of a gem. I tried the recurve configuration and didn't take to it. What surprised me is how much power both these bows make. I shot GT 5575s cut at around 29.5 and 125gn up front out of 40lb. Should have been way overspine. But they weren't really. A little more weight up front (maybe a lot more lol) and you get a real nice shot.

Thanks for the video, Currently I have a Black Hunter 30lbs recurve (happy with it), and now literally just ordered a black hunter 50lbs longbow a few hours before watching this video. I assume I’m going to enjoy the longbow more after everything I’ve read and heard online.

Thanks for your out standing video brother and God bless you. It helped out clearing a lot things out that other videos do not do.

Hope you like it. Just got in mail tonight. Have to tune it. I shot it a few times, kinda loud. But not tuned yet.

Draw weight is a big deal, the recurve may be drawing more then #60, the longbow may be drawing less then #60, and you wonder why your fingers hurt. Theoretically the recurve stores more energy then the longbow, and should feel harsh on the fingers! Recurves should always be noisier due to string hitting limbs! These “Black Hunter” bows and clones are a boom to Traditional Archery, I very thankful for them, they have added more Traditional Shooters then the Movie “Deliverance”.

like you did, i bought the two in 60# and yes, the longbow feels 5 pounds lighter. .the recurve should shoot alot faster. .i'm waiting for twigarchery to open up 5/18 to get the black spitfire reverse limb recurve in 55#. .it's reminiscent of the black swan and black widow bows, for $200. .totally agree with you the longbow in 60# is the one to have, tho' i've removed the rabbit fur from both; changed my mind on that. .i'm going to shoot from 2117's to 2315's to 2317's and see what i can get away with with 600 grains arrow weight

Either one at 45lb to 50 depending on how strong you are. You really can't go wrong

Was thinking of getting this or the recurve at 35# as my first bow. Any thoughts does one make a better bow for a newb? Is 35# too much to start with?
I'ma little nervous ordering these but thankfully it's fulfilled by Amazon so if it's really bad I guess I can return it.

35 is a good starting weight. I think the long bow would be better because it is smoother to draw

I got my Black Hunter longbow in 40# with stringer and rubber wiskers from Twig Archery about two years ago. I have an honest 29.5" DL and while some mild stacking is a given in the last half inch, it is not at all objectionable. However, I do wish it came in a 62" or 64" AMO. Honestly, 62" would probably be ideal for DL up to 30" and under. Currently looking into the Old Mountain Mesa 64" longbow from 3 Rivers Archery. Would love to get my hands on a Bearpaw/ Arrowforge Anubis in 62", but not at nearly 3 times the price of the Mesa.

Both bows you said are bows I want to get my hands on. Any bow from 3 river archery will be better than anything thing from Amazon

The reason the recurve is harder to draw than the long bow is the length of the bow. The shorter the bow more it pinches your fingers.

Fur rest is not felt, careful to apply it with fur in correct direction.

Just a tip, stop cutting your frames and starting at awkward starts. It's a very weird editing style, makes you look like you're rambling. Great review though.
