Hey nick i am scheduled to see a liver transplant specialist at Vanderbilt University in July this will be my 1st visit. So needless to sayI will definitely be looking forward to your upcoming vid. Any tips or suggestions you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for sharing your story. It is comforting to see a fellow Tennessean who has overcome so much and is doing so well. To know I am not alone In the fight against liver disease, cirrhosis. You give me and many others in the community strength & hope. Thank you brother
My mother died from a liver transplant. I have went thru the process at Mayo Clinic JAX and decided to opt out as I felt it was changing one problem for another. I literally was in the clinic when Greg Allman was there as we were on the same schedule. Not to scare anyone going thru it, but my mom got aspergillosis and it went to her brain. At that time there was no treatment for that and now there is. Her death has nothing to do with my decision.
It absolutely is a huge decision that needs to be considered on an individual basis. I've opted to put off a transplant for as long as possible because I know that there is no 100% guarantee. However, having gone through the qualification process, I hope to help educate people on what to expect on their journey. Best wishes to you!
