- With this video I wanted to show The very simple and cheap if not free power gains that can be made to the MS 194T.  with a little bit of work you can take a very much cheaper and lighter more agile ms 194t and outperform the big dog ms 201tc !
I recommend ALWAYS let your sthil saw warm up BEFORE cutting .
two strokes warm up incredibly fast. if its not cold out it should be fine. and he had most likely already been running it before the tests anyways
I bought a 194t for limbs and I think it works good stock for limbs. I use my big saw with 3/8 pitch chisel chain for trunks.
Horrible comparison! Idt ive personally seen a 200 or 201 cuts so poorly in my entire life! Its spitting out powder! 194 is spitting chips! I expected it to be close. But definitely not beating it by that much! I hate how people who dont know what they are doing. Try comparing something and put out horrible videos like this. But anyone thats ever used a 200t or 201, knows that they do not cut that slow! Without operator error!
Might be overkill but I’m buying the 201 as my first saw. I have 12 medium-large fruit trees and 6 pines. Just need to prune them yearly.
Ooh, I highly recommend the echo 2511 over the 201. Do a muffler mod, and you're good. The 2511 isn't as powerful, of course, but comparable and so much lighter and easier to use well worth it. I promise!
Get whatever makes you happy bud! If you aren't climbing trees regularly or at all. Weights no big deal, even if u do climb. 201 is still a great saw. I stand behind them all day! I was a Line Clearance Arborist for 10yrs. We used echoes before in I didn't care for them. Stihl is extremely reliable and stands up to abuse much better then echo or Husqvarna. If you do want a Lil bit lighter and one with great power maybe the same as or more than the 201 for less money. Get the Husqvarna 540 xp mark III! I don't have a lot of experience with it as a daily. But I do with stihl and echo. And I can say for the money echo is good. But as far as a saw that'll hold up to the test of time. STIHL all day. Also this was a horrible comparison video seems how he "dulled I mean sharpened" the chain on the 201. It's throwing powder instead of chips!
I could tell by the speed difference as well. That was a huge difference. Something that wouldn't happen from the lil mods he made. I'd expect it to be close to the same since the 201 is stock.
But to have 4 second difference?

How did you get the choke switch for the new carb to work?
That's a good sharpening job on the 194 chain. Bigger chips and engine digs into its torque band at that cutting speed. How much improvement do you think your tweaks made? Is 194 gutless without them?
I don't know exactly how much "improvement My tweaks made" exactly. I would need to put it on an engine Dyno for that. But if I had to guess I would say somewhere in the ballpark of 35% to 45% power increase over stock. If you don't know that is a huge power increase , especially for Is no cutting of squish band or porting and polishing. I would certainly be suspicious of anyone claiming members like that lol.
I have the saw and if you know what your doing and just dont dog it out with too much pressure you can cut anything! I run it all stock! Its def a little underpowered and slow but its also ablut 1.5lbs lighter then the 201 and its smaller. I find myself keeping it in my daily driven car its this nimble one hand use all day long! Half the price and i will order the 201 knock off farmertec for the same 199 price i got this little 194
@@holeshot1721 These mods are simple and cheap! I promise if you do them you will be VERY happy with the results and glad you took the time to do them. Here is a link to a fantastic video explaining exactly how to carry out the mods step by step. The only items you will need is a thin square file OR a dremel with a thin shaving tool, and a punch to remove the flywheel. Have seen 1/4 pitch on 194 i like it but lot dont might try nano cos rekon slighty smaller chain smooth thanxs

Yer always remove baffle on 151 and will on 194. Timin should do but havent still seem better. Thanks

I had to use different carbide burrs and several worn down dremel cut off wheels to get rid of the baffle on mine. I have ported the Strato ports, transfer ports, and intake port. One step colder plug and ported carb, non E 91 mixed 32:1 with maxima K2, now rapes wood.
The way you took your baffle out sounds far simpler than the route I took, lol. next go around/video, I'll do it your way. If it works as well as I think it will, I will definitely give you the credit by name. My way, I cut it open. Removed the baffle and welded it back together. I'm pretty sure my way is the hard way, haha. Thanks!

Muffler mod and swap a carb, like it, which ms250 carb did you use? I do the muffler mod and 025 carb on my ms250s and it wakes them up alot
For the MS250, I use a carburetor off of a 044 .

Hey man! Just got a 194t and started to grind out the baffle. How much would you recommend removing? I opened up the existing holes a bit and don't really see much of a difference. Anything will help! Thanks.

@David Kaminski About a month ago I dropped my phone and it totally took a s***. I lost all my data except what was on the SIM card. I had 3 videos worth of content on there kind of pissed

@David Kaminski Yeah, trying to recover my data was the 1st thing I did, but gotten nowhere, the phone is completely shut down. I've been trying to go through my phone insurance to use a data recovery specialist that they use. I still have the phone & i'm way over the time limit that I was supposed to send the phone back after they sent me a new one. Do you have any suggestions?
That bar upside down is killing me 😂
Why? When you put hours on a saw, you turn the bar upside down as you sharpen chains so the bar wears evenly.

What all did you have to do for the 250 carb to fit? Also did you use a 250 primed carb?
I'm interested in the mods and how you did them. Did the carb require modification to fit? Wouldn't a carb from a bigger saw dump more fuel, and the 150 carb dump less, or be more lean? (My bad, did you say ms150 or ms250?) One comment though, why bother spending the time on making sure the wood is consistent for your cuts, but didn't take the time to swap bars and chains and drum/whatever to make sure your saws are also consistent with one another. Without using same bar and chain on both saws, your saws vary by way more than just the engine.
Jacob, thank you for your comment. I just uploaded a video showing how to do the Muffler mod. And a few other things. Dude, you're so right! It was pointless to use wood that would cut consistently but not use the same bar and chain. I'll make a short video doing that. hopefully, I can have it up today.
@@arboristlife3494 I also just wanted to point out that using a board does not create consistency. A board is simply a log with the edges plained off. It still has different growth patterns and knots. Grab yourself some plywood, OSB, particle board, anything that is man made of equal consistency throughout. Then you can screw/nail them together and cut through those. Also using the same bar and chain with a fresh sharpen each time. For the absolute best results while eliminating as much variance as possible, this would be ideal. Also amazon has RPM meters for 20$ or less. Some wrap around the spark plug, some go off of sound, and then there are laser ones that you can point at the clutch drum etc.. The laser ones are the most accurate. However the sound ones are nice because you can not only check RPM when not under load but also while under load (cutting). Even if the RPM gauge is slightly off it's okay because you are measuring the difference between two items NOT what their exact RPM values are.

I haven’t really considered it until now, I hear you can make a lot of power with the 200 T. Have you worked with them in the past? If so what have you done?
@@arboristlife3494 never really work on them but I have used some that are ported and they are little beast for sure and I’ve heard they’re pretty pretty easy to port

@happy days I do not believe the 201 bogged down at any point. If you could Tell me at what Timestamp did you hear it bog? Besides the 201 is M tronic And recalibrated prior to the video. So I'm not completely sure what you're talking about?

I can't say anything about the muffler mod. But I will say the using a carb from a ms250 is bullshit there's no way to mod that to work. PS I've been a Stihl mechanic for 7+ years.

I was wrong. I looked at it after I made the video and realized I must have been high or something. LOL. they were both running .325
