    The body of this bar is made out of metal. The top part is covered with a solid rubber that makes it impossible to accidentally hit other components of this trigger. The bar is bent, to adapt the round form of a drum pad.
    The smartest feature of the Roland BT-1 is this 2-way mounting system. The trigger can be mounted onto a L-Rod or directly onto a regular drum rim. It will not fit uncommon drum rims. This is one of the very best features, as it prevents you from buying additional mounting gear and it saves setup space, which was my main motivation to buy it. I simply do not have space for additional clamps at the spot where I want the trigger bar to be.
    This component has to be removed, to apply it directly to a drum hoop.
    Another genius feature of this mounting system is the shock isolated mounting system, which is necessary to not trigger other pads trough unwanted vibration transfer when hitting the Roland BT-1. I still hat to change the XTalk to ensure there is no tom rim triggering caused by very hard hits.
    The Roland BT-1 does not cause much unwanted room sound, but quit some impact noise if mounted close to the rack or a stand.
    The bar is not only very sensitive but also triggers consistently at every spot of the rubber surface.
    The jack plug is placed at the best spot possible. It will not get blocked by other parts and the cable does not get loose through vibration. Btw, the bar comes with a stereo jack cable.

    What are the other items needed to make this bar work if i’m just using as an additional snare with my bebop acoustic kit. (Amazon links if possible 🙂)

    I'd like to add a rim click or cow bell sound to my TD1DMK. There's a spare jack but my understanding is that it would only produce a crash cymbal sound through the TD1 module. Is this correct?

    hello, nice review thanks ... could you tweak your sensitivity settings and use this with your fingers to trigger sounds/loops ?

    • @Vdrumtips1
      @Vdrumtips1  Před 6 lety

      Simon Wood I do not think it is as sensitive. You have to hit hit quiete hard with a finger to trigger a sound.

    I have a TD-11 with no extra inputs left but want to mount the BT-1 onto my vdrum snare rim, just to use as a separate cross stick (the snare rim trigger is not consistent however I adjust the settings) and then run a lead from the BT-1 to tap into the wiring of the rim trigger on the snare. Since both the snare rim and BT-1 will not be hit at the same time, will this work?

    Can this be used to trigger sounds on Garageband? Or would I need to get a different software or a different piece of gear to use it?

    Not a cowbell lover, but I wonder how it performs as a KickDrum if you mount it in a kind of DIY structure.

    Can I use BT-1 as replacement for Hi Hat Roland CY-5 and just reconnect it to existing hi hat stereo cable (on Roland TD-4)? If so, is there less pricey option? Thank you for consideration.

    Do you reccomend this or the drumtec Trigger bar

    • @Vdrumtips1
      @Vdrumtips1  Před 7 lety

      The BT-1, as the drum-tec one needs additional gear, is not covered fully with rubber and has no consistent triggering. But, if you are on a budget and already have mounting gear, you should consider the drum-tec one.

    I have a BT-1 that does NOT trigger evenly across the pad. Anyone know why this is happening? I am plugging it directly into TD-8 with a single cable (no Y splitting on either side, etc).

  • @EduTred

    I love my "banana" too! Just an opinion: trigger bars are great for sidesticks or "one shot" percussions. If you want to do some rolls, its better to buy a pad. I think every drummer knows that, but I think it's worth to say that. If you have a different opinion, please tell me. Regards,

    • @Vdrumtips1
      @Vdrumtips1  Před 7 lety

      I agree. I am using it for sidesticks and rolls, but never for rolls, although it would be possible.

      I use a TD 11 and I hate the cross-stick action. Do you know if I could assign a cross-stick sound to it and keep the snare pad for the snare sound only?

  • @gxbchiro

    Great video! Yes Roland stuff is overpriced, but the quality is such that when buying use Roland instruments you still get great working gear that will last a long time.
    That being said, it is too bad the TD-25 does not allow us to use the drum rim to assign instruments to the BT-1 like you are able on the TD-11 and 15 (and others) using splitters. The only way to use the BT-1 if your Aux is already taken is to use a Roland TM-2. That sucks!

    A NIGHTMARE to use with the TD-20. Disregard what the manual says - you cannot use this with the included cable and PAD 1 setting they specify in the manual. You have to use it as a mono (HEAD ONLY) trigger so either use a mono cable OR the included cable with trigger type RT7K (acoustic drum trigger). As far as crosstalk goes when mounted to the snare, I never was able to get rid of the ONE-WAY cross talk. On a high velocity hit the BT1 kept misfiring. The only way to eliminate that was to increase the BT1's threshold to a level that then made the BT1 unplayable at lower velocities. So if you have a TD-20, beware. There is no BT1-SENS mode on the module and you'll have to mount on its own. I lost DAYS trying to figure it all out (with the help of many) so hopefully if someone reads this, I will save them a headache. By the wat Vdrum Tips: What model is the L-Rod clamp you used? I'm struggling to find a way to place the BT-1 close to my snare without being attached to the snare.

      demonocus drumocus Well, the price comes from taking time to invent a proper product and then to trademark it. The bars that come cheaper are made by people who did not have the recourses to develop a really good product and they can therefore sell it cheap. The "cheap gear planet" is a place where I don't want to go anymore:) The key is second hand good quality gear. The bar cost me 65€. (Used)
