- Courtesy of Ken Vendlinger, here's footage of former PRR D16sb 1223 on the Strasburg Rail Road in 1988 or 1989. In the video she's pulling her train back into East Strasburg and whistles for the crossing as she approaches the Engine house.
This is part of a larger video with footage of East Broad Top, Cass Scenic, Gettysburg Railroad and Strasburg featuring 1223 and also 89 after being restored to service in the late 80's. The video is very nice and is available for sale from Ken on eBay, it's well worth the price!
The full title is:
EAST BROAD TOP RR, CASS RR, STRASBURG RR, GETTYSBURG RR, STEAM DVD
Here's the latest instance of the listing for the video (just a note that the photos in the listing are not actually from the video oddly enough): www.ebay.com/itm/272556910234?...

This little engine went from pulling premier passenger trains to pulling local freights in Maryland, then back to hauling passengers on a popular tourist line, to starring in Hello Dolly, then to pulling three high-speed mainline excursions, and then to permanent static display. What a career.
Ah yes my second favorite locomotive from pennsylvania I'm serious pennsylvania is my favorite railroad
I have that same engine and whistle with it
Same engine meaning the “Trainz” version of the engine, or a physical model?

@0:01 Whistle for K&L
WE Trains , well spotted.
This very well could've been the source that K&L got the whistle from. Then they just edited it into a 3 part echo whistle for Trainz
@@katerinakittycat3849 it is Steve's D16's Whistle.

Almost sounds like the T1 whistle on Grand Trunk Western #6325 back in 2004.
Some people are talking about a possible rebuild.
Hope they do rebuild her!!! Also they are saving up to build a round house by the turn table!
Where have you heard about this? I'm very intrigued.
Rail Racer The roundhouse? Or the build
That ain’t going to happen
THE TIME IS MEOW! Probably won’t happen. 7312’s rebuild is going long as it is (10 years now) and they’d be unlikely to restore two more that would be expensive
Same whistle from k&l trainz.
Yes!
Man i wish you can go to strasburg one day in that way i can see the j class 611
what whistle was she wearing at the time this was filmed?
Her very own Pennsy 3 chime she had while in service with the PRR. One of the best whistles ever made.
I agree.
And that is my second favorite locomotive god i wish i can go to strasburg pennsylvania in seeing that thing in person and i would be like wow that thing is huge and i would just hug it
0:01 this is on trainz
since when did strasburg own an F7?
2006 Chevrolet Kodiak 4500 Duramax
I don’t believe the Strasburg ever did own any diesels other than diesel switchers like the 44-tonner SRC 33/PRR 9331, since sold, and more recently their SW8 SRC/Conrail/NYC 8618 and recently acquired Santa Fe SW9 1235. They also have two Plymouth switchers 1 and 2, and in the 50’s and 60’s has some other various small diesels as well.
The locomotive that you identified as an F7 may have been either a locomotive they were doing some contract work on and/or Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania equipment.
oooh, ok
Besides the manager at strasburg railroad likes to keep all steam operations only.
That F7 was put on display. It's not going to be moving for a long time.
