We then shifted our focus to the KNOWLED professional lights by GODOX, witnessing their impressive expansion to their line of products, considerably. Seth followed that update with a conversation with Jim Reisman from NiSi, about their latest addition to their Athena Cine Lenses. He walked over to Tilta where they showcased the Kronos iPhone modular system, revolutionizing smartphone filmmaking. Last but not least, we knew we had to speak with Mark Cruz from Nikon/RED to understand the latest merger of two industry giants.

Thanks for making these, next best thing to being there. The Godox F800 and F400 RGB Panels 7:20 are exactly what I was hoping to see! Also the audio, B-roll and editing is amazing given the turn around time!

he just glazed over the fact that the new blackmagic cine cam is also a 24mp stills camera, that's crazy...Blackmagic killing it!!
So is the panasonic S5iix which has 6k, BRAW, ibis and AF for half the money.
The blackmagic is called a cine camera but doesn't even have ND filters let alone a changeable lens mount.
It's literally a re boxed pocket 6k with zero accessories for way more money???

There is always a stills button on the pocket camera but it’s not for photography. It for reference photos or location scouting and such.

That 2x Nisi PL teleconverter is pretty incredible if it only loses 1 stop of light as claimed. No other 2x does that.
I dont know much about it but I'm assuming a big reason that Nikon Aquired RED was their RAW patent? I think we're going tp be seeing Nikon cameras with true RAW CDNG and RAW compressed formats pretty soon

He said the PRYXIS has camera control over SDI but the camera only has SDI out, not SDI in like their studio cams, so that can't be right?
I have been using the iPhone 15 Pro Max a lot, and it is really good. Easy to work with. Not sure about the khronos system, it looks really cool, but I have been trying to avoid proprietary connectors and parts. I have standard mics, ND filters, 1/4 mounts, monitor, etc, so none of it is iPhone specific, and can be used on any other camera.
Ok but like, what about smallrig? There’s a couple things there that I wanna see. So excited to see what other brands have to offer too. So far no one is slacking off and we got banger after banger.

Excited to test out the Blackmagic PYXIS, but which mount???
Technically you can get EF to L or PL to L adapters that will accommodate most ef and PL lenses. Look it up.
L mount all the way, it’s the larger and shorter mount.
You can mount anything on it.
You should get the L mount, sigma have a great adapter for ef lens (that even enable auto focus for cameras that have this feature). You have a lot o Pl adapters and even some LPL adapter. But with L you can adapt to diferent vintage moujts like sony fd, nikon, leica M and many more.
It's too bad that the 6K camera is so expensive with expensive batteries and it's so big. It makes no sense and no HDMI why? Also no built in wireless video? Z CAM is still the leader here.

NAB is sadly becoming irrelevant. Gone is the excitement. When Red sells out to Nikon - you know things have shifted. A race to the bottom.
4:35 Absolutely wrong. You CANNOT do anything with this camera if you just slap on a lens. We need an assistant cameraman (AC) and a monitor. The side screen is useless to use as a monitor for a single person situation. But we could do that 100% on the 'OLD' BMCC FF 6K perfectly which is by the way about $500 less expensive. We can buy the superb Lumix 35mm f/1.8 lens with that money and can shoot a whole movie. Just saying...
What I want to know is; what about the ridiculous RAW patent RED has? I hope Nikon does the right thing and just terminates that patent so the industry as a whole benefits.

Lol...funny how everyone has been shitting on Nikon all these years and now they want them to "do the right thing". I honestly wouldn't blame them if they leaned into their investment for a while before they consider doing that. They deserve some reprieve from all the haters.
Doing the right thing doesn't make business sense...in what way does Nikon make more money by letting the patents go? Best case they license it out for internal use vs external.
