    Hi Gavin, I went to a dollar store and bought a few bundles of dried spikes and use it in occasions to shoot a model through the spikes 😀 the are around 1 inch wide at the thickest part but since I have many of them I can cover sufficient for a cool look, just like you use the twigs 😀

    Good stuff, except that petal hoods are for wider focal lengths, while cylindrical hoods tend to be for longer focal lengths. It's got nothing to do with whether the lens zooms or not. For example, the hood for Canon's RF 50mm f/1.8 lens is cylindrical, while the hood for the RF 16mm f/2.8 lens is petal-shaped (sadly sold separately). Both are prime lenses and their design is almost identical with the same bayonet hood mount. But if you were to put the cylindrical hood on the 16mm lens, it would block the corners of the image.

    I'm so happy I found this video, I'm used to using back button and love it, but I'd never have thought about using the * like that and it's incredible. However, I found sometimes when doing servo, even if I kept the back button down it refocused when moving the camera - what was I doing wrong, how do I lock it? I ended up putting it on one shot to avoid this (I was shooting musicians at night in a concert) and in this case it worked better as they were a big jazz band and not moving that much. But would be good to know what I did wrong! Thanks btw.

    Hello, thank you for this! I was wondering if you were able to share what would be the best solution for when you are shooting indoors in a space that has window lighting but also has tungsten lighting inside. I typically gauge by what the dominating light is, but I still find that I am getting mixed lighting in this case, it just seems like the type of situation that you can't really do much about, or am I wrong? :-/

    Why 2000th?

    • @GavinHoey
      @GavinHoey Před 2 dny

      Because super wide apertures (like f/1.4) let in loads of ambient light which is recorded by the camera along with the flash and can cause issues such as image ghosting, colour shifts and exposure issues. High speed sync (HSS flash) allows us to go beyond the limits of normal flash and shutter speeds... This video explains why czcams.com/video/mRF7ocz8K5E/video.html

    1/2000 shutter speed, is it because a slower speed like your cameras sync speed would let to much light in making the photo not as blurry? Or is it something else? Awesome video!!! Can’t wait to try this.

    • @GavinHoey
      @GavinHoey Před 2 dny
