Glad to see you Guy's compare these two different options. The Jackal is a piston operated w/adjustable gas block, that upper alone is $650 w/no stock or brace . The standard D.I. $+300 does not have an adjustable gas block, so you will need to install your own $$$. for adjustability, even if you will be run suppreessed. The piston will run hotter at front but cleaner . Good job Guy's 👍
VERY informative. This helped me make a big decision for my next build!
Thanks, man! 😎
Great review. Thankyou.
I have a similar build to yours and when I was getting the backup one I chose to get the same type of build instead of a jackal
I grew up on DI builds so I can’t help it :P
Well done on the video, its edited well, and great commentary from yourself and Chris. Coming to your channel via airguns, I can see the benefit (and similar bullet drop for subsonic ammo) of these heavy subsonic rounds. I also appreciate the "dollar sportsman" comment on the LaRue triggers, I'm all for the best stuff... but... diminishing returns... so thank you for the more budget recommendation.
Have you had any experience or seen any data on subsonic ammo brands (powder and airgun pellets/slugs) that significantly expand in a hunting (or gel) scenario? Many of the videos I find switch to supersonic ammo for the expansion test, or they shoot into water or clay. I'm beginning to think that the speed of the projectile (under ~1100 fps) can't be overcome.
Thanks for your time and your video.
I haven’t seen enough except for airgun slugs in clay; there’s lots of power to be had from subsonic but paired with the right hunting prey (not big game except hogs).
Wish you'd tried some subs through the Jakl.
Deal 😎
@@TheDollarSportsman What I really want to know is if it will run subs reliably with some of the more popular low back pressure cans that are coming out and making waves.
The only thing I like about the jakl is the fact it can be fired more than once when the brace/stock is folded
The budget AR can swap tops shoot all 3 556/762/300 the JakL can’t,run 14.5 keep 10.5 762/10.5 300 🤫uppers n mags in pack for SHTF,leave them combat gassed and duty bolts goes a long way
Sound advice, brother 😎
The jakl currently has 5.56 and .300 uppers and they’re making a 7.62x39 and 5.45x39 version in the near future along with the 9mm, .308/7.62NATO, & 6.5cm. All you need is one AR lower with their buffer adapter for the pistol cal, rifle cal, or .30 cal. They’re also making a bullpup lower that’ll fit the jakl uppers. Once they’re all in production It will probably be more versatile than a cheap budget DI since they all come with adjustable gas blocks and folding stocks.
@@xi-deadshot-ix5838 yea the jakls are cool but they take specifically manufactured parts for repairs/parts the standard AR internal parts can be found or ordered everywhere, but a 12.5 7.62 JakL that runs either AR47/AK mags would be different but that 762 bolts reliability is the factor not many duty quality 7.62 AR bolts out there as it is why keep 10.5 .300 >10.5 7.62 only for reliability but 7.62 >.300 all day for hard targets/steel 💨🚘🐗🐻 but that’s where brace AKPs 👑have their place, magpul guards are a must tho can’t shoot what ya can’t hold Val Kilmer 🔥🤣
@@xi-deadshot-ix5838a3 tactical already has a bullpup kit for the jakl called the triad
@@kenshin034if your going to do a 7.62 ar platform, your better off with the cmmg that’s based on the ar10 platform. On The psa version, it’s ar15 based an the 762 case is too big for an ar15 bolt face, causing it to have thin weak edges on the bolt face
Great video! I’ve been going back and forth between the two different platforms for my next gun. Curious what did you use to make the AR stock fold?
Thanks, man! This is a Silvan Arms folding adapter; it’s available from PSA so I just grabbed one with my build.
Psa is good but we also all know the hand select the best parts for a rifle they know will be youtube tested. The best way to test is to get a random that’s not hand selected for CZcams to make their stuff look better than it is. Because a lot of the times these halls have issues right out of the box
I’ve never actually had any issues and have built/shot lots of their stuff. The rifle build in this video is one I bought and built. They did send me the JAKL for review, though.
Adams Arms piston is as fast or faster than DI. Just get the 300 BLK piston upper & its super light too
And it's good that doesn't reciprocate. When you shoot so you don't bust your fingers.

22 creedmoor?
How dare you compare without running the Jakl without a suppressor! Might as well have compared an apple to a cheesesteak sandwich
Now I want a cheesesteak sandwich 🤤; DANG IT DUDE! 😆
Truth be told I didn’t have an extra brake and didn’t want to change the configuration since I’m supposed to send this back. However if I get a chance to suppress it I will and try some sub sonics and such.
@@TheDollarSportsman LOL! all good. Enjoyed the Video
Dumb comparison. You should have run the same suppressor on both guns.
@@mattlarson9897 that would have been better, yes.
Send some $ so I can afford another muzzle device and I’ll do it again 😆
