    thx, yes it will help, that and just spending entire rounds on your left hook and focusing on the body rotation with a loose arm

  • @PrecisionBoxing
    @PrecisionBoxing  Před 11 lety +1

    I appreciate your comment as I know you are being technical in your approach. I just want to point out that I don't mention hips at all in the video, nor do I mention shoulders. The footwork drives the movement and allows your 'body' to execute, the correct footwork allows you to pull it off and guides your body. I don't want guys thinking too much about hips or shoulders, with the right footwork the correct rotation will happen automatically. However, you are still correct with what you say

    Amazing! And the shift makes the whole movement really fluid and the left hook comes out so much more easier! I always thought I had to lead with my lead left foot when I move (except when I'm moving to laterally to the right). This is very new to me! Can't wait to try it out!! THANKS (again)!!!!

    Really wonderful videos! I leave in the Seattle area and have been to a lot of mma and jiujitsu gyms, but this area doesn't have a lot of boxing gyms and I feel that striking is the best base to have, so getting such intricate details like on your videos is priceless. I have two sons and they've done light pad work and really light rolling for awhile, but your videos really shed light on the finer details that allow me to understand the movements and show my boys. Much Thanks.

      +Lane Meyer thanks Lane, where I grew up in the suburbs there were no boxing gyms, it wasn't until I moved to the inner city that I had access to them, and now 20 years later they are dispersed back out in the suburbs. So I know what you mean about access, its not always easy.

    You are correct early in your video when you describe that the turning of your hips drives the power of your hook, however, if you watch your video closely when you throw your triple hook there is limited hip movement.
    I would recommend simultaneously stepping forward with your left foot while turning your hips down, like you're slipping a straight right hand constantly before every hook, to add power to your punch. If you look at your hooks they are driven by your shoulder instead of your hips.

  • @GeorgeOu
    @GeorgeOu Před 11 lety

    Very interesting. Basically it's the same mechanics as a shuffle lead leg roundhouse kick, but using the arm as the weapon instead of the lead leg. Gotta try this!

  • @PrecisionBoxing
    @PrecisionBoxing  Před 10 lety

    I have a video on improving a lagging technique, i posted it not long ago, it should help. At first my left hook was my worst punch, I kinda pushed it and didn't get my shoulders into. Unless you have an injury or there is an issue with your arm its just gonna come down to putting in the work. In every combo you need to double up on your left hook, and dedicate entire round on the bag and in shadowboxing throwing the left hook, soon it will click

    Hey JT,
    Wanted to let you know I fought on Sunday in Oz. Was very tired as my daughter was ill in the morning nd we spent time in hospital. She is fine, but I left exhausted and fought in the afternoon.
    I thought I would just relax and just treat it like sparring, but try some of these things. I trailed the Triple hook, Landed on the 2nd and followed straight down the pipe with my Right. Did it again in the 2nd round and took him out with the hook.
    Love your material. Legend!

    as always great explanation and a nice strategy to vary more the attacks when moving forward. A small recommendation for the videos Jason, it would be great if you could include a short footage of the fighter performing the technique that you break down in your videos, like in this case Johny Hendricks using the multiple hooks, that way it can be seen in action. Maybe its too much work but its just an idea, and don't get me wrong your videos are still the best.

    Not boxer, martial arts but back foot placing is good. Makes for great lateral movement especially to left and also backwards..push off back foot..not really compromised. Not all textbook stuff work well for everyone and in all situations. Everyone got their own style..long as comfortable and works. Nice vid.

    I like your'e vids dude. I think this good standard footwork for trebling treble lead hand shots. A double and treble lead hand shots can also be thrown in one longer step. Jones used to throw doubles and trebles in the same step.
