- We tremendously appreciate all of your support over the years. The Folk Firearms Collective is a husband and wife team comprised of Denny Ducet and Alina Aldobrando. Our goal is to preserve the passion, art, culture and traditions of the blackpowder community and the adventurous history behind it. Should we fail to immerse ourselves and educate each other in this rich history, posterity will wither and cease, leaving the younger generations to never experience the joy of such times. Join us as we disconnect from all the modern noise and chaos.
To support our channel, please feel free to become a channel member and gain access to exclusive content. All proceeds go to powder, ball, and associated accoutrements featured in our videos.
We humbly thank the Flathead Valley Muzzleloaders Club for their dedication to this craft, the land on which we shoot, and most importantly-their willingness to partake in this preservation of history. Of all the folks we’ve been honored to spend time with, these gents and gals are the greatest of our friends. We are forever grateful for their influence and education in our own lives through the course of our traditional muzzleloading journey.

"Must have been a crooked ball"
hilarious.
A bit of truth there in the humor -- many of the lead balls were hand cast in the old days (and not factory made) and had inconsistent quality Sometimes physical deformities manifested, where the lead ball retained a bit of the sprue where it wasn't trimmed off properly (not perfectly round) thus affecting the ballistics. Sometimes the lead had impurities or voids inside that affected the balance and ballistics of the ball as well..
@@Hjerte_Verke I love the idea of having the balls and stuff made by myself. :)
that's a good way to grow old ♥
To heck with golf.
@@FolkFirearmsCollectiveRather sling a lead ball than drive a golf ball any day! Only one of em will feed ya at the end of the day haha. Great video and music!
@Arcahnslight thank you friend!
These are without question the greatest videos to ever grace CZcams.
You are so lucky to be firing your flintlocks , recreating a piece of history, and even dressing for the occasion. Great vid thank you.

Over twenty years ago I watched one of those men shooting a smooth bore out to one hundred yards with accuracy and banging the gong .
Awesome video!
Great video and great fun thank you 👍
Absolutely love, love, love all your videos! Would love to meet you all in person. You are an inspiration to every muzzleloader enthusiast everywhere! Keep the m coming!!!!
That means a lot. I like to think of it as we are inspired by the muzzleloaders everywhere! Perhaps we inspire one another and that’s what makes this hobby/life so grand and enjoyable. It’s quite an uplifting endeavor to pursue the traditions here. On occasion I see the intact pursuit of traditional muzzleloading on the east coast with envy as well! Believe me we strive to keep these videos coming with every bit of free time we have. If I could - it’s all I would do. Keep enjoying the videos and we will keep them coming.
Time very well spent!
such beautiful country! looks like so much fun with good people ! ty for sharing!
That blue rifle is a revelation, didn’t know that some stocks were painted, very eye catching 🦋
First saw a painted stock in a Muzzleloader Magazine article, don't remember which one though. Interesting and definitely different.
Definitely! I love the color! Never seen one before but wow!
Aye glad to see you uploaded again.
Thanks for waiting! Glad you’re here.
Thank you for a great video ! I grew up in the area where DAVEY CROCKETT and SGT. YORK were legends, so my favorite rifles were southern long Tennessee rifles. Due to age and medical conditions I can no longer get out, but your videos give me a lot of pleasure !!! Keep it up, I look forward to seeing more !!👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you sir. This is a very inspiring and humbling post here and gives me all the more reason to get these videos out. I hope they fill you with the sense of being there once more.
Very nice video. It looks like this shoot was at a different site than most of the videos. Great to see your wife shooting her blue trade gun. Such a unique firearm!
❤️🤘🖖
Denny, is that one of Clay Smith’s Bumford fowling pieces? It sure has nice trim lines!
Yes indeed. 1760 Bumford blue and vine painted Trade gun! Good eye mate! Also has all appropriate proof marks and hand made brass. He does fine work.
Turquoise muzzleloader, I could imagine indi a new having something like that.
It’s a 1760 Bumford trade gun or Carolina Type G. The blue was taken from paint chip samples of the time, and there is historical records of these blue trade guns as you just mentioned traded with Indians and others at that time. Some were taken from an Arsenal during the revolution and used against the British by a boys regiment. The vine pattern is taken off a Bumford trade gun (original) featured in the Museum back I believe in Williamsburg. Clay Smith is a renowned gun maker of Williamsburg and he built this particular trade gun.
8:37 wow that was a nice shot
Incredible
Man, good times and genuine friends what a way to live life. You guys should add archery to your arsenal💪
Best moment is at 4:56-5:01
POW!...Pinggggg.
my favorite is the long shot 8:38 - that is a small steel target at 100 yds. Unreal. Marksmanship!
You gotta love flintlocks! Regards from the Czech Republic! :)
Thank you!
Hello from New Orleans Louisiana... Keep your flinty reason firm in Jaws of a Iron to strike at a well spured cocktail of sweet tobacco with a savory tale of Beaver 🦫 escaping the clutches of those Hudson Bayer men Aspiring with those knots blazing in the cool dewy pines...
want to take my son to something like this so bad.
"Make sure to bring that one girl. We'll need something for the thumbnail."
Well that confirms it. I need a Flintlock.
Indeed you do
A bunch of old men and Sacajawea.
god I love firearm technology
I grew up at rendezvous! I'm surprised I don't recognize any of these guys... Actually is that Frenchie and Sasquatch?
8:45 freaked me tf out!!!!
But ok it’s fine
🇦🇺😎👍
That was great The only thing that would have made it better would have been to make it an hour longer !
😆 to think how I have to trim these down! Hardest part is music. I need more
Folk friends with fiddles and mandolins and banjo to pluck some traditional tunes. Hey there’s 20 more videos also! Thanks for the compliment.
Good to see them flint locks. Ive everything to do except the stock
What ranges were you shooting at?
Everywhere from 30 yds out to 100 yds was the far ones on the hills.
What is the rate of twist of most of those pieces?
Varies by caliber and barrel.
Mine is 1:66
How many are muskets, and how many have rifling?
@@christiansorensen7567 oh depends on the day. Sometimes it’s 50-50. Hard to know exactly as some days guys bring their Fowlers, Fusil or trade gun so many smooth bores, other days it’s a lot of rifles.
06:11 unc hit dat za
for real, who down votes this?
Democrats ?
Are these rifles originals or reproductions?
Mostly well fashioned and custom made reproductions.
Out of all the men in the video, it's the girl that gets to be in the thumbnail xD
She’s my wife and helps run the channel. Plus that blue trade gun just pops!
Das sind ja alte Schießprügel.😂
It must be nice to dress in period clothes, fire muskets, camp and then go home to a modern warm bed.
But back then, it was a matter of life and death.
Where are you all located at. Would love to come and join your club side wannabe grizzly Adams
NW MT Flathead country
I'm thinking real seriously about moving to Montana to that area but I'd like to get closer to your guys's club and find out about trying to get into your club with you guys I have the same kind of views I build muzzleloaders for friends and stuff like that and for myself been doing it for a long long time I'm also a knife builder animal licensed gunsmith
Thank you for you two are doing you're doing a phenomenal job to keep this sport alive and try to teach our young ones you know there's more out there than just a computer
@@larryadams2184 Getting in the club is easy, trying to afford living here is a whole different thing!
@@waksupi What's so expensive? Looks like there's great deals on land. Is it more of hard to find employment issue?
