Pro tip: always remove the fill plug first on a manual transmission or transfer case or differential. Not to make it drain easier. But because the last thing you want to find AFTER you drain it, is a stripped or seized fill plug.

Loving the content gents! Don’t be intimidated by the sealed transmission, it’s a lot easier than you think, and well worth it! This dipstick is replaced by a fill and check bolt on the trans case and sump. The fluid is not ‘lifetime’ as Toyota suggests. It’ll last the service life of the car, no doubt, but all fluids break down and degrade over time. This transmission isn’t any different, and should be serviced to prolong life and reduce wear. Just do a few drain and refills, measure what comes out, and put the same amount back in. I made a long and thin hose/funnel combination and fed it into the fill bolt via the engine bay to refill the trans. I noticed significantly smoother shifts, as mine had 240,000kms on the original fluid! But hey, if it’s still shifting nice, just send it 😆

Hey guys I work at an independent trans shop.
For trans fluid there are two bolts in pan one is 12 or 14mm thats your drain. Crack it free don't remove. The other is probably 6mm hex. Whack with hammer an then see if it breaks free. If not up the ante with cold chisel turning the plug out counter clockwise bit don't remove yet.Drain fluid. Reinstall drain plug, I don't personally change crush gaskets. Pop out level plug Pump 4 litre in level/fill hole. Reinstall plug. Check service manual for temp to check it at. Get scan tool start engine. Check live data for trans fluid temp. Get to specified temp. Iirc like 50*c. Pop out level plug. Fluid should flow out. Let drain till slows down Reinstall level plug done. Torque spec is till it feels good.

These vehicles dont have a dipstick for checking oil or refilling. Theres a bolt on the side of the trans that you remove and is used for refilling the fluid. You use that hole, measure your oil and cross reference with the manufacturer capacity. Fill it back up by using a pump. Drive car around till the oil is heated to operating temps. Come back, lift car on level stands or on lift, with the vehicle on and in drive (might need a hand so someone can be in vehicle assisting), remove 24mm bolt again, some hot overflow will come out. When the flow is small put bolt back in and your done.

I’m a Toyota tech if you go ahead and remove both drain bolts at the bottom of transmission oil pan to drain it then there should be a fill plug on the side of the transmission with the letters SW on it normally on the rear where the tail end is . The small plug is your level check on the bottom closet to the engine . To remove all the fluid you remove that plug and inside the hole there is tube that you can remove with an Allen key that well let you drain it completely. After you pump a few quarters into the trans into that SW plug on the side until it drips from the level check plug place drain plug back on then turn on vehicle waiting for it to get to temp then remove level check plug and SW plug fill again Until fluid begins to drip. And you are ready to go👍🏻😁

The fitting on the ATOTO head unit is PERFECT! By any chance, could you link the double din kit you used for it?
    Love this series

For the diff you always want to take out the fill plug first. If you take out the drain plug first (like you did) and by some random bad luck you strip out your fill plug you won't be able to get fluids back into the diff lol

I only just cleaned my throttle body on my 99km mazda 6. Dealer tried to charge me money to do it. It was waaayyyy cleaner than yours but cleaned it anyway. Most people would have just paid the money.

Its not that hard to do that transmission fluid change. Put vehicle on lift or stands. You unbolt the pan. Then see how much oil it had by putting it in a measuring bucket. Remove filter, clean up the magnets, pan and mating surfaces. Put pan back in. Now you reference the oil in your bucket to what the manufacturer says in your manual. Gives you an idea of how much to use and how much your transmission is leaking/burning. Unbolt a 24mm bolt it has on the side for filling. Use a pump to put fluid in. Re install 24mm bolt. Once that is done, you bring the transmission to operational temperature by driving it around. Come back and place the vehicle on lift or stands. With the vehicle on, and in drive, undo the 24 mm bolt and there will be some coming out. Careful it is gonna be hot. Once it flows out of the 24 mm hole slow or minimal oil comes out, put the 24mm back on and your done. Definitely don't belive toyota on that lifetime oil bs. Toyota states oil change every 70k but I like to do mine every 35-50k and its plenty of dirty every time.
