      Hi Rob - I saw you posted the Celeste album on Insta the other day - hope you're enjoying it...cheers Dale

    I absolutely love the Lanegan and Campbell albums, there voices are perfect together. I need to check in on those reissues. I had the CDs and played them a lot. Thanks for showing those Dale

      Hi Steve - I think those unofficial reissues are from the US so you might be able to find them

    HI Dale. I used to love Paddy Kingland's music for Dr Who in the eighties...he had an 'ethnic pipes' patch on his synth, the sound of which now makes me feel very nostalgic. Those Top of the Box books look like the ticket. I always meant to get the Campbell/Lenegan LPs but never got round to it.

      I could easily get lost in the BBC books and hopefully it won't prove too expensive in subsequent purchases. I think there are a series of Radiophonic Workshop reissues coming too...

    Hi Dale. I have the Entropicalia album but haven’t heard anything else by The Soundcarriers. I picked it up when it came out and thoroughly enjoyed it so don’t know why I haven’t looked at their subsequent releases. Will have to stream some of their stuff.

    Hi Dale - I have never heard of Dinked Editions before. There are lots or pairs that are new to me in this video.

      Hi Brian, not sure if Dinked is a UK thing. More pairs coming soon...

    I have heard you talk about The Soundcarriers before and they do sound very interesting. The same goes for The Coral and I do like their album covers.

      Hi Randy - I highly recommend both artists and they both have a strong catalogue of studio albums..

    France or Belgium - interchangeable apparently 😂
    The BBC Fourth Dimension on vinyl is a very nice find.
    Dungeon Folk sounds intriguing to me too.
    I prefer the new artwork on the Celeste reissue. I imagine they didn’t have the rights to use Julian House’s artwork from Ghost Box on the other album. I’ve always thought using an etching on Side 4 of a double album was a bit of a swizz. Much better to have more music as you said. Take care, John.

      Thanks John, I'll try and find out what dungeon folk is all about. I suspect it isn't the same as dungeon synth though...

    I have OG copies of the three Isabel Campbell & Mark Lanegan albums. The pressings are good so don’t shy away from picking them up if you see them for a good price 👍

      Don't say that John, although chance of finding one at sensible money is slim...

    I remember you recommended a previous soundcarriers album Wilds - I liked it but only listened to it a few times - will check out this one celeste - also downloaded a couple of weeks back sea of mirrors - easy listen love the band - the other one i didn't see so will do a search - thanks dale

      @gatefold33  Před 10 měsíci

      Hi John - Wilds ended-up being OK by the end of the year reckonning. Celeste is great and well worth a listen. I think the other Coral album was physical release only, so might be tricky to track down digitally...

    Nice bit of explanation regarding Celeste, I have heard Soundcarriers but unfamiliar with that record.
    The Coral are great, I need to investigate those records, as I always liked their early material, particularly Magic and Medicine.

      Hi John, I think both bands are worth exploring further. Can't really think of a duff album by either...

    Hi Dale, the Top of the Box vol 2 book sounds like it could be interesting. Does it cover the transcription releases which contained BBC In Concert performances? I must admit I've never heard The Soundcarriers - sound like they should be one I should check out. I liked early Coral and got a couple of their albums on CD - really should look into getting vinyl releases. Cheers... Pete
    BTW what's a dinked edition?

    • @gatefold33
      @gatefold33  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi Pete - The book covers BBC Records releases which were from 1967 - 1990. It would probably take a whole extra volume to cover the Transcription Services releases I think...cheers Dale

    I'm going to order those BBC books - just what I need. I had the canal boats album but sent to US as VCLT. Lanegan I saw live twice (excellent) but I've nothing by him.
    I'm not a fan of the 'etched disc' either.

      The BBC books will be right up your street Martin. I look forward to seeing what finds they lead to...
