Last autumn after watching a review from one of the tech guys I follow here on Youyube I gave in and bought the Topdon model TC001 - the one that plugs in to the Android phone via USB-C. I have wanted to have a thermal camera for many years and was regularly combing Ebay for used Flir cameras, but still couldn't justify the price. So I bought the one from Topdon (was actually surprised that they were available through one of the electronic equipment wholesalers here in Eastern Europe - didn't even had to order from abroad), and I must say that it's actually great for the price (apart from the bit lazy app with uncomfortable file management) - very decent resolution and accuracy (I did some own tests against a calibrated lab hotplate that can be precisely adjusted to different temperatures). Can really recommend their cameras - they are like one third the cost of Flir and similar brand-name cameras, but perform just as good (at least in budget segment, that is). If they will fix their app via future updates, it will be perfect for enthusiast and even entry-level professional market.
I have been interested in electronic senses I was like 7,, and in my teenage years I got german electronic shopping catalog,, and this stuff was sooo cool,, soo bad,, and SOOO expensive :-) now you can get them for normal money and 100 times better.
@@MyPlayHouse Haha, I totally understand you. I have a bit diferent experience - thankfully my carrier allowed me to get out of powerty I grew up in, become an engineer and even start my own industrial electronics design firm. As a result now these days I have a whole rooms full of electronic components, sensors and measurement equipment that I couldn't even have dared to dream about only some 15-20 years ago. And, of course, the thermal camera was my dream since the very childhood (80s movie "Predator" was the original culprit, of course :).
When you scan a hot water tank, pay close attention to any anomalies such as a hot spot somewhere in or on the shell. This would suggest that there’s a hole in the inter lining; it may just a pinhole that hasn’t leaked enough to leave a puddle. This would be the time to consider changing out the water heater.
Hi! Thank you for really useful and informative video that you made! I just subscribed you :) However I have a question that when you connect TOPDON to the PC, can you also get the visible light picture files, too? Through this video, I could see that you can access the infrared picture files and the infrared recording files. The only thing that I really am now concerned about is that whether can I get the visible light picture files through the PC connection, or not :) I'm waiting for your answer, thanks!!!
@@Texas_G_Longhorns If I may ask where? I almost pulled the trigger several months ago on their US site but now the prices all seem to be $100+ more today.
** funny bit, in the early 2k's~ one of the sony handy cameras with 0 lux night vision also had the ability to see through some clothes:P....later revisions disabled this capability by not letting people enable night vision in day light(this is where the problem occurred)

This reminds me of the ads in the back of comic books. You must be going to the bathroom after saving pictures of people.
I do not think I have seen ads like that...

The IR View (where you can see throw your socks) is just the Black/White filter, that you also have on the TC001 etc. or not?
I do not think the black/White has anything to do with it,, that was just what I was playing with at the time I saw it. :-)

Thank You! I must admit that I have not used or tried to contact it to the PC. I do not have a use for this option 😳 so far..
This is probably the best thermal camera on the market at its price range.
I am not going to disagree,, but I have not tried many.. :-)
I just bought one and it was $75 off the original price. Paid $265 plus 2 year extended warranty for $40

Hej Morten
The thermal camera is supposed to go sideways into the carrying case, at least that's what it looks like to me.

I do remember that,, they had to add a filter.... :-)
Could you add zoom to it?
I do not think so,, not sure you can use a lens for thermal.
To detect if someone is spying you at night 👀
