      2000watt in a laser beam? There's 1000milliwatt in 1 watt. The lasercube is 2000 milliwatts or 2 watts. 2 watt output is considered large nightclub standard. Indoor festival and stage application starts at 4 watt. Outdoor lasers start at 15 watt if there's eyecontact or 30 watt when the laser runs complicated patterns or shoots over the crowd.

    I like the lasercube. I saw it before it started in the US. I'm glad X-Laser got involved with selling them. This would be great for basic small shows, parities and home usage. I like that it comes with an E-Stop. The scanner being at 30k pps which gives pretty nice images at the end. The specs is really where you see why some lasers at the same wattage is more or less. Take the laser Cube specs. Blue 445nm / 1400m Green 520nm / 400m Red 635nm / 450mW. Red is always the weakest color to produce. Overall its the bast compact, battery powered and easy to use I've seen to date. I've had to buy lasers with more power rating just to get the RGB closer to the numbers I want instead the peak number.

    Man its crazy to see how things have changed from when I threw raves in '99/'00 and my laser guy's rigs (Argon, YAG etc) were gigantic gass powered lasers that required a desktop pc to run and were so powerful that the 5w yag could actually make the cinderblock wall smoke at point blank distance and actually burned the wood and fabric moveable divider wall that split the arena we used. I know one of his lasers was from the medical field and was gigantic even compared to the "smaller" argon unit. But I do recall that the rule back then for any laser over 4.9mW was that it had to be placed high enough so that even on a downward sweep the beams stayed at least 8ft from the ground so that it wouldn't hit anyone in the eye (though that wasn't always adhered to as I took a 1W argon to the face multiple times at an event but luckily never head on/in the eyes. Also those rigs were often amaturely built to save money cuz a new high power model capable of doing full color and/or animation could cost $100K

    The lasercube is an incredible game changer vs the outdated FB3 Lasers and Laser software. Your review is great! I've been wanting to buy a few of these things. The projection mapping is very sophisticated for such a small box and super cheap price point! Love it!

    • @saminix1
      @saminix1 Pƙed 3 lety +1

      Sorry, but to say that the FB3 is outdated makes me think you don't know anything in this field.
      Sure, the FB3 is the old gen.
      But the FB4? Integrated or external. Both have the RJ45/TP input with the absolute best software created to program laser shows on.
      We are years away from when this technology replacing the Pangolin hardware and the Beyond software.
      But sure. When these become bluetooth/wifi enabled, and you could connect them direcly to a piece of hardware that's connected to the computer to run timecode and be able to run them live with midi pads, then we are talking.
      But for now the cost is the same as for eg. laserworlds mid-range lasers with the same power, and i can assure you that their scanners are with higher quality and higher speeds.

    • @GearItFirst
      @GearItFirst Pƙed 3 lety +2

      @@saminix1 I can assure you, LaserWorld is NOT higher quality. As a matter of fact, LW's safety standards were SO poor the FDA literally raided their Orlando office and shut them down.

    • @DecibelDuo
      @DecibelDuo Pƙed 3 lety +1

      @@saminix1 That is great input. My argument comes from a beginner and user friendly stance. I own 2x X-Laser FB3 2W Skywriters and though Pangolin is feature packed and can can run timecode and output midi to lighting controllers, the software and set up is complicated. It took me a long time to understand the zoning set up as well as the atmospheric vs graphic settings per dongle. Getting a show up and running is the 1st priority. Especially when most LDs run the same scenes and presets off Pangolin. I respect the ease of use for anyone at any skill level to get a show going in 20-30 minutes with Wicked Lasers.

    • @saminix1
      @saminix1 Pƙed 3 lety

      @@GearItFirst really? Well that was more than I knew. Anyhow. What I ment with my comment was that I'm more for actually controlling my lasers with a reliable software. And since I own 2 laserworld DS-2000rgb, I also bought their ShowController dongle as the software to control them.
      But personally I regretted it quite fast. I rather have saved up double my budget, for 2x kvant CM2000 instead, with the pangolin software. ShowController is way to weak for my use.

    • @saminix1
      @saminix1 Pƙed 3 lety

      @@DecibelDuo I hear you.
      And absolutely. If you just want some laser effects, these are cool. But still. Then the price point is way to high if you ask me.
      I rather have professional equipment, get use to the high-standard learning curve that comes with it, and getting my life prepared if someone would to give me a shot on a higher-standard gig.
      But that's me, and I do LD and mobile gigs for a living.
      So once again. I see where these products can be used. But just at a lower price point

    It really depends on the class of the laser, not necessarily the power of it that determines how damaging it is to your eyes. A 0.1mw telecomms laser shone onto a regular brick wall has enough potency for the reflection alone to cause irreversible damage to your retinas or corneas. That is why as soon as the laser is disconnected out of circuit, an alarm will kick in and cut off the power to the laser. This stops engineers from being blinded. My biggest concern is that a 2000mw laser in the hands of somebody that has no laser safety training can and will cause serious eye injuries to party goers. My knowledge is a bit rusty, but I've 2x city & guilds qualifications ( 3466/3 and 3466/4 ) in singlemode and multimode fibre optics. Both also cover the basics of laser safety. My advice is that if you do not have a clear grasp of the basics of the dangers of lasers, then you should be nowhere near them.

      Reccomend when doing light shows with a laser not to have the beam concentrated in one spot for long. Make sure when you are firing it in an environment that you run a laser test long before ever opening or having people in. I press buttons at a night club for a job, the way I was trained on lasers was basically to keep the shit moving and to never leave the lasers in one spot for too long and also allowing the lasers to take breaks within 15 minutes. When I warm up my RBB spots I immediately switch it to purple or uv. It tends to heat up the carpet the least. The emergency stops are super helpful if the software crashes or the laser gets stuck on, which I have had happen, it's terrifying.
