I can't wait to see you make a light show with this light. I want to see what it will look like using Sound Switch
Wow, that was really in dept. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Thanks for showing this model. I have one that i had to have a variance for it. I also have to use a laptop with the software for the laser i have. Which is a really nice laser. This one is just a cool little simple laser at an affordable price. So I will pick one up. I also only shine the laser above the crowd, never allowing it to come down to the floor, something to keep in mind. Keep em dancing
Thanks for watching! YES. Never shine this at the crowd.
Scanned beams spread the wattage by the length of the beam path. IOW, a 1 meter circle is X# of beam diameters. So divide your power by the beam diameters of the image and it will be a miniscule fraction of the rated projector's power. I've scanned audiences with 5 watt lasers, without harm, because I kept the image large and/or diffracted.
Furthermore, a blue beam is only ~1/3 the power of a projector's white (RGB) beam.
I'm currently running 2 * 3 Watt RGB projectors in my living room. But, a 5 second static white beam burned through my fire resistant screen and into my new 4K TV, before I could kill the beam.
If performing public gigs under the US regs, best to use a metal mask on the aperture to keep the beams above 10 ft.
Higher powered lasers must have scan fail protection boards, as well. Lasers are fun but not kids toys. Glad to see that you're being responsible about public safety.👍
Yes, this li'l projector has the RGB diodes & galvos, but the diode drivers are TTL, instead of analog, so there's only 3 bits of on/off = 7 colors. Kinda sucks that there's no ILDA input connector. I would install one, ditch the showcard of canned BS, and connect the XY RGB signals directly to the galvo drivers and diode drivers. But, that would sacrifice DMX for laser software & a DAC, which is more fun. It's a god cheap way to start building a proper show system.
Suggest inverting the X axis on one projector to create a symmetrical L & R pair of opposites.
Good revue, @DJDarylBennett
😎
superb thanks
I have 4 of them on sound switch but I also have 8x 15w units. I use outdoors. I pull the permits for outdoor shows. I also pull faa papers to clear the airspace in the downfield of the show.
I have never pulled one for pure indoor shows but that said I setup with them all drawing lines at the lowest edge and setup to hit the back wall at 7ft 6in off the ground my lighting truss is 10ft 6in off the ground and 16ft wide.
With a led matrix wall. My dj booth has a 65in TV screen and holds my prime4+
I keep this setup in my living room and design shows in sound switch and transfer the. To the prime 4+ using Dropbox
Great video! I've always been curious about these because I see them all over Amazon. Your video helped me make my mind up and I'm going to get a couple for some upcoming EDM events.
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching! Can't wait to see the videos
Wow. I’ve been using lasers for the last 5 years and never ever had an issue. In fact I advertise them as part of my package deals for weddings.
That's good to know! Thanks for sharing your experience
@DjDarylBennett i've been on the fence about picking this baby up for a couple weeks now, I'm gonna go ahead and pull the trigger. Thanks ... Keep doing it bro! Getting damn close to 1000 subs... proud of ya 🎉
Thanks man! Thanks for the support 🙏
As a professional laserist, I would just like to clarify the point you were unsure about. It is true that you are required to have a variance for all lasers Class 3B (3R) and above. However, It is the duty of the retailer to make sure you have the variance before they sell it to you. That being said, most China manufacturers and Amazon sellers do not care one bit if you have a variance. They will sell their product to anyone. Keep in mind, that just because a seller completes the sale and ships you their product does not mean the transaction was done legally.
You are correct in stating that you do not require a variance to use this laser in the privacy of your own home, however, all lasers that are manufactured in or imported into the United States must have a manufacturers variance as well. Most laser products from China do not have this variance. That means anyone ordering an unvarianced product from China runs the risk pf having their product confiscated by US Customs. should the item be inspected. The possibility of this is small, but it is still a risk.
Lastly, to anyone who may consider using an unvarianced laser in a professional setting, please reconsider. Not only are you putting your clients and their guests at risk of injury but you are significantly increasing the liability for yourself, the venue and your client. Lasers should not be a cheap add-on to your show. Research the safety measures needed to do a laser show properly, safely and legally and charge your clients accordingly. Don't risk people's safety or the success of your business to give someone a cheap, mediocre laser show. Do ti right, and get paid for your knowledge.
You earned a sub. Hope you can keep doing these kind of videos. Well done and well explained.
Thanks for the sub!
Hey! I want to know how you connected the dmx cable to your pc. I've been wanting to know this for a few days, but I still don't know... please tell me!@@DJDarylBennett
Demn I need this ❤
great video! bought this laser to use for some house parties. i was wondering if you know how to set the laser to just the sine manual drawing mode so that it doesn’t stray too low and hit people’s eyes. thanks
I've always been curious about Lasers but hesitant to use then at a gig.
Same here
Hi! Great vid.
Do you know if you can hook two of these up via DMX, one as master, the other as a slave? I'd like one to be on sound activated mode & for it to control the other & have it mirror the first one.
Yes it does appear that it does have master/slave mode
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I threw some raves at the turn on the century and our main lighting guy would bring his 1w argon lazer or 5w YAG laser which were huge beasts that costed upwards or $100k and could make cinder block walls smoke and turn black when you had it within like 10ft. Anyway he told me back then that when they were placing the lasers and reflecting mirrors they had to make sure that the beams remained at a min hight of 10ft from the floor even on downward sweeps to avoid hitting people in the eyes.
Those are some powerful lasers!
Thanks for your input!
I just aim the laser on the gig bar on the ceiling make cool pattern red/ green dots
There's nothing cool about Red and Green dots.
Hi very useful I'm stucked with this laser in soundswitch It does not what i want
its a alien slp-rgb500 with almost the same more simple movements and patterns
cannot figue rout what attibutes is in soundswitch and how to use it
Is that a fixed kind of gobo pattern that u use as one step in the progamming in soundswitch?
Hey!! Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Question: How far does the laser project? Have you tried it in a larger space and with a little more clarity? You will know how many watts the lazer is. thanks and sorry for so many questions
Hey man! I couldn't find how much wattage this was. I estimate 0.5w. looked great in my garage but I haven't tried this in a bigger venue.
I think 2w would be better for a bigger venue
@@DJDarylBennett Thank you for you answer!!!
@@DJDarylBennettyes, it's a 500 milliwatt laser
Which mfg profile did you use for your attribute cue ??
Which fog/haze machine did you use for the beams to look so crisp?
You can use any fog machine, a little goes a long way. Here's one I like amzn.to/3O15o5p
But I use the ADJ haze machine
I would love to see a how he set the 3d laser prjector on the attribute cues because he dont explain how was that part
Like dragging and dropping attribute cues onto the timeline?
Shine lasers at the roof or opposite to where the cameras are pointing frkm
I know that not everyone who uses lasers is going to get a variance but yes, please shine towards roof.
Cool video, 😎 how far do you think those laser can reach?? 1 or 2 miles? Trying to find a lazer equipment to aim at a mountain ⛰️ 🤔 . Do you think this one on your video can the Lazer s can reach about a mile or two?
I think you'd want a much more powerful laser
How many meters can you look at the laser ? rather set it so that it does not shine after people?
Easily programmable to project goku or whatever you want really. Find a compatible way of importing what you want into that program. Good luck
Do you teach classes on using soundswitch?
Coming soon 😁
Is there anyway to just have a stream of RGB lights that move x & y axis similar to yours at 10:51 but without using dmx or soundswitch? Im not seeing it in any soundactivated mode or auto mode its just a bunch of shapes
The sound active and auto mode will loop through a bunch of patterns. You'll need to use DMX if you want a single pattern.
I'm using the RB-DMX1 with Rekordbox. Does anyone know what the "attribute Cues" equivalent would be on Rekordbox Lighting? thanks
I use a laser with Rekordbox Lightning but i only can it turn on and off. No show or control mode.
God this unit a couple weeks ago after watching this video. It’s awesome but I’m having trouble running the 32 channel DMX mode😢 and trying to figure out how to use the sound switch manger app to create a true patch for it with sound switch any help would be awesome!
Why not use the one of the other available profiles? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
@@DJDarylBennett couldn’t find the UKing profile and the other RGB projector profiles wouldn’t allow me to control it I’m not sure why tho
Did you auto scripted your lights on soundswitch? or did you custom all the show ?
I custom scripted the whole show
Did you use autoscript for this or program it manually?
Manual
for the demo did you program the lights to match with the song?
Yes with a manual script
For using sound switch I can’t find the laser fixture or the correct one at least any tips?
I'm using 3d laser projector (34 ch mode)
So you need a controller to make the patterns you made with this ? Or can I do this manually some way without that dmx controller ?
Those patterns are built in, and I'm choosing them with DMX. You can use the back of the panel to select patterns.
How did you get x move or y move I don’t see those options for this light on sound switch
Are you using the same profile?
trying to get the DMX programming to work but I can't get it to do certain things like change fixed color, etc. I have it set to the correct channels. I've tried in both Enttecc EMU and now soundswitch. I'm getting a little more control in soundswitch but still not enough to do any programming like color change, etc... It's the same in 34 and 6 channel mode
I found I had to press RGB on the remote now it works
Glad you were ale to get it to work!
So, the 2 lasers in the demonstration were not the same laser you reviewed?
One is the uking in the review, the other is a brand called ehaho. I was going to do a separate review but decided against it. They have the exact same functionality and DMX profile
Please help i have this laser, but its been really loud kinda like a whining noise as the lasers change?
Making some noise is expected. Shouldn't be audible once you start blasting music
I have bought 2 of these recently and both had dmx issues. When I plugged in the DMX cable the laser would turn off and on every second. Has anyone else had this issue? I had to return mine because they weren't useable
Did you resolve this? Im thinking about getting this laser but relying soley on the remote control to sync with audio from dj decks. Will i get streams of the rgb laser or does it only do shapes?
hey man , quick question does this lazer system have a single light beam...like lets say i wanted to project a blue light alone can it do that?
Like a spotlight? A moving head spot might be a better fixture to achieve that effect
Probably not. But I would probably avoid using any laser on a single area for too long, if that's what you mean. Even low-power lasers might burn some materials if focused on the same area for a long time. Could really be bad if it's anywhere near people's eyes, or even reflections. You never really know what you're really getting with cheap off-brand lasers either. Just about any laser can be dangerous, and that's one of those things you might really want to be avoiding with them. Cheers.
Sir…I have wedding this weekend…my wedding…I bought this yesterday and nothing working but auto mode…I have a RBG and it doesn’t explain for dummy’s like me…I don’t want Santa and pictures at my wedding…just wild lights strobes….please help!!!!!!
How did this laser light aged up for you? I’m still indecisive I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews on Amazon.
I have not used it a lot at many gigs
as a beginner, would you recommend cheap china lasers? this u’ king lasers? laserworld? or kvant ones? let’s pretend there’s no budget limit but for a beginner which one is best?
I think this is a great intro laser, especially as a first laser
@@DJDarylBennett thanks!
You can't legally use these cheap Chinese lasers. They don't have lockouts or any other safety features. You'd be asking for a lawsuit.
do you need likea fog or haze machine
Definitely
I bought one of these and I'm struggling to get it to change color with DMX control. It works in "easy" dmx mode, but the "advanced" one it won't work. Channel 12 seems to be useless. I have tried switching it to another dmx range and still no luck. My owners manual has the same first few pages repeated so it isn't any help. Did you hit anything like this?
Same. I’m struggling in both modes. I tried to use automate and it doesn’t even queue with the music.
If I remember right, it takes two channels to really get the color working. It was like 12 and the adjacent channel, 13 maybe?
when you create a pattern with the DMX software, does it save it inside the laser? Or do you have to keep the PC connected if you want to use that pattern at a gig?
So DMX only leverages the built in patterns already preconfigured in the laser. So whether you use a controller or DMX software to use that DMX settings, it's up to you
@@DJDarylBennett Thats what I thought. Hey, in the video you say this is a class 3B laser, I can't find any documentation to confirm that. On amazon it just says 20W, but is that really the laser output? Seems like this is more like
@@imothythe manual said it was a class 3b. (Which isn't hard since the threshold is 5mW or 0.005W) I couldn't find any info on power output, I think 20w is power consumption. I think under 1W for output
@@DJDarylBennett my guess is 500milliwatts, looking at another unit from ebay that is just a few bucks more, the LY-RGBW01 which has ILDA and a SD card, was not impressed with the patterns in the U-king model. The model name implies 1 watt, but I see various specs on different sellers so we'll see what I end up with!
Can you autoscript this laser with soundswitch or does everything need to be programmed from scratch?
You have to create all the attribute cues manually and autoscripting will place them randomly
@@DJDarylBennett Would you be able to share the attribute cues that you used in this video by a chance?
@@DJDarylBennett Any chance that you would share the attribute cues so I can understand how they are formed? I have the exact same laser and am really struggling with the setup
How do you get it in slave mode?
I had both of them on the same DMX channel
hello, does it work with dmx 512?
Yes
@@DJDarylBennettok thx for answering
There’s a 1 second delay after every animation change when I connect my second light via Master/Slave mode. Do you have any idea why and how to fix it?
How're they connected?
Hi! I'm potentially going to buy two of these to connect together also.... Do you have one responding to sound & the other just mirroring the first? Does it work well & do you have a video of this working?
@@chrisdougherty hey man, I ended up returning both U King lights and bought something else instead since I couldn’t figure out how to fix the issue
@@HuyTran-vr5pg Awe, that's no good. So you managed to link the two, but one was copying the other but with a delay, yeah?
@@chrisdougherty that’s correct :)
How powerful is this laser?
I couldn't find any official written statement about the power, but I'm guessing 500mW
You weren’t that guy , that said that were you??
??
is this thing off the market now ? 🤔
Depends where you are... I'm in the US in the mid west and it still shows that it's available
@@DJDarylBennett oh ok 😄 disadvantage for europe (austria)
can you send me the file?
Send me a PM
This laser is good for the hobbyist or home user. It is absolutely against the law to use this device in a manner that a professional DJ would like to use it. It is unvarianceable and a liability. Just imagine hitting a surgeon in the eye with one of these crap lasers
Why not use it to point behind you as stage lighting so it isn’t hitting people in they eyes. Or get licensed
Just make sure to blind them good, that way they can’t find ya!
Waste of time mate. The motors in these sorts of lasers are really cheap and you end up with a flashing effect which is distracting and messy for the crowd and just unprofessional looking overall.
Start with a Laserworld CS1000MK3, which has the ability to map the X/Y using DMX to be safe and above the crowd, something no other budget lasers can do well. Affordable investment.
Then when you're more confident you could maybe work your way up to a Kvant Clubmax or Tarm laser using Pangolin Beyond in a few years.
That laser seems pretty cool, doesn't look like it's commonly sold in the US.
Glad I don't live in the land of the free.
😂 the irony isn't lost on me
